Dewpaw heard a wail and realized what happened immediately. If only I hadn't pushed him over the edge she thought. She turned to Falconstar and saw grief in his eyes. Could the thunderclan apprentice have been his son? He looks terribly sad perhaps. She watched the river and saw a paw and a cat yowl in the water. She widened her eyes " he's still alive we can go get him we have to!" Her mentor rainstalk said "the river is too rapid and strong you will be swept under." "Well we have to try at least" she hissed. " No dewpaw I'm sorry but it's too strong" she wouldn't take no for a answer and got to the rivers edge and plunged in quickly before anybody could stop her. Unlike the thunder clan apprentice she swam with the current and let it carry her. The river got calmer as it went and saw the thunderclan apprentice!he was still alive but barely he was clinging to a tree branch. She managed to get on the tree branch and yowled "don't hold on let go we have to swim your losing your energy" "no I can't swim anymore" he rasped. "Fine then I'm swimming for you" she said grabbing his scruff and dragging him into the water. She kept his head above water and he kept gasping for air. She fell unconscious through the whole ordeal and probably so did he. She felt sand and pebbles underneath her paws as she awoke. The thunderclan apprentice was a few fox lengths away. She groaned quietly and realized how far they must be from home. Well at least they were alive but we need food now. The river was calm enough to fish in and caught three fish. She heard coughing from the thunderclan apprentice as he awoke. "Ugh what happened" he said. "You fell in the river mouse brain" she hissed. He flattened his ears and stared at the fish. "You can take it" she mumbled "thanks! What's your name mine is Robinpaw." "Mine is Dewpaw" he nodded and started to devour the fish. "Wow this taste good!"he said through a mouthful.
