Chapter 3

If you asks what the thing that makes Jia happy, that is to see her son happy. The most important thing to her is Denny's happiness. She didn't care about herself because she knew she can have a happy life as long as she can see Denny's smile. Sh loves to see her son smile. And she hates to see Denny crying. That is why she always avoid from crying in front of Denny because she knew her son will cry if he saw Jia crying. Even Jia was facing a big problem, she still smiled in front of Denny, showing that she never have a problem. She didn't want her son to worry. Well, Denny is too smart for a four years old kid.

When they got home last night from meeting Jay, she tucks the sleeping Denny in the bed before she went into her own room. She settles herself on the bed and think about her meeting with Jay. The young COO didn't give any answer to her request. She kept thinking until she didn't know what time she drove off to sleep.

Jia is frowning in her sleep when she feels a blew on her face. But she ignores it as she snuggles more in her blanket. But then she felt another blew in her ear. She open her eyes only to meet with her son giggling at her sides. She carved a small smile.

"You are awake mommy!" Denny exclaimed.

"Yeah, I'm awake." Jia said almost whisper. She caressed her son cheeks with a loving smile but suddenly Denny flinched. "What's wrong baby?" Jia asked worriedly.

"You are burning." Denny said. He come closer to Jia and put his tiny palm on Jia's forehead. "You are having a fever mommy!" Denny exclaimed worriedly.

"No I'm not. I'm fine." Jia reassured while got up from her bed. But all of sudden a pain shooting in her head. She sat back on her bed and close her eyes while slowly rubbing her forehead.

"Are you okay mommy?" Denny asks worriedly while rubbing a soothing circle at Jia's back. Jia didn't respond. She keeps rubbing her head, trying to wash the pain away. "I don't want to go to school. I want to take care of you." The little kid added.

Just right in time after Denny said that, Jia feel a bit better. She opens her eyes and look at her son.

"You shouldn't skip your school. Don't worry about me." Jia said with a reassuring smile.

"But-"

"No buts baby." Jia cuts. "Now, can you take a shower by yourself?" Denny nods before going out of the room with a sulky face.

Jia sighs. She wasn't sure how can she suddenly fell sick. Her head still throbbing painfully and she wasn't sure if she can drive Denny to school or not.

She took hee phone from the nightstand before dialing Ash's number. After a few seconds, a cheerful voice can be heard from the other line, greeting her a good morning.

"Ash, can you help me?" Jia asks softly.

"Sure, what is it?"

"Can you please drive Denny to school? I'm not sure if I can drive or not." Jia said.

"What? No, I mean I don't mind driving Denny to school but what do you mean by 'I'm not sure if I can drive or not'?" Ash asks.

"I'm having a headache." Jia sigh.

"Are you okay? Omg, I should bring you to the clinic." Jia can hear the shriek coming from the other line. She felt rather annoyed with Ash sometimes because the latter kept worrying about her a little too much. Not that Jia hates it, in facts, she loves when someone cared about her. It just Ash is overprotective towards her and Jia thought that she didn't deserve to be treated like that by Ash. Her friend had help her a lot and he don't want to worry her friend with him having a headache. It just a headache tho and Ash shouldn't really worry about it. Its not like she's diagnosed with a cancer or what, Jia thought.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Now, I want to know if you can help me or not?"

"You know I never refuse to help you right?" Jia smiles hearing that. Yeah, she knew Ash never refused to help her when she was seeking for help. "I will do anything to help you just to make sure you are happy. I don't want you to be sad like when that bastard..."

"Ash." Jia cuts when she knew where this is going. She knew Ash wants the best for her. "He's married now." She breathed out.

"I know. I'm sorry." A sorrow voice came from the other line.

"Its okay. Just come over here." Jia says then followed by an 'okay' from Ash before she ends the call.

Jia released a long sigh. A painful memories suddenly came flooded her mind. She quickly push the thought away before she slowly get up and made herself into the kitchen. Luckily the pain has wash away a bit so that she can prepare her son's breakfast.

"Baby, eat it slowly." Jia said when she saw Denny shove a spoonful of cereals into his mouth. Yeah cereals because she found herself cannot stand too long in the kitchen to cook something. At the end she took out the cereal and milk for her son's breakfast.

"I'mmfhhh don'tfff wantfff to be lateeee." The kid say with mouth full with food.

"Your uncle still not here. So, eat it slowly." Just when she says that, she can hear the bell rang.

"Ok, that must be your uncle."

Denny jumps off the seat and quickly running towards the door with his bag bouncing on his back. Jia followed behind. Denny wanted to open the door by himself but he barely touch the door knob. Jia chuckles looking at her son struggle to open the door. At the end she takes Denny in her arm and let the boy open the door.

"Uncle!" Denny squealed happily when the door opened and see Ash standing in front of the door.

"My baby!" Ash exclaimed excitedly before taking Denny from Jia's arm. He kiss Denny's cheek and the kid giggle before kissing Ash's cheek back.

"Mommy is having a fever." Denny whispers. Ash looks at the kid before whispering back.

"Fever?" Denny nods.

"Hey! what are you whispering?" Jia asked while crossing her arm over her chest.

"We are discussing about you having a fever, mommy." Denny says.

"I'm not having a fever baby. I'm fine." Jia reassure.

"You are lying." Denny whispers under his breath while pouting.

