Revelations [3]

(Malory)

When the evening bell rings, I realise this is what I’ve been dreading.

Kyle will be coming home to my house. We will be sitting in the living room, talking about things I’m not even sure I want to know about. And even if we don’t talk about it, we have to practice. And Kyle’s looking mighty fine with his senior year glow up.

Ron and Olivia have left the compound, and I’m standing at the entrance gate –knowing that Kyle is approaching me from behind.

“Ready?” he asks, I turn to him immediately, “We’re walking today.”

“We’ve been walking together every day since that one time you decided to walk me home. What’s your point?” I ask, raising a brow.

He lets out a breathy laugh and it vaporises before my eyes. It’s so cold. “Let’s go,” he says, smiling.

Stop smiling, idiot; you’re going to make me sick.

“So,” he says, turning to me as we talk. “Thank you –again. For giving me a chance and trying to hear me out.”
