A conspiracy

Delaney's hands flew to her mouth in disbelief. She would have still hoped that nothing had gone wrong if her sword was not stained in blood and Lev was not hanging onto dear life on the ground.

"What have I done?" She muttered under her breath. Lev was carried away but she was certain that if the cut was as deep as it looked, he would not make it.

"Is this what you wanted?" the knight commander glared at her. "I knew there was something wrong with you when you insisted on coming here. Did your kingdom send you here to kill us?"

It was an outrageous accusation but she knew there was nothing more useless than denying it. They could say whatever they wanted and it didn't matter what she said to defend herself, no one would believe a word of it. She didn't even try to explain herself. She didn't know what happened either. However, she was certain that it was not going to be treated as an accident.
