Chapter 5

Hui Zhong's POV

I opened the door for Jax to carry Benjamin out not before he shoved me a piece of paper into my hand with his number written on it. Smiling at the gesture, I followed them into the car and waved them off before heading to my farm to water my crops and fix all the protective structures,

'I hope they got back safely, there have been more and more rogues here lately. It will be dangerous for them, especially Benjamin and the pups. Oh well, I've already done the best that I have, I should just wait till something happens' I shake my head as I finished my chores and headed back into the house to rest

I sat down on my couch and began typing in Jax's number whilst smiling and picking up an egg tart to munch on, 'Phew, thank goddess they're gone. Who knows how tensed I'd be with those warriors breathing down my back and nearly losing my head.' I shook my head vigorously in an effort to rid of that horrible memory and got back to clearing the used cups and plates quickly.

Once I finished my chores, I went to my room and took out a book on healing and herbs to read with a freshly brewed cup of chamomile for my relaxation as I began to read from the chapter I left off earlier.

After what seemed like an eternity, it was sunset and I decided to take a quick shower before heading up to my room to sleep, not knowing the adventure that would await me the next day.....................

Jax's POV

I arrived back at our place after 4 hours of driving and immediately brought up my sleeping mate into our bedroom and placing the covers on top of him with a gentle peck to his lips before heading to my office.

I come in to see my betas Denzel and Daniel, identical twins with identical ideas of full loyalty to the pack after Hui Zhong rescued them in the war, smiling at me before sitting down after I waved at them to sit.

"So, what is the plan now Alpha? Should we call the other leaders here since Sister H is found" I nodded and sighed as I sat into my chair, "Yes, send Katelyn to be with Benjamin in our room first Denzel and report back when you're done please." He nodded and went out, leaving Daniel in front of me. "Alpha, there's something that I have to ask if it is alright with you?" He asked, clearly bothered and nervous about something. "Go ahead and ask, don't be nervous when asking sincere questions my boy."

He nodded and took a deep breath and took a picture out, placing it on the table before looking down at his feet and played with his fingers nervously, not even glancing once at me as if he did a bad crime.

I picked up the picture and raised an eyebrow, clearly puzzled on why my trusted beta would give me a picture of a male rogue with no context, "Care to explain why is a scrawny looking rogue in this picture Daniel? It can't be you suddenly just pick up the hobby of photography and coincidentally managed to snap it right?"

He gulped and nodded, "Y-Yes Alpha. About that, uhm t-that rogue..........h-he's my mate............." Tears fell from his face as he confessed this news to me quietly, I felt bad for him. Goddess knows how conflicted he must've felt when he felt the connection and wasn't sure how to break the news.

I sighed and put the picture down, "Well what are you waiting for? Go get him you idiot, or are you going to let him die out there? By the looks of it, he probably isn't respected so as your alpha I order you to find him and bring him back and be happy with him is that clear?"

He looked up in surprise, jaw-dropped that I'd let him take in a rogue so easily. But I know he deserves happiness after what he's been through and besides, that rogue is probably an omega who would be thought of as a liability to them, "But before you do anything, does Denzel know? He needs to know you know?"

Daniel finally gave me a smile again as he wiped his tears away nodding, "Yes Alpha, Denzel knows and the reason why I was so nervous was because I thought you would never agree." He said sheepishly as he looked down, clearly embarrassed.

"Do you really think that of me? I mean look at me, Your Luna/Other Alpha is an omega too y'know? And you know how we treat everyone here equally, just that omegas are used to being submissive but we never abuse them remember?" I rolled my eyes as he nodded sheepishly.

'When the hell did my Beta's become such softies?' 'Probably when you became alpha.' My wolf, Andreas snickered as he mocked my poor sense of empathy.

I got up and headed out whilst shaking my head, using my mind link I called out for Denzel. 'Denzel, I need you and Daniel to help him find that rogue after you contact the our allies, making sure they come here by tomorrow and take along 5 warriors for security, clear?'

Not long after, I received a reply , ' Yes Alpha, I understand and thank you'

I walked back to our bedroom and made as little noise as possible so as to not awaken my beautiful mate sleeping soundly there, climbed into the bed and snuggled him. I genuinely felt bad for not being able to care for him as much as I should.

'No shit Sherlock, you didn't follow him when he wanted to go for a walk and just let him go by himself while you did all your Alpha duties asshole. You could've asked Denzel or Daniel to handle it ,but no! You decided to go all hero mode and try setting an example of the other packs didn't you?' He huffed as I rolled my eyes both internally and externally.

I inhaled my mate's scent to calm myself down as I absorbed what he said, he wasn't wrong and usually won arguments with me since he had good common sense, 'Damn right I do, animals always have the best instincts you know?'

I swore I heard him chuckle at the back of my mind, 'Yeah whatever, I'm the one who gets the me time with him either way heh. But I have to admit for once that you're right Andreas I should've been more careful and observant with Benjamin since he's carrying twins. To make up for it I've already informed the twins to do the work after bringing back Daniel's mate, from now till the birth I'll either be with him or welcoming our guests tomorrow deal?' I snickered as he huffed in annoyance.

'Deal, better make sure you don't break this promise of yours again or I'll take control and not give back for a month.' With that, he went back into my mind while I shuddered and nodded as I recalled the last time he didn't give back control and it went terribly wrong.

I got up and headed into the bathroom for a quick shower before hurrying back into the bed with my beautiful mate in my arms fast asleep. I followed suit as I inhaled his scent to sleep, excited about seeing my friends and telling them the good news.
