Chapter Thirty Eight

"Erin. Please stop crying." He says continuing to rub my back. He finally pulls my hair away from my face and notices my face stained with tears. He looks almost terrified. Could I look that ugly?

Yes.

He pulls me closer to him and let's me lean against him.

"Do you want to go down?" He asks me.

"Yes, please." I whisper and he nods, grabbing both of our toboggans. He motions for me to walk in front of him. He places the toboggans on the ground and picks me up, placing me so gently, I can barely feel the hard, cold seat. He picks up the toboggans and seats himself, holding tightly onto the ropes, letting the toboggans slide down in front of us.

He maintains his distance and doesn't touch me. In fact, he's sitting a good foot away from me. I immediately hate myself. I continue to sob, trying to calm myself down. I wipe the tears away with the gloves and notice they're getting wet, but I do it anyway.
