Katherine looked at me in contempt as I activated the skill books. Knowledge rapidly entered my mind, causing my thoughts to briefly become clouded. My body moved instinctively, as I activated [Elemental Companion].
I felt the fire elements in the air begin to react to my summons, as they gathered around me. Small orb like presences began to appear around me, the orbs danced happily in the gathering fire energy. They were Spirits! Fire elemental Spirits!
I grinned as I saw them. I was not too weak! They came! If I managed to contract one of these spirits maybe I would have a chance in this world!
I reached out my hand towards the nearest spirit. Theelemental danced happily around my hand, seemingly eager to be selected. As I went to grab it, and finish the contract I found my hand had slipped through the elemental!
No! how is this possible! Why?? I desperately tried again and again, only for my hand to continually act ethereal as it approached the elementals. It must be a trick! Maybe I was just not acting fast enough.
I rapidly swung my arms, no longer attempting to gently capture one of the spirits, only seeking to touch one to complete the contract. I swung my arm madly, I closed my eyes out of frustration. How many spirits had my hand passed through? It was to many to count.
I vented my frustration as I swung my arm harder. I surprised by the sudden sting in my hand, and the sound of flesh smacking against flesh. My hand had finally grasped something solid. I was surprised by the firmness of it, and the spirit was much larger than I had expected.
At that moment I recieved a notification from the system.
A sense of dread filled my as I slowly opened my eyes. I traced the image of my arm. and finally found its destination. My hand was currently resting on a firm and perky bottom, one that would most definitely reach the top 5 of nicest asses.
Attached to that heavenly bottom was a girl who's face was rather red, but expression on her face stood in stark contrast to the blush on her cheeks. Her expression was that of disdain, but her eyes carried a different emotion, one that I could not recognize, excitement perhaps?
"Are you going to remove your hand? or do I need to do it for you?"
I rapidly moved my hand, but not before giving the beautiful bottom a quick squeeze first. After all an opportunity like this does not come about often.
"I'm sorry Katherine, this is all my fault. If I wasn't so weak this never would have happened."
Katherine looked at me in disdain once again. The look she gave reminiscent of a god looking at an insect.
"You are weak, and for that you should feel sorry." She sighed after she spoke this. "However once I accepted this mission from the goddess my fate was sealed. The [Elemental Companion] skill was meant solely for you to contract me. The goddess feels as if it will give me a second chance at life."
I thought of responding for a moment. Does a criminal such as her truly deserve a second chance? In the end I decided to keep my mouth shut. Instead I asked a different question.
"If you are now a contracted elemental spirit why do you still appear in that form?"
"I only appear like this to you. Each elemental spirit has a humanoid form, but it is only visible to their contracted individual or other elemental spirits."
I nodded, I did not really understand the mechanics behind it, but it was likely true.
"Then how were you contracted? As far as I know you are not connected to the element of fire at all, and you're not even an elemental spirit."
Katherine once again stared at me as if I was an insect. Her gaze caused my skin to crawl.
"I am a heroic spirit. I have transcended the level of regular spirits and was allowed to roam freely through out this world. It is no issue at all for me to take on the guise of an elemental spirit, especially one as weak as you are currently able to contract."
I sighed and scratched my head. Something did not seem quite right here.
"So you are a heroic spirit, bound by an elemental spirit contract, and have no actual connection with fire."
Katherine shook her head. "No, I might have previously had no connection with fire, but becoming your contracted spirit gave me access to the same abilities you have, as well as a few new ones of my own... Though as the lowest grade elemental spirit I only have access to less fire bolt at the moment."
[Lesser firebolt] Does 1 damage to enemy per level, not subject to resistance.
The skill was... well weak. The only perk was that it did 'true damage'. I sighed, because she was subject to my own skills she would need to fire two bolts to do even a single point of damage.
I slowly shook my head and walked away from the demon..I mean beautiful young lady.
"Hey! where are you going?"
I ignored her as I left the summoning hall. I needed to find a way to get stronger, and I was heading towards the only path presented to me.
