Chapter Sixty Five

I watch as his face falls in slow motion. His jaw drops open and his eyes are glossy. His fists are clenched and he pulls his jaw back up and I can hear the faint noise of him scraping his teeth against each other. His eyes turn a shade of red, but I can't tell from what. His whole body tenses, the veins popping out from places I didn't know people had veins. He doesn't look at me, but looks down and keeps blinking. He stands up abruptly, causing his phone to fall from in his lap. He curses at it, before picking it up and shoving it into his pocket.

He looks at me one time and shoots me a glare.

"You-you.." he stutters, unable to form a sentence. His eyes scrunch up in pain and he blinks back tears. It all happens so quickly and I'm unable to open my mouth and speak.

It was a joke. I didn't mean it.

But, I guess it's too late, because he's already trying to shove his arm through his jacket sleeve.
