Escape : part 2

She got way too close to me and started talking "I don't want to die too, I used to doubt what I was told letting no one to know. If I helped you to set yourself free, would you help me escape? Promise not to escape without me."…

"Yes, I promise you … Just get me out of here before they come," I told her, and then she started doing her witch things – In no time I was free.

It was as if a wave of electricity shocked the whole of me. My powers, my hybrid, my true strong self, they were all back into the surface.

I thought I'd experienced life afterlife, but hearing my hybrid's voice brought me to another different level of being alive.

"Elisabeth! Can you hear me?" My hybrid wondered, and I answered her right away.

"Yes, I do! Where have you been all this time?" I couldn't help but to wonder since she promised me to never leave my side, but she left me alone with all those creeps.

"I don't know, it was as if I was asleep." She only told me.

That doesn't make any sense, or actually it makes sense - with witches everything makes sense. I took my time to tell her about all the scenes she missed. She quietly was present at some, such as the scene when she asked me to fight for us; but she also was absent at others.

As I finished telling her what was happening, she then asked me "Why has she change her mind? It's not normal I think there's something off outside there."

"Something's off like what?" I question her "She's only afraid of dying as anyone would be."

Though I tried to explain to her, she seemed not convinced with what I've said.

"Stop living in your own wonderland, and try to pull yourself into the real world. Those kinds of people do not feel afraid just that way. She was convinced on her point; don't you think that those two words from you will even get close to turn her out of her beliefs."

At the right moment, I was the one who's being convinced. I mean, she got a point and a strong one to be honest.

As I was about to ask her what to do, a voice brought me outside my dark zone into the real world, it was the little witch voice.

"Hybrid girl …Hellooo … Can you hear me?"

Without answering her, I pushed her until her back was fixed on a wall. Then I set fire to one of my hands.

"I'm not the enemy, stoop" She said between her teeth. I am helping"

I pushed her forwards then said to her "Exactly! You are indeed helping me, but why? Why are you willing to turn on you people for a stranger like me?"

Her eyes were wildly open, then she said again "It's because I don't want to die … That's all."

While speaking, her body was shaking. As for her heart; it was playing its own music, meaning she was lying just like what my hybrid predicted.

"Cut with the bullish, and tell me the truth … Right now!" I threatened her, while still holding fire close to her face.

"I turn on my people not for you, but for myself" Her heartbeats were calm compared to when she was laying "I don't believe them no more, I think they're lying. Before I didn't mind following their lies, but not until I met him."

"You met him, you met whom?" I asked her, and she answered me right away.

"None of your business … You need me like I need you, and if we want to get out of here alive, we need to help each other."

Now it all starts making sense, I set her free and she started one of her once upon a time witches' stories.

"All witches are quite strongest when they land in here, it's all because of our ancestors who sacrificed their lives …" I cut her off "Wait … Shall all your stories starts and ends up with self-sacrifices?"

She nods in approval, then explains, "It's how it's done, no one gets everything they want. You should give something to get another in exchange."

"Okey … I can get that, but only if we're talking about materials, but not life," I told her.

"It's normally a choice, not like in our case." She explained, which caused me to wonder again; "What's the difference between us and other cases?"

"You are not willing to kill yourself, obviously" Why does it feel like she's mocking at our situation more than explaining the whole thing?

"That explains my case but not yours?" I told her, She snapped at me then.

"I was about to tell you, and you cut me off. I did something wrong, I and one of my friends practiced a forbidden spell. My friend didn't wake up ever again, and for me, all I can do to clean the water of my family's face is to sacrifice myself, in order to bring peace to this unfair world."

"Okey…!" was all I said to her.

But deep inside, I was wondering what sort of forbidden spell she was talking about. Part of me wanted to ask her about this, another part was like it would be better if I didn't.

"So, what's the plan?" I asked her instead,

"As I told you before, witches here are stronger than anywhere else due to the ancestors' sacrifice. They're all buried beneath us, as a sort of power and energy to all witches around here." She got quiet for a while, and so did I.

But then she continues, "They cannot sense us now, because I am casting a spell. But in order to move us both out of here, you need to shield us both while I'll be casting the spell … That's it."

"Is that all?" I asked her, and before she answered I asked her again. "We're not at Rome, aren't we? Where are we?"

"Yes, that's all, and we are The French Quarter – New Orleans." She explains to me, in somehow, I don't recall knowing a such a place, but I just felt a shame to have less knowledge than a teenage girl. So, I pretended to know what she was talking about, and I made a note to search for this witch land history once I got out of here alive.

My next move was to create the shield, while the little young witch started doing her witchcraft again.

She took a map, snatched a hair out of my head and another from her hair. Then she took a map, she lay both of my hair and hers in one of the map's corners while start chanting in her own way.

Everything went fine by the first five minutes; I mean that I thought it would only take seconds, not like forever. I was already not in my shape already, so how about now as I'm creating the shield?

The too much time she was not the worst thing to happen at the right moment.

One of the witches got us both out of guard when she shouts, "She's here … They are trying to escape."

Just by then a bunch of witches by the lead of the old witch, "Shame on you Evanora!" was all she said to the old lady, before joining the other witches in their spell.

They were trying to break my shield, but I'm not the one to give. No matter how many they are, I will fight till the end.

"Hurry up … I can't hold on much longer," I shouted at her since other witches were joining the first ones.

And before they started casting their spell on the shield protecting us, the map between the young witch's hands was burned into ashes. A blinding light showed up from between the young witch's hands, and in no time, we were moved to another place.

"What was that?" I asked her, and she didn't answer. Instead, she screamed, "I did it … I can't believe that I did it … We're safe now!" Then she started laughing, I started laughing after her.

Well, to my surprise – she launched herself over me while laughing. I didn't know what to do, besides I was too happy to ruin the moment - So, I ended up hugging her too.

"So, Evanora … Is your name? I heard the old lady calling you that." As I mentioned to the old lady, the smile on the young girl in front of me faded away.

"Hey! Listen to me. You've done nothing wrong, at all. Wanting to live is not a crime, you should be proud of how strong you are to stand against all of them." I tried to convince her that she did nothing wrong, not that I was lying.

I mean, since when fighting for life was to be counted as a crime. No matter what sort of magic she tried; no one has to convince her that she does not deserve a second chance, especially them.
