I Finished The Dress

I finished the last stitch of detail on the dress. I stood back to admire my handy work. This was it, this was my dream dress. It was going to be absolutely perfect for the ceremony. I could feel the excitement within myself.

I had to share this with someone. I walked to the door of the back room and headed into the store portion of Amethyst. Who better to share my excitement with than my maid of honor?

"Julie." I called her name to get her attention.

She turned her head quickly in my direction. "What is it boss?" She asked.

"Come here." I waved her over as I spoke excitedly.

She got off the stool she had sat on and headed over to me. "What?" She had a look of confusion on her face.

"It's done." I smiled.

"Already?" She seemed surprised that I had been able to start and finish it up so quickly. But I had known exactly what I wanted which made it pretty easy.

"Yes. Come take a look." I grabbed her arm and practically dragged her behind me.

She came into the back room and her eyes immediately fell on the dress that was on the mannequin. It was exactly how I had pictured it in my head. It was an ivory color and strapless. It would hug my body tightly down to my mid thigh where it flared out into a mermaid style gown. I had added lace to it and some bead work on the bust area. It was my finest piece of work in my opinion.

"Kay, it's beautiful!" Julie complimented as she walked around to give it an entire look over. "I've seen you do a couple wedding dresses but I think you outdid yourself this time!"

"Thank you!" I couldn't help the pleased smile that was plastered across my lips.

"Remind me to have you make mine if the time ever comes." She added.

"I'm sure it will." I responded. "Especially after we get this shooter thing figured out I'm sure you and Cody will have all the time in the world to talk about it."

"I hope so." She bit her lip and I could tell she was nervous. Nervous was odd for Julie. Usually she was all about facing things head on.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" She came back with a question of her own.

"Julie." I folded my arms over my chest. "You're nervous about something that's clearly on your mind. Considering it was after my comment it seems to be about Cody. Spill it."

She sighed. "I guess it's only fair if I tell you considering I was the first to know for yours."

"What are you talking about?" I knew my face held a look of confusion. I thought about her words for a moment and that's when it dawned on me. "You're pregnant!"

"Yes." She nodded with a slight smile.

"That's so exciting!" The excitement was clear in my voice.

"Yeah." She responded.

I noticed she didn't seem nearly as excited as I was for her. I walked closer to her to close our gap. "What's wrong Jules?"

"I know I should be happy about this, and I am." She answered. "But I'm also kind of dreading it too. I worry about feeling like I'm on my own with this I guess. Not that Cody wouldn't be around or anything, it's just going to be hard with his schedule still."

"You'll figure it out." I tried to be as reassuring as possible. "Besides, I'm here to help you as much as I can."

"I appreciate it." She smiled.

"So, what are you hoping for?" I couldn't help but ask.

"I don't know. I think it would be fun to have a girl." Her eyes lit up slightly. "Because then our daughter's would be able to grow up together and I think that would be fun."

"That would be amazing." I agreed.

"Either way though, a baby is a baby and I'm very fortunate to get this opportunity." She seemed to be a little more optimistic as her nerves faded away.

"Does Cody know?" I questioned.

Her smile faded. "Not yet. I just found out a week ago and the doctor confirmed with a blood test. I got the results back last night."

"You are going to tell him sooner rather than later right?" I raised an eyebrow in her direction.

"Well of course." She seemed to be getting nervous all over again. "I just don't know how to do it or even when to do it."

"My advice is since you don't have any crazy nephews of his trying to break you up it's probably safe to tell him." I spoke as I didn't have much advice. Our situations had been quite different so my personal experience wasn't very helpful. " As for how to do it, I don't know. I didn't even get to tell Damon about Scarlett which was kind of a bummer. If I could go back I would do it a little differently."

Julie and I continued talking for a while. She did end up deciding that she would tell Cody the news tonight. That way they could figure out a plan of action sooner rather than later. It gave them time to figure out how they could work it all into the schedule Cody had been given by Damon.

I wanted to help further though. I figured Damon and I could have a talk about it a little bit tonight. Maybe he had a way to help make sure that Cody was able to be here for his child. Damon had turned out to be quite the family man so I'm sure something could be figured out for him.

I arrived home and Damon had already beat me here. He was on the floor playing with Scarlett as Sterling drove his toy cars around the living room. I loved this little family of mine. My heart had never been as full as it is now with these three in it.

"Hey." Damon greeted me with a smile. "How was work?"

"It was good." I responded as I sat down on the couch and took my heels off. "I finished the wedding dress."

"Perfect. You have the dress, go get it and we can just go get married in Vegas." He proceeded to wink at me as his joke left his mouth.

"Ha ha. Very funny, but we already did that." I responded with an amused smirk on my face.

"I know. I know." He chuckled.

If someone had told me two years ago that I would end up involved with Damon Tipton I would've laughed in their face. Never did I think I would end up in his home. I sure as hell didn't think I'd get a chance at stealing his heart. The rumors had always been he didn't have one anyway. But to my surprise here we are.
