23 - Ana Baby

Ataz wondered what was going on because of how Ana had been acting while holding her cell phone up to her ear.

Ana hung up the phone and sat down irritably on the sofa in the living room, crossing her arms as she turned on the television right away to watch the news. Ataz shrugged and walked towards the kitchen, looking for something to eat.

Ana, realizing that the cat was awake, got up from the sofa and went to the kitchen to give him something to eat. "Did you have a nightmare? You kept moving and having spasms. It didn't look so good," she said as she opened the fridge, looking for something edible.

'No... Not that it's any of your business,' he thought, jumping up on the chair to watch what Ana was doing.

Ana took a small bag out of the refrigerator where, on the packaging, it had a cat drawn, which seemed a little strange to Ataz. She opened it and poured a gooey thing into a small green pot. Then she put it on the table in front of the cat while fiddling with her cell phone.

Ataz turned and was disgusted. The smell was horrible and it didn't look pleasant at all. He looked at Ana, trying to get her attention, as if he was angry for not having the food he would like, but Ana didn't even notice his presence properly, not taking her eyes off her cell phone.

She walked into the living room, again irritated by some conversation she was having and sat down with a frown, without looking anywhere else.

"But what's so important that you'd end up giving me this crap?" Ataz thought as he watched the woman.

Ana's phone rang again, causing her to squeeze her cell phone and say, "What the fuck do you want? Come on? I answered, what was it?"

Ataz could hardly hear what the cell phone said to the girl, but Ana kept dangling her feet on the couch, anxious and irritated by something, as she repeated several times, "I DON'T want you to come here, Stevan."

Ataz watched her, wondering how she could make that voice the center of attention again. 'I didn't want to have to do this, but you asked,' he thought.

The cat jumped out of the chair and walked towards the girl, who was still extremely irritated. He sat on the floor next to her feet and started trying to act charming so that Ana would notice him again. Ataz stood up on his hind legs and stirred his front paws, trying to get Ana's attention.

Ana looked at that scene and said confusedly, "What is it? Is there something stuck in your paw?" She picked up one of the cat's small paws, looking for any thorns or the like. Ataz quickly took it out of Ana's hands, showing disapproval.

"So what is it?" she asked, looking at him.

Before Ataz could demonstrate that he was hungry, someone started knocking on the door. The two looked in the direction of the disturbance and Ana stood up, a little confused and worried. She walked towards the door and there was the man that the cat had seen in the restaurant, standing next to Ana. He was strong and tall, and had a sulky face.

The man was leaning against the wall next to Ana's door, trying to show sensuality to the girl, which was of no use. Instantly Ana stepped away from the door, without taking her hand off the handle and said irritably "Who let you in? I said you weren't supposed to come here."

Ataz turned his head to one side, trying to see who was on the other side of the door. "Ah, so this is the cretin that is preventing my breakfast from being made?" he thought, disapproving all the movements the man made.

"What's up, baby? Is that any way to treat the most beautiful man you've ever seen?" he said as he walked towards Ana, entering her residence.

Ana tried to close the door quickly before he could enter the apartment, however, the man put his foot forward and held the door with his hand, blocking it from closing.

"Calm down, Ana baby! Let's talk a little. It's just a little chat," he said laughing, with malice in his eyes.

He pushed the door open and managed to open it. Ana walked away and seemed to be afraid, holding her cell phone in her hand. She told him to stay away, but the man didn't care a bit about what she said. Ana lifted her cell phone and started wiggling her fingers over the screen quickly, placing it right against her ear. "Get away from me, Stevan. I'm calling the police," she said as she shivered and walked backwards, standing next to the cat.

Ataz continued to calmly face the situation, without showing any kind of fear or insecurity.

The man went quickly towards Ana, holding the girl's arm and taking the cell phone out of her hand. "You're not going anywhere, you bitch," he said, squeezing her wrists tightly.

"I know what you said to Rafael for him to fire me! For what; because I keep rubbing you in the restaurant kitchen? But who told you to walk like such a bitch? You have been teasing me for a long fucking time!" he yelled, trying to push her to the wall, however, he ended up stepping on the cat's tail, causing Ataz to meow in pain.

The man had not even noticed the presence of the feline in the house, he could only look at Ana and nothing else around. When he heard the meow, he looked at the ground towards the cat and looked at Ana, now with a mean smile on his face. "What do we have here, Ana?" he said.

"Do you have a cat? What a laugh!", He said laughing, looking closer to Ataz, who didn't feel threatened at all.

"It must suck to live with a whore like Ana, right? How about I take that burden off you?" he said as he turned his hand towards the cat, trying to hold it.

'Is she a whore? And what's wrong with her being a whore? I don't understand how insults work these days. It was simpler before…' Ataz thought, while looking at his tail, which was still sore, without caring about the threats from this man.

The man then brutally grabbed Ataz by the neck and lifted him up, leaving the cat hanging. 'What the fuck are you doing?' Ataz thought as he was being suspended.

"Don't do this, please! I won't say anything to Rafael anymore, I promise! Just don't touch him, please," Ana said, trembling with tears in her eyes. Even though she had only recently known Ataz, she felt an unconditional love for animals. It would be terrible if someone did harm to a pet near Ana.

The man laughed and walked towards the kitchen, still holding the cat by the neck. He opened the first drawer and found a knife. He turned towards Ana, who was shaking, paralyzed without knowing what to do and pointed the knife at the cat. "Let's see how long he can live, Ana baby?" he said, turning the knife towards the cat.

Ataz turned his face with difficulty towards the man. Even though this man had extreme anger in his eyes, he was not an enemy of Ataz's. His gaze did not come close to that of the monster that attacked him in the park. The man who was in Ana's apartment just wanted to attack the cat because of the girl.

Stevan turned his face towards the cat, who was staring into his eyes coldly, as if there was no soul inside the cat's body. The man felt a chill in his spine as their eyes met, but even in fear, he held the knife firmly in his hand and forced it towards the cat with all his strength.
