Chapter 4

Jia opens her eyes only to close it again as a bright light strike onto her face. She opens her eyes again, this time slowly, and try to adjust to the brightness. She look around and found herself in an unfamiliar room. Then she feels a stinging pain on her left hand and found there's an IV drop in her hand. She didn't remember how can she end up there. For what she can recall, she was rushing to fetch Denny. She had took the pill this morning and dozed off till she didn't hear the alarm at her phone. When she woke up, she realized that Denny already finish school and she was late to fetch her son.

"You are awake." A familiar voice register into Jia's eardrum. She knows that voice. The voice that she hadn't hear for almost five years. It cannot be him, Jia thought.

She turns her head to the source of the voice and sees a black haied male is standing at the door. And her assumption was right. The man that she never wanted to meet again. But he's already in front of her.

She just stares at the male who is already walks closer to her. Her heart beating faster. She cannot believe her eyes. She must be hallucinating but no, the man in front of her is real.

"Y-Yohan?"

"Yeah its me." He answers.

"What-"

"Yohan!" Jia being cut off by Jay who is entering the room with Denny and Shannon. Jia is frowning with the situation. Did Jay know Yohan?

"Mommy!" Denny sniffles when he climbs on the bed. The kid eyes is watery, his cheeks wet because the kid didn't stop crying since he saw his mother faint. Luckily Shannon and Jay were there to comfort him.

"Denny!" Jia calls out, almost whispering. She opens her arms widely and engulf her son in a warmth, tight embrace. "Is my baby crying?"

Denny nods before snuggling more in Jia's chest. Jia smile, kissing her son's head while her hand rubbing a circle at Denny's back. Jia could feel there's two pairs of eyes are staring at her but she ignores it and just gave her attention to Denny.

"How's her condition?" She hears Jay asks.

"She's fine now. But-" Yohan stop and looks at Jia. "Miss Jia, had you took any pill without eating anything?" He asks. Jia only replied with a nod without looking at Yohan. "Then, I guess it makes your condition become worse." He stated. "Listen, you are having a fever and you didn't eat anything. Your stomach was empty and you just ate the pill and your weak body can't take it. How many time should I tell you? Are you dumb Ja?" Yohan suddenly snaps without thinking and everyone except for Jia in the room staring in horror at Yohan's sudden outburst. Jay is frowning in confusion as he didn't understand what his brother-in-law meant by that.

"D-daddy." Jia heard Shannon stuttered.

“You scared Shannon." Jay says.

Yohan sighs. He shouldn't said that or Jay will be so suspicious about him. But, he can't think well that time and let everything went out from his mouth. Yohan crouched down and wants to take Shannon's hand but the kid back away and hide behind her uncle.

"I'm sorry baby. I won't scare you." Yohan says reassuringly. Shannon peeks her head out. She is hesitating to go to her dad but when she sees Yohan's gummy smile, she steps forward and hug her daddy.

On the other hand, Jia is staring at the duo with Denny still snuggle at her.

'So, he has a kid now.' Jia whisper to herself.

Jia lay on the hospital bed while throwing a glance on the television that showing some show that she didn't really know. She only stares at the television while her mind thinking of something else. Or should we say, someone.

Yohan! She cannot believe that she will meet with him again. For five years she didn't hear anything from the younger, then suddenly they met at this hospital with Yohan finally achieved his dream to be a doctor. To be honest, its hurt Jia so much when she saw Yohan again.

From what just happened earlier, Jia learned that Yohan is Jay's brother-in-law and he's Shannon's father.

Jia is snaps out from her trance when she hears the door open. She averts her gaze to see Jay coming inside with a paper bag in his hand.

"Where's the kids?" Jia asks.

"At the playground. Don't worry, there's someone looking after them." Jay reassure. "I heard that you didn't eat the food that the nurse brought." He says. "So, I bought you this. Maybe you will eat." He says while putting the bag on the table beside the bed. Jay take out the food from the paper bag and arrange it on the table. It is porridge. Chicken porridge.

