Marcel's POV

Before our mate passed out into our arms, my wolf Kyrion took over and caught her 'Unbelievable, our second mate is another human just like him' he said as he glanced down at our passed out mate in my arms as he carried her into

Annie's living room and couldn't help but let out a low growl of anger as he placed her down on the couch.

After he helped our mate he gave me control back for me to mind link Annie to come back. I couldn't forget that pain no matter how I tried but yet, it suits to let me see what she'd be like.

'Annie? Can you come back to the shop? There's a woman here who was looking for you but passed out so I brought her to your living room couch if that's alright. Oh and could you bring a warm towel for her too?'

'Oh sure my dear! I'm so sorry to leave you there I'll come back soon Alpha!' I chuckled in amusement and shook my head.

'You're like a second mother to me so Alpha doesn't need to be called with you' She laughed and replied 'Never mind that, I'll be back in 5 minutes Marcel'

I closed the mind link and sat on a chair opposite our mate and observed her features with caution in case she were to wake up, she was very beautiful even if she looked older than us for her hair was pure black and her eyelashes were so delicate and thin while her lips were so full and pink.

Strangest thing was that even though she smelt like a hunter there was something I couldn't place accurately with her. I decided to remain cautious and not be so open and forgiving yet, I was betrayed by a human once and who said I won't

be hurt by one again?

'Marcel, this is our mate. What say you? Will you reject her or accept her and possibly be hurt once again Marcel?' My wolf Kyrion snapped me out of my thoughts as he asked me in a cold tone, knowing that an outcome of either option is inevitable.

'What do you mean Kyrion? She's passed out cold so clearly we cannot just leave her there so the living room it is and that is all. Nothing romantic here Kyrion, no feelings left after how he had broke our hearts.'

'As you wish Marcel, do note that I have not fully accepted her till you do so make your choice wisely' Kyrion huffed as he went back into my mind. I sighed in agreement with him, effectively ending the conversation as Annie finally returned and brought a wet warm cloth to place on our mate's head.

"Oh dear! I didn't expect Hui Zhong to suddenly drop by, must be her running out of materials to drop by without any notice." She turned to me with a smile and offered me some cookies to munch whilst waiting for her.

"So her name is Hui Zhong huh? Interesting........." I pondered mindlessly as I began snacking on the delicious cookies.

"Sorry? did you ask me something my dear?" Annie asked and I realised I said it out by accident.

"No it's nothing much Annie, I'll get going back to the pack first as Eli is waiting for me in my office. Oh right, could you not tell her I was here? I don't like people knowing about me if you get my hint."

She nodded small smile and said, "Alright, then I'll see you on Monday at the pack house with my bags?" I smiled and nodded, getting up and taking my coat as I headed out, taking one last look at my mate and huffing before heading back to the pack house.

I finally arrived at the pack house after an hour, as Annie's shop is at the border with Crescent falls pack, I take a long while to head back to the pack house.

I come out of my car to see my Gamma Will and Delta Howard looking at me with their eyebrows raised, clearly curious on why I was so late but I shook my head to tell them I wasn't in the mood to talk and proceeded to walk into the office on the third level with them following me behind closely.

"Finally you came back Marcel, goddess knows how you'd treat your mate when it comes to doing something as simple as watching his/her's shop." My beta and best friend Eli chuckled as I rolled my eyes at him while I rolled my eyes and sat down.

"Whatever, its not like I'll get another one after what happened with him, you three never experienced what it's like to fucking lose a mate because yours are still alive and happy so shut it and change this topic already."

Eli gulped and nodded as he handed me a file while they took a seat in front of my desk looking down with their guilt-ridden faces, "Yeah sorry 'bout that Alpha. Anyways, this is the report on the recent rogue attack at Crescent Falls territory that harmed Luna Benjamin. With the invite to the Christmas party not only a tradition but also being a reason to bring our members along and keep them safe because we are still rebuilding ourselves and we only have 70 members with 40 of them being warriors. Also, Alpha Jax said he has a friend who saved Luna Ben so she'll be attending the dinner too." I nodded in agreement and looked towards Will and Howard for their opinions and Will sighed.

"In all honesty Marcel, I think we can do with this plan since it's easy to move us up into a bigger pack such as theirs for protection in this time." I nodded and said, "Right, so our allies Coven High Priestess Luna Margaret and House Elder Cassius will be joining too?"

Howard finally spoke up after seemingly in a trance-like state while nodding, "Yes Alpha, they will both be joining and bringing their families too, which reminds me, can we bring ours to the dinner too?"

I rolled my eyes, clearly annoyed they'd bother me with such an obvious question, "You very well know the answer to this so why are you still asking me Howard?" I continued looking at the file pretending to be uninterested in this topic of mates while they gulped together and didn't dare glance at me knowing that I'm pretty pissed at them.

After what seemed like an eternity of awkward silence Eli cleared his throat and spoke up, "Well, we hoped you considered trying to meet with some of the single unmated wolves to try finding your second-chance mate there? I know it's difficult to get over him but you need to in order to give us a Luna. Even though Silver Forrest pack is known as small and upcoming pack, you as the Alpha are causing many potential members to not join us due to your cold demeanour and some potential allies don't dare to approach you because of this.

So as Alpha, you need to buck up and try to be nicer for once Marcel, I know as Beta I'm overstepping my boundaries here but being a Beta means I my priority is to help you whenever I can and if that means being straightforward and blunt with you then so be it. Beta's swear loyalty to the Alpha while Delta and Gammas swear to the pack hence why they don't say anything but honestly Marcel, we've been your friends forever and we're tired of you being so fucking depressed!"

I slammed the file on the table and stood up while taking deep breaths to try to keep myself calm and not do something I regret as tears threatened to spill out of my eyes.

This is where Kyrion and I disagree and split into two, while I would love to punch and smack Eli in the face Kyrion wishes to do nothing and just suck up and listen to his advice, "Get out now, all three of you! You've never experienced betrayal from a mate that ends up dying due to your mistakes so fuck off!" Will and Howard were considerably intimidated and dragged Eli out while I slumped back into my seat with tears now spilling out of my eyes uncontrollably.

'Kyrion are you there?' I asked in our link.

'Yes I'm here Marcel. Why are you crying?' He replied rather quickly

I just continued to silently sob while I buried my face in my hands, 'I-It hurts so much, What if she really hurts us like how he did? Then how will we live? The heart can only take so much'

He huffed and replied, 'There is only so much I can advise you but know that I only accept her when you do, even if this means I have to torture myself by not having her then so be it. We are of the same body and soul so there isn't much to disagree on but I think you need to heal first before you learn to love and accept her, that is all I can say now I need to rest good night' I sighed in defeat and nodded in reply as I could sense he felt the same but didn't want to say anything.

'Thanks Kyrion, you're the best wolf any werewolf can ask for when it comes to these types of things.' I said with a slight chuckle as I got up to keep the file in my bookcase. He simply huffed and went back in my mind.

I did some stretching and decided to just go to my room to take a nap, unsure on how to so-called "Heal" as Kyrion said so I did the next best thing, sleep, and slowly drifted of into the dark abyss of sleeping.
