Chapter 1: Welcome

"Yes! The Demon King Wang Tao is finally dead!" "Now the four Realms can be at peace again!" "It's still a tragedy that the King and Queen of the Heavenly Realm died during the siege." "Now what will happen to the two Realms since both Kings are dead?" "The King's brother will most likely take over the Heavenly Realm until the Crown Prince is old enough to take over the throne." "Really? Then what about the Demon Realm?" "Eh? What about it? The Demon Realm now belongs to the Heavenly Realm, unless one of Wang Tao's relatives is bold enough to challenge the King." "Won't Wang Tao's heir try to challenge the King to take back the Demon Realm?" "Heir? Since when did Wang Tao have an heir?" "Didn't you hear the rumor about Wang Tao secretly having an affair with one of the Cat Spirits in the Heavenly Palace?" "Those are all just rumors and even if they are true do you really think the Royal Family will let that child live?" "HA of course not! What if that child turns out to be just as bad as its father."

16 years later

Today is a very special day, do you know why? It is Wei Jinhai's first day at the Heavenly Realm's most prestigious training academy, Spiritual Training Academy (STA for short). It's not a special day just for Wei Jinhai but for all demons, because this is the first time in history where demons are also allowed to attend the academy. This was all thanks to the Crown Prince Chen Biming.

A few weeks ago the Crown Prince's uncle announced that he was stepping down from the throne and handing it over to Chen Biming. The Royal Family will be holding the official crowning ceremony on the Crown Prince's 22nd birthday in two weeks.

The first announcement the Crown Prince made was that all demons will also be allowed to attend the Spiritual Training Academy. He believed that if they train the demons properly and steer them onto the righteous path, they will be able to live in a world of peace.

A lot of Heavenly Officials were against this idea, but they didn't dare to make any objections to the young King's orders so they all kept their opinions to themselves.

Even though all the demons were excited with this sudden change, Wei Jinhai wasn't really interested in the Academy and was only going for his adoptive mom's sake. Wei Jinhai was raised by his adoptive mom since he was a baby. He always felt grateful towards her so when she asked him to go to the Spiritual Training Academy he agreed.

"Wake up you're going to be late for school," Wei Jinhai's adoptive mom said while dragging him out of bed.

Wei Jinhai groaned and pulled the covers over his head, "Five more minutes."

"If you sleep for another five minutes you're going to miss the introduction ceremony. I already packed all your things," she said while still trying to drag him out of bed.

"Ok ok, I'm getting out of bed now." Wei Jinhai climbed out of bed and put on some casual clothes. He quickly brushed his crimson red hair while grabbing all his things. He said goodbye to his adoptive mom and walked out the door.

While he was walking, somebody from behind almost jumped on top of him and flung their arm round his shoulders.

"Qi Chaoxing? What are you doing here?" A beautiful girl with orange-red, slightly curled hair and pale brown eyes looked at him in disbelief. She gave a light scoff, "Why do you think I'm here?"

"I don't know that's why I asked," he shrugged. Qi Chaoxing rolled her eyes and was about to say something when someone spoke from behind.

"We are here for the same reason you are. There is only one road that leads to the Spiritual Training Academy." A boy with pitch black hair, dark brown eyes, long pointed ears and sharp fangs walked up to them. He was much taller than the other two so they had to look slightly up when he walked towards them.

"Mo Dingbang? I didn't know the two of you would come." Wei Jinhai looked at them rather surprised. For as long as he could remember the three of them had always ditched school and never paid any attention to their studies.

"Hmph, do you think we had a choice?" Mo Dingbang looked rather irritated that he was forced to go to school again. Wei Jinhai felt rather stupid for asking that. Mo Dingbang's family is the most powerful family in the Demon Realm other than the Demon King's and Qi Chaoxing is the princess of the Fox Spirits so naturally they were forced to go.

The Fox Spirits are divided into three clans but the Qi clan is the most powerful. The Qi clan consists mainly of females because they are very well known for their seduction skills. The Fox Spirits were originally part of the Spiritual Realm but since they caused too much trouble, they were sent to the Demon Realm.

