Somehow; Someday; Soon [4]

(Kyle)

I walk along the sidewalk on the way to the main road. I pull my phone out of my pocket.

I hesitate as my finger lands on Malory’s contact.

I call her.

She picks up.

“Kyle?”

“Malory, I have to tell you something.”

“I’m at work right now, Kyle,” she says. “You wanna pass by the Diner? We can talk here if it’s important. Make sure whatever you have to say is important. I’m not wasting my time with you, Davidson.”

“I’ll come. I’m coming,” I say without hesitation. “I’m coming.” I hang up.

It’s so cold that even though I’m covered in warm clothes, I’m freezing. I walk to the taxi stand. I hop into a vehicle and head to the diner.

It’s the first time I’d ever be going there because of her.

I take a seat at an empty table –there aren’t that many because it’s quite a busy night. I know from the look of things that we won’t be able to talk here as long as she’s in the middle of work.
