Act like a fool

On seeing her, Sebastien adjusted his sitting position, an expression of relief spreading over his face. He stared at her waiting for her to speak first. On the other hand, she expected a scolding. They both waited.

"I was starting to get worried," he lied. "Did you eat anything?"

She shrugged, her eyes filled with tears. There was something in the current atmosphere that made her feel sad.

"I've got something left for you from dinner. I tried to do my best. I cannot guarantee it tastes good."

She walked to the table and took a seat in front of him. There was a plate waiting for her and it was cold. She threw furtive glances at him, thinking he must have stayed awake the whole night. He must have known about what was out there, that was why he didn't come out of the house. Sebastien was protected behind the door of his house.
