A Different Perspective [5]

(Olivia)

I finish up on my homework and sigh, looking out of my window. Outside, the night sky has fallen to a dark blue and stars are twinkling like glitter dust spilled across it. I hear crickets in the distance and cars whooshing down the street. It’s cold outside. Light snow is beginning to fall. The death of autumn draws nearer and nearer as autumn colours fade and white overtakes the landscape. The trees are still shedding their leaves again, and the ground is covered in auburns, oranges, yellows, reds and browns, but the snow is beginning to bury it all. I think of Malory and Katy. I message the group chat.

Me: I’m so tired pls help

MalPal: why are you still up? Don’t you go to bed around eleven?

Me: homework.

MalPal: ahh.

Me: Where’s Katy?

KittyKaty: I’m alive. I’m watching a movie

Me: which one?

KittyKaty: Elf.

KittyKaty: this guy is hilarious aw

Me: Mal

MalPal: ye.

Me: what are you doing
