You Can't Kill Nightmares

Zachariah had been glaring at Damon and I ever since he had woken up. He was securely tied to a chair in a room that was locked. We were in the basement of this warehouse. The warehouse I hadn't even really heard of until recently.

"What's wrong Zach?" Damon asked in a mocking tone.

"Why am I here?" Zachariah spoke through his gritted teeth. He was playing dumb, I couldn't blame him. It was pretty much the only thing he had to even attempt to work with.

"You know why!" Damon's voice practically shook the room as he let out all the pent up rage. He walked closer to Zachariah and collected himself a little more before speaking further. "Here's a little tip for you. When you try to kill someone for that bat shit crazy grandmother of yours, make sure you finish the fucking job you sloppy piece of shit!"

"I don't know what you're talking about." He continued trying to deny what we all knew he had done.

"Really?" A sardonic smile appeared on Damon's lips. He then proceeded to open the file and show Zachariah all of the evidence proving he was a liar. "Looks to me you have a pretty damn good idea what I'm talking about. Stop bull shitting me!"

"You should be fucking dead!" Zachariah spat out. "You should be six feet deep into the fucking ground!"

"Sorry to disappoint you, but here I am. I'm alive and feeling better than I have ever fucking felt in my life!" Damon shot back. "Face it Zachariah, I'm your family's worst fucking nightmare. You can't kill nightmares."

Zachariah remained quiet as he glared at Damon for a moment. Then he finally spoke. "I was doing the job I was given. I thought I had been successful until the news story broke that you had been shot and lived. Imagine how pissed off my grandmother was about that."

"Fucking crazy bitch." I mumbled.

Zachariah turned his attention to me. "I should've known this whole damn thing was too good to be true. Why would you of all people randomly decide to come be a part of the family? But once again for that old hag I did what I was told. Now look at me."

Damon closed the gap in between him and Zachariah. He clenched his fist tightly and gave Zachariah a swift and hard punch to the face. He then proceeded to spit on him. "You're a piece of shit."

"And you're any better?" Zachariah scoffed and followed it up with a chuckle. "So what now? You're going to torture us? Take more from us than you already have? What's the next plan of action from Damon fucking Tipton?"

Damon let out a dark chuckle. "I would much rather you wait in suspense. It's a lot more fun for me that way."

"You psychotic asshole." Zachariah's animosity was clear in his voice.

Damon gave him another punch to the face. He then turned his back to him and headed towards me. "Why don't you and I take a walk while we wait for our remaining guests to arrive. I'm sure you have questions."

I nodded. "You're right."

"Kaydence." Zachariah spoke once more to get my attention.

I looked over at him. His face was softer now, probably to try to get some sort of sympathy from me. "What do you want?" I asked coldly.

"I told you that you were married to a monster. I ask you this once to believe me and maybe reconsider whatever decision it is you made." Zachariah was definitely putting on the act here.

I headed in his direction. Damon attempted to grab my arm but I shook him off. I gave Zacahriah a hard slap to the face. It felt damn good to do it. After everything it was definitely well deserved.

"You made me fear for my safety in my own home. Then you come into my store under an alias. After that you break in and mess it all up, fuck you and fuck your shitty family!" I spat out.

I turned and headed for the door of the room. Damon followed behind me and locked the door behind us. I waited for him to finish and walked back to the door that led outside. I needed to get a little air. My anger was taking full control which was fine, but I also needed to think logically about this.

"How are you holding up?" Damon asked once we were alone outside.

"Fine, I guess." I answered honestly.

"You're uneasy." He observed from my demeanor. "Is it because of the situation or is there more to it?"

"I know you like to have people dealt with. I didn't expect you to have a whole damn warehouse just for getting payback though." I was surprised that over the past year and a half I never knew anything about this until our revenge plot.

"I shouldn't have kept it from you." He stepped closer to close the gap in between us. "This just happens to be where I've had some of the darkest moments of my life. I was worried it might scare you away if you knew."

"I just thought I knew everything about you." I know now was not the time to start overthinking. I was well aware Damon was ruthless when it came to punishments and clearly he needed a private place to carry that out. It still just came as a slight surprise.

"This is where I took Justin's hand and waterboarded my sister before I sent them away." He confessed. "It's where I was bringing people to get answers on who the shooter may be. I can go more in depth with you on who all I have brought here but I feel like now is not the time for it."

I shook my head. "No. I don't want to dwell on the past. I understand why."

He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me against him. "If I had known you could be just as dark and ruthless as myself I probably would've shared it with you sooner. I must say though Love, this side of you is sexy." A dark and seductive smirk crossed his lips.

"Is it?" I raised a brow to entice him further.

His lips crashed down onto mine. We moved in sync for a moment before he took the first opening to slip his tongue inside of my mouth. His tongue then proceeded to dominate mine and I could help the small moan that left my body. Even at his darkest this man still could make me melt in his arms.

We heard the sounds of a car approaching which made him pull away and release me. He turned to look so he could confirm this was the car that contained the Bushemps and Justin.

Darkness took over his voice once again. "Seems our final guests have arrived."
