Chapter 7
Becca -
She said we would talk later but she needed to chill.
I knew she was upset over whatever happened before I walked up but, she kept looking at me like she felt guilty.
She gave me some clothes to put on since mine were muddy then left me to change.
The pain was annoying, but the buzz made it much more manageable.
Truthfully I was more upset about my phone.
I carried my dirty clothes through the house until I found her in the kitchen.
Dani: ‘Just toss them in the corner I’m not washing them until this storm passes. Any particular munchies?’
‘I should likely ignore them.’
I softly patted my stomach.
Dani: ‘Do we need to go back in front of the mirror? I wouldn’t hate another chance to grab your ass.’
‘If you want to play with my ass you should just do it.’
I put my hand over my mouth and she seemed very amused.
Dani: ‘Don’t think I’m going to forget that, but you’re still eating. I’m not playing into whatever twisted body image that little boy you’re with has you seeing.’
I opened my mouth to respond, but the lights flickered and thunder shook the house.
Being impaired made me more sensitive to the storm than usual because she quickly wrapped her arms around me offering comfort.
Dani: ‘You’re ok, I’ve got you, but clearly God is on my side. So if you really want to argue with the two of us you can, but I suggest giving in.’
She loosened her grip on me and we pulled a few inches apart so I could see her smiling.
‘Fine the Chinese place in the strip mall with the grocery store.’
She stepped back and clapped her hands together.
Dani: ‘That’s the best Asian place that delivers here.’
‘Because I would pick shitty food instead?’
I said sarcastically.
Dani: ‘I like the sassy side it’s cute, but don’t over do it.’
‘So in exchange for eating can I get some answers?’
Dani: ‘How about you tell me what you want to eat so I can order it and you give me answers in exchange for answers? You have me curious about you.’
‘Fair enough. Crab rangoons and sweet and sour chicken. I don’t have any cash on me, but if….’
Dani: ‘Oh please. I’ve already shared pills and weed with you. Do you think I’m stressing over you paying for your food?’
‘When you put it like that can I get a drink to help keep this buzz going?’
I never partied hard or crossed buzzes even but I started feeling more ballsy.
Dani: ‘If I let you drink will you promise me something?’
‘Depends.’
Dani: ‘You don’t try to pretend to be a badass just because you’ve heard countless rumors about me. If you feel sick you say so. If you don’t want to do something you say so. You don’t act all big and bad to seem cool. Deal?’
‘Fine. Then we both agree, to be entirely honest. Not just honest if asked we offer information.’
Dani: ‘Good addition. So right now we put in place a no bull shit policy. It doesn’t however mean we have to share every personal detail. Instead of lying we just honestly say we don’t want to talk about stuff.’
‘I can agree to that.’
She went to the refrigerator and pulled out two tall cans and handed me one.
We both cracked the seal.
Dani: ‘One more thing though. I’m in charge. That doesn’t just go for tonight. I’m not saying if you don’t want to do something I can force you to. I’m saying if I think you need to take a break from drinking you do. If I say you’re going to eat unless you don’t feel well you eat. No skipping food out of concern for calories and stuff.’
It was quiet all that could be heard was the low rumbling of thunder in the distance.
I lifted my can and bumped hers with it.
‘You’re in charge? I can handle that.’
