Clients Can Wait, My Wife Cannot

The car pulled up to Tipton Enterprises. I came here immediately after Meredith had left the store. I walked swiftly as I entered the building and headed for the elevator. Once the elevator reached the top floor I marched right up to Stacey.

"Hey Kaydence." She smiled as she greeted me. "What can I do for you?"

"Is Damon in? I need to talk to him." I answered.

"He's in a meeting with a client right now. I was just gathering up some things before I went down and joined him. It'll be about thirty minutes. Is that okay?" Stacey asked.

"That's fine. Just let him know I'm here please." I requested.

"Of course." She nodded before heading to the elevator.

I took a seat on the couch outside his office to wait for him. A few moments later I heard the ding of the elevator and looked to see who it was. Damon came out in a hurry. Stacey had only been gone about five minutes, I expected to wait the thirty.

"What's wrong?" He asked with concern as he strode up to me.

"It's not a big deal. It could wait until after your meeting." I responded.

"I was told that you needed me. Clients can wait, my wife cannot." He stated seriously. "You come first."

"Meredith showed up at Amethyst today." I decided to get right to the point of why I was here.

I noticed he clenched his fist tightly. "That bitch just won't listen." he spoke through gritted teeth.

"Why don't you go finish your meeting and we can handle this after?" I suggested. I didn't want Meredith to have any effect on a deal he was working out.

"Okay." he was hesitant but he agreed. "Here, come wait in my office at least." He walked to the door and opened it for me.

"Okay." I stood up and made my way inside of the room.

He didn't let me get in far before he wrapped an arm around my waist and spun me around to face him. He planted a kiss on my lips. "I'll be back as soon as I have this client taken care of. Then we'll talk about this more."

"Okay." I nodded.

He let go of me and shut the door as he left to go back to the meeting room. I felt awkward about being in his office on my own. I hadn't been alone in here very often. I made my way to the massive windows that went from the ceiling to the floor. I figured it could be a cool way to kill some time to look over the city.

I could see the orphanage from here. I could even see Sterling's new school as well. The view was absolutely amazing from here. Tipton Enterprises was one of the tallest, if not the tallest, building's here so it was easy to see everything over the others.

I watched cars move around the streets. It was fascinating seeing how traffic moved from above. I was so caught up in looking out of the window that the thirty minutes passed quickly. I turned around when I heard the door open and close.

"Found a way to entertain yourself I see." A slight smirk appeared on Damon's lips.

"I mean, I didn't know what else to do." I responded.

"Understandable. Sometimes I can look out over the city for hours." he spoke as he headed towards his desk. "Now let's talk about this shall we?"

"Yes." I moved away from the window and took a seat at the desk across from him.

"Tell me exactly what happened." He looked calm but by his tone I could tell he was not pleased Meredith had shown up again.

"She came into the store and tried begging for me to talk with her. She wanted to talk in private but I refused to do so. She apparently feels bad about how she left things with me." I rolled my eyes.

"Of course." he responded with a hint of annoyance. "I guess she didn't take my threat very seriously."

"I told her you wouldn't be happy that she returned." I added.

"And what did she say to that?" He looked at me curiously as he waited for my answer.

"She called you a brat." I answered. "She also said it was none of your business and she feels she has the right to me because I'm her granddaughter."

He let out a malicious chuckle. "Such an entitled bitch she is."

"She also had the audacity to tell me she knew my father better than I did. Can you believe that?" I could feel my anger at her words begin to come back. "That's when I called for Max to make sure she left the store. Then I came here."

"Hmm." he hummed as he seemed to think for a moment.

"What's up?" I asked with a slightly puzzled look.

"I think it's time to show that bitch what we're really capable of." There was a hint of darkness at his words.

"What do you mean?" I could feel myself get a little nervous.

"I'll explain it to you. But I need your permission first." he spoke. "I won't do any physical harm, but I will teach her that maybe she should keep her distance."

I contemplated for a moment. I didn't want him to go too extreme but I wanted her to leave us alone. And after her comments about my father today I wanted her to pay for it. She needed to know I wouldn't let her walk all over me.

"You have my permission." I responded.

"Perfect." A malicious smile crossed his lips. He picked up the phone from his desk. He keyed in a number and brought the phone to his ear.

"Who are you calling?" his actions made me curious.

"Hold on Love." He responded as he waited for whoever he was calling to pick up the phone. Finally whoever it was answered. "Mr. Ryan, it's been a while since we last talked. How are you? Good. Do you still have the details I emailed you a while back? Perfect. I think it's about time you go ahead and proceed to do your best work."

I stared at Damon with a puzzled expression.

"Okay, have it out as soon as possible please." Damon directed. "Thank you, bye." he placed the phone back on his desk.

"What have you done?" I wanted to know what I had just given him permission to do.

"After Meredith showed her face around here the first time I got in contact with a reporter that is well respected." Damon began to explain. "When we first found out about the attempted embezzlement we hid it from the media. But now, I've decided it's only right for everyone to know the truth about the Bushemps."