Then, Ash put the back of his hand on Jia's forehead and he flinched when his hand came in contact with Jia's burning skin.

"Yeah Denny, your mommy is lying." Ash agreed and Denny nods. "How's your headache?" He asks once he gave his attention at Jia again.

"A bit better now." Jia admit. "You should go. I don't want both of you to be late."

"Alright. Let's go Denny." Ash said. When he was about to walk away, he stops when he remembered something. "Ahh Jia, I forgot to tell you. I'm going to America today. Actually I'm on my way to the airport. Who wanted to fetch Denny?"

"Ummm... I can fetch him. Don't worry. After I take my medicine, I'll be fine." Jia gives Ash a reassuring smile.

"Alright then." Ash says before walking away with Denny in his arm. Jia watch them until their figures disappear before closing the door.

Jia made her way into her bedroom. She really did not feel well. She shouldn't lie that she's not having a fever when she can feel her whole body is burning up. Plus, she was having a slight headache. Thankfully it isn't that bad like earlier.

Jay stops the car when he had arrived in front of the kindergarten. He is late to fetch Shannon. Usually their butler will fetch the kid but since yesterday he had to do so because the butler take a leave to go back to his hometown for a month.

He's worried if Shannon is alone. He had a meeting before and once he finished the meeting, he quickly drove off to fetch Shannon. He had to do things all by himself since his secretary wasn't come to work.

He tried to call Jia but she didn't pick up her call. Okay, maybe Jay did want to get rid of Jia but hey he didn't tell her that he had fired her. So, why she didn't come to work? Or she really wanted to be fired? Jay thought.

Once he steps into the school boundary, he releases a relieve sigh when he sees Shannon is sitting at the bench with her friend. Jay isn't quite sure who is that. When he come closer, he found that the kid beside Shannon is Denny.

"Shannon." Jay calls out and it get both kid's attention. Shannon jumps off the bench and ran towards Jay. She jumps into Jay's arm.

"Why are you late?" Shannon asks while playing with Jay's hair.

"I'm having a meeting just now. Sorry baby." Jay explains then kissed the kid's nose. "Now, let's go home." Jay says.

"Bye bye Denny." Shannon says while waving at Denny. Denny waved back with his boxy smile carved on his face.

Jay stops on his track. He turns around and watch as Denny is sitting on the bench alone. The kid is playing with the hem of his shirt while humming a song that Jay barely catch the lyrics. He suddenly feels pity.

"Denny!" He calls out. Denny put his head up and look at Jay. "Where is your mommy?"

"I don't know. Mommy said she will fetch me." Denny inform. "But she's not feeling well." He mutters under his breath.

Jay sighs. He feels pity for the kid to wait alone. He thought that he's already late and Shannon was alone but no, there's still Denny.

"Let me send you home." Jay suggests and Denny's eyes sparkle.

"You want to send me home?" Denny asks, wanted to be sure. When Jay nods the kid jumps excitedly from the bench.

"Yayy we want to go to Denny's house." Shannon exclaimed while clapping her tiny hand.

The way to Denny's house isnn't really quiet since both kids at the back keep talking non-stop. Jay found he smiles looking at both of the kids. He admits he starts to like Shannon's friend. Well, he had like the kid since the first time he saw him. Jay loves kid, so, of course he likes Denny the first time he saw him. Plus, who doesn’t ’t like this little cutie right? Turns out he's Jia's son but hey even he despised Jia, that wasn't the reason for him not liking Denny anymore. In facts, he thought that he starts to grow attach with Denny.

While the kids were talking non-stop, Denny still showing Jay the road to his house. Not long after, the car stop in front of an apartment.

"My house is at the top floor." Denny says when they walk out from the car.

Jay let the kids lead the way while he follows behind. Before that he reminds them not to run because it was dangerous there.

While walking, he looks around the building. The apartment wasn't really luxurious but its convenient enough for someone like Jia to have a house like this. Not that he said that Jia was poor tho, don't get him wrong.

"Uncle!" Denny calls out while they were waiting for the elevator.

"Yes?"

"I like you." Denny grin once he confess. Jay is taken aback with that sudden confession but soon he finds himself smiling at that. He crouched down, so his eyes is the same level as Denny's.

"What the thing that make you like me? We just met yesterday." Jay asks with a smile carved on his face.

"Because uncle Jay is handsome!" Shannon exclaims while giggling.

"He is." Denny agree. "I like you because you bought me ice cream. Then, you want to bring me to the amusement park and lastly you send me home." He says.

Jay chuckles. The kid in front of him just too cute and yes he admit he thought that he really likes Denny after Shannon.

"Shannon, do you like Denny?" Jay asks suddenly when he averts his gaze at the kid beside him.

"I really like him uncle!" Shannon admit then out of sudden she kiss Denny's cheek. Denny widen his eyes and his face turned pink. He is blushing.

"I like you too Denny." Jay say then kiss the other side of Denny's cheek. And it makes Denny blushing even more.

Then, they hear a 'ding' and the elevator open. Jay stand up straight. There are a few people in it and Jay let them out first. But then, when it come to the last person, who is wearing pink hoodie, Jay notices that the person is staggering before finally collapse.

However, Jay acts fast when his strong arm wrapped around that person slender waist preventing that person from falling and hitting the hard floor.

"Mommy!" Denny shrieked suddenly.