Wei Jinhai coughed, "Right we better get going otherwise we will miss the introduction ceremony."

The three of them had been friends since childhood so they were chatting, laughing and fooling around on their way to the Academy.

They continued chatting until they reached a Golden Gate.

There were two guards with stern, expressionless faces guarding the gate.

They were both wearing silver armour with a sword at each side and they each had a pair of silver angel wings.

The three of them looked at each other debating who should walk up to the guards first.

Wei Jinhai ended up being the one that had to walk up to them.

One of the guards looked at him, "State your business here."

Wei Jinhai took a deep breath, "We're here for the Spiritual Training Academy."

The guard looked at the three of them closely before saying, "Name, family, age, realm."

Qi Chaoxing answered first, "Qi Chaoxing, Qi clan of the Fox Spirits, 16, Demon Realm."

The guard furrowed his brows while looking at a long list. He finally ticked something off and said, "Access granted."

He then handed an ID tag to her.

Mo Dingbang answered next, "Mo Dingbang, Mo family head's son, 16, Demon Realm."

The guard ticked something off the list again with an even bigger frown on his face and handed him his ID tag.

Wei Jinhai slightly hesitated before answering, "Wei Jinhai, adoptive son of Wei residence, 16, Demon Realm I think?"

"...What do you mean you think?" The guard asked rather irritated.

"Well, I was found near the border of the Heavenly Realm so I could have been born there, but I look half Demon."

The guard looked slightly confused, "Wei Jinhai right?"

He looked at the list and ticked something off then gave Wei Jinhai his ID tag.

He turned to the other guard and said, "Open the gate."

The gate opened and the three of them walked in.

It was silent until Qi Chaoxing started laughing and said, "That reminded me of the time when we were in elementary school and while everyone already had their fangs and ears, you didn't, so all the kids avoided us until Middle school when you finally had your fangs."

"Qi Chaoxing! You have no filter!" Mo Dingbang said sternly while giving her a light glare.

Wei Jinhai laughed, "No need to lecture her. I really don't mind."

It's half true. He doesn't mind if those two talk about it because he knows they don't mean any harm, but when others talk about it he gets slightly uncomfortable.

They quickly ditched that topic and started talking about their embarrassing childhood moments.

After some time they finally reached a bunch of huge buildings.

Outside the biggest building, which is probably the main building, there were a bunch of kids that looked 15 to 17 years old.

The kids looked like they divided themselves into two groups and both groups were glaring at each other. No need to even think how the groups were divided.

Once the one group saw Mo Dingbang, they ran over and dragged him to their group.

They even asked which Spirit race Qi Chaoxing was from before pulling her to their group as well.

One little demon wanted to drag Wei Jinhai with as well, but stopped and looked at him with uncertainty.

"Which Realm are you from?" The little demon asked. The other group also came slightly forward to hear the answer.

"Demon Realm," Wei Jinhai sighed.

The other group looked slightly disappointed, but their expressions quickly changed back to frowns.

"But how come you don't have the pointy ears? You have the fangs but not the ears," the little demon asked sounding very confused.

Wei Jinhai sighed again, he really hoped no one would notice, but that was just his wishful thinking, "I'm only half demon, that's why I only have the fangs."

Everyone looked shocked that there could actually be a person of mixed race, since the other races weren't friendly with the Demon Realm at all.

A girl Cat Spirit asked, "Which other Realm are you from?"

At this point the whole school almost seemed interested in his private life.

Wei Jinhai really wanted to avoid this question, but everybody was looking at him expectingly so he answered gloomily, "I don't know...I've never met my parents."

Before anybody could say anything else, a bell started ringing loudly.

Wei Jinhai let out a breath of relief as everyone immediately turned to face the main hall.

A short, middle-aged man with grey hair walked out of the building and stood on top of the steps. He was wearing a black suit with a dark blue tie.

He looked around at everyone and smiled, "Hello everyone, I am Headmaster Shen. Welcome to Spiritual Training Academy."
