He wiped his sword with a handkerchief, sheathed it and sat back on his throne like there wasn't a fresh corpse in the throne room with his name on it.

He ignored the horrified expressions on their faces and settled his gaze on her. "Do you have anything else you would like to tell us?"

She shook her head frantically and found her voice. "That's all, Your Majesty. Please excuse me."

"You may leave."

She nearly couldn't stop herself from running out of the throne room and while she didn't, each step felt like a fiery dagger slicing into her heels.

She only let out a breath when she was out of the throne room. A maid was cleaning her room when she walked in, and she was relieved since she didn't have to go to the kitchen.

"Hey, what's your name?" She asked.

The maid ignored her for moments before she answered while continuing what she was doing, "Mel."

Delaney frowned but let it go. "Well, Mel, could you get me some tea?"
