Chapter - 3

Clyde dropped his son at the school and his wife at the Mt. Quill hospital, where she worked as a nurse. At his office table he was checking on the reviews for his interview article when the chief editor summoned him. The CE smiled when Clyde stepped into the office. Clyde sat down in the chair and waited for his boss to start the conversation.

“Clyde, I've called you in here to tell two things. One; your latest work, it's great, getting good reports. Keep it up.” “Thank you” Clyde replied interrupting the flow.

“Second, the person who was in charge of the Unvoiced Stories resigned his post. The management have decided to put you in charge till fresh recruits are taken, and that's five months time. If you can prove your talent by then, you'll be permanently promoted to that post. This also means, in the five months you'd need to increase the number of subscribers thereby proving your efficiency. I hope my point is clear Clyde?”

“Yes sir, I understand.”

“Ok then, your time starts now.” Clyde rose and left; he was given a new cabin and an assistant, Eden Clive.

The Unvoiced Stories came out every Friday; it always carried an unheard or an unexpected event on the front page and was the responsibility of, now Clyde. The contents will also be aired in the media section the same day. Basically speaking, Unvoiced Stories was a boost up for Teutonia Times. Clyde had just settled in his new office when his phone began to beep, he had a call; he picked the call and put the phone to his ear. He said nothing, only listened to the person on the other side, when the speaking was over, the call declined. Just then Clive walked in,

“Sir, Friday is the day after tomorrow.” He said, “We have to come up with something. Moreover it's your first.”

“I think we have it.” Clyde replied smiling, “Our first stroke of luck. Get ready; we have some work to do.”

The next week's Unvoiced Stories front page carried hot news. The story was a highlight and it read thus: BANKER FRAUDS!? Berlin: The Federal Police (Bundespolizei) on Thursday night arrested Cepher Cohen, MD of the JC Bank, along with three others for an alleged economic fraud of 2.4 million Euros involving the bank’s funds. The fraud came to light during an audit by a statutory auditor who was assigned by the Deutsche Bundesbank. The arrest was made suddenly on Thursday. Further details are kept back and are promised to be revealed later. – Clyde Stewart

Reuben was signing in some documents when his secretary called him to tell about Cepher's arrest. Once he was done with the signing, he left for the Police HQ. Cepher's lawyer was already there when he reached the HQ; soon enough Cepher was brought into the room. When the formalities were over and they were coming out of the Police HQ, they saw Clyde walking towards them, he stopped to talk to Reuben,

“Hi sir,” Clyde began, “what brings you here” he asked.

“Your news report,” Reuben shot back, “I didn't expect this of you, and I thought you are genuine. Well, I don't blame you alone.”

“This was the information I received, and it turned out to be true. And me being the only person to spread the news, I don't have an explanation on that. Anyways, nice meeting you sir.”

“Well it wasn't for me in this situation,” Reuben said and walked towards his car parked nearby. But before he got into his car, he called out to Clyde and said;

“I am waiting for similar materials appearing on your front page.” Clyde smiled and shouted back,

“Sure sir, if that's what people like you want,” he paused and continued, “What say on you making to the front page of my paper?” But Reuben was already in his car and Clyde knew the recent conversation was missed. Well, he thought to himself, he knew Reuben wouldn't miss the next Sunday's headlines.