Jia looks at it before threw her glance on the television again while muttering,

"Don't wanna."

"What?" Jay snaps.

"I said I don't want to eat. I don't have any appetite." Jia answer, feeling annoyed with Jay all of sudden.

"You are so troublesome. I bought you this and you don't want to eat? What's wrong with you? Do you really happy to fall sick?" Jay snaps, throwing the paper bag away.

"I'm not asking you to buy that food anyway." Jia rolled her eyes before turning her back to Jay and snuggle into the blanket more.

She could hear that the food container is being open by Jay and he ignores it. She really don't have any appetite to eat anything even her stomach grumble, wanted to be fill.

"Eat it." Jay command while taking his seat on the edge of the bed. Jia reply with a shook. "You don't want to eat it then I will really fired you." He added and it made Jia to turn around and facing him. She sits up straight and staring at Jay suspiciously.

"You really want to get rid of me right? So, why you use it to threat me to eat?" Jia clicks her tongue in annoyance.

"Well, I have a second thought for not firing you but since you don't want to eat and doesn't want to get well, I guess you don't want that job anymore." Jay says sarcastically. He was about to pack the food back when he felt Jia's warmth hand wraps around his wrist. He looks down and see Jia is staring at him with hesitation in her eyes.

"Do you- do you really mean it?" Jia asks carefully.

"Only if you eat." Jay answers, trying hard to suppress the small smile that want to make ways on his face.

Jia sighs before letting go Jay's hand.

"Fine. I will eat." Jia defeats and Jay is grinning because finally he succeed to force Jia to eat.

Actually, he had thought about what Jia had requested and he thought that he won't fires her. He had no intention to change the decision he made last night. Then, he used that as a threat so that Jia will eat something. To be honest, Jay didn't have any idea why he made that decision. He knew he can use that new information to get rid of Jia but no, he didn't do it.

Jay dig the spoon into the porridge and then gestured the spoon in front of Jia's mouth. Jia stares at it for a while.

"I can eat by myself." Jia rolls her eyes and about to take the spoon away but Jay budge. "Give it to me! I can eat it by myself! And you can go back to your office!" Jia huffs in annoyance.

"No, I don't believe you. You won't eat it if I left you here. Plus, you are not the boss here to boss me around. So, open up your mouth." Jay command, shoving the spoon on Jia's lips, asking for her to open her mouth.

With a sulky face, Jia force herself to open her mouth. Jay grins while feeding Jia.

"Don't make that face. You look ugly." Jay commented when Jia still showing her sulky face.

"Its none of your business if I'm ugly or not." Jia reply annoyingly.

Jay rolls his eyes but continue to feed Jia. He knew Jia feels annoyed with him. Sometimes he thought that he likes to see the older annoyed face.

"Mommy!" The door opens and Denny enter the room with Shannon after one of the bodyguard of Jay’s family send them in. It makes both Jay and Jia startled at their place.

"Uwaa, uncle fed Denny’s mommy!" Shannon exclaims. "Uncle like Denny’s mom huh?" Shannon asks while wriggling her eyebrow and it made Jia chokes on her food. She coughed non-stop as the food stuck in her throat. Jay quickly hand her a glass of water and Jia gladly takes it and gulps it until the glass is empty.

"Uncle Jay like my mommy?" Denny asks innocently.

"No!" Jay and Jia says in unison.

The little kids look at them curiously.

"But, I don't mind if Uncle Jay be my father. I like him. He can take good care of my mommy." Denny admit and it makes both of them gasps in surprise. That kid is really smart.

"I agree!" Shannon raise her hand. "I like your mommy too. If both of them marry, I will always meet you." Shannon says excitedly.

How can they be so smart? Jia didn't know how to react. She's blushing badly till she didn't notice that Jay carve a small smile. Well, Jay himself didn't notice that he is smiling tho.
