Trial (4)

"Where are we going?" She attempted to ask. She could barely see a thing, only light filling her line of sight. She waited for either of them to speak and when they finally did, it was a chortle from the guard who had grabbed her.

"To a place of no return." He snorted triumphantly.

She squinted her eyes in confusion. There should be two guards but she could faintly hear a third set of footsteps. There was someone else.

"Can we talk? No matter how much you have been paid, I can pay you more." She pushed, just so the third person could talk.

The two who she had seen laughed at her, but as expected, there was a third voice.

"It's too late, your highness." He said.

It was a voice she recognized and her jaw dropped. Carl?

"How could you?"

Realizing that their cover had probably been blown, the other guards glared at Carl.
