Chapter 34

Evening has settled over the rolling hills, slight residue of light still lingering around the peeks. I take one of the places set for dinner at the huge table facing the big windows. The view is hypnotizing. Liam joins me at the table absently looking at his tablet. I smile at him because he reminds me of me. This is the exact way I'm spending most of my evenings at home. I look back outside.

“Was that an indication that I'm neglecting you?” he asks.

I look back giggling, “if you're talking about me looking at you, God, no.” I touch his hand and he holds it. “I’m overwhelmed by the beauty of this place.”

The chef brings us our food and Liam turns off his tablet. “Too often, I don't even notice it. But you're right.”
