Out of Time

I’m still in traffic be there in 10. 


Piper texts me. I’m already parked and almost in the shop so I just go in. The woman inside says hello and I tell her that I am here with Piper who is joining us in a few minutes. 


Her stance changes immediately from cold and professional to friendly and inviting. The store is filled with gorgeous dresses and I ask her for advice. At least where to start from. We are alone in the store and she directs me to a section with evening gowns. gorgeous gowns hang all around the room, racks positioned to maximize every inch of the floor space. With all of Piper's gorgeous wardrobe I expected we would end up in the most expensive store. 


I can’t do expensive right now. I even can’t do modest right now. Not until revenues start coming in. Just by glancing at the price tags and I know that even this reduced price is just too high for me.
