The Helio's Bride

Marlena managed to dodge the attack but she knew she was only delaying the inevitable. She was going to die today.

Knowing she was at a disadvantage and wouldn't get far even if she tried to run, she decided to try and negotiate with her attacker. "How much did he pay you? I will pay ten times more!" While she spoke, she was spying the rock behind the guard. If she pushed him against it with enough strength, he should pass out.

"Your Highness, that's not how it works." The man raised his sword again. Marlena was prepared to push him but before she could, the man screamed and fell.

She looked over in shock to see a long snake slithering out from his body. She took the chance to grab his sword from him, which she used to slice his head off.

She hated to take advantage of her opponent in his weak state but this man didn't deserve to live. If the snake didn't bite him, he would have killed her instead, betraying his master.
