Chapter 2: The Prince

Everyone looked super excited to see Headmaster Shen, probably because he was one of the most highly respected Heavenly Officials during his youth.

It was also said that he played a big role in the siege against Wang Tao.

Rumors say that during the siege he got seriously injured, that's why he retired early and decided to open a school to train the next generations.

All the angels and spirits were staring at Headmaster Shen in admiration and whispered excitedly to one another.

While other students were excited, the demons felt a bit uneasy and shuffled closer to each other instead.

The Headmaster seemed to notice their uneasiness and chuckled, "No need to be so on guard. I'm not like the other simple-minded Officials. I'm looking quite forward to this new change actually."

Some of the demons seemed to relax a bit after hearing the reassurance, but the others still kept their guard up, Mo Dingbang being one of them.

The Headmaster said, "Okay, enough with the waiting. We are already behind schedule as it is. Will all the students lead into the Grand Hall, starting with the first years."

The first years timidly lead their seniors towards the Grand Hall.

The Grand Hall was a huge auditorium with a raised platform in the front. There were lots of rows of chairs in front of the platform and a giant chandelier hung from the ceiling.

Wei Jinhai looked around in awe. This was his first time seeing anything so grand. All the schools in the Demon Realm only had small, wooden sheds as classrooms. The other demons were also looking around, gaping at the magnificent sight before them.

There was a pathway dividing the chairs to two sides. The one side was occupied by the angels and some spirits, while the other was filled by the demons and the rest of the spirits.

Wei Jinhai, Mo Dingbang and Qi Chaoxing sat in the third row. Wei Jinhai took a look around at the other students and once everyone was seated, he noticed that there were three unoccupied chairs in the first row on the angels' side.

"Why are there three empty seats?" Wei Jinhai asked Mo Dingbang rather curiously.

"Where?" Mo Dingbang replied expressionlessly.

Wei Jinhai pointed at the three seats, "Over there in the front row."

Mo Dingbang looked over to where he was pointing and just shrugged, "Maybe they're saving those seats for someone important."

Qi Chaoxing who overheard their conversation butted in, "I know, I know! Earlier I overheard a bunch of girls gossiping about some handsome prince and young master. Maybe it's for them."

Mo Dingbang rolled his eyes and said, "When will you get over your nasty habit of eavesdropping on people?"

"Hey!" Qi Chaoxing exclaimed trying to sound offended, "I was just passing by and overheard someone say handsome prince, so naturally I would stay and listen!"

Mo Dingbang scoffed, "I'm pretty sure you weren't just 'passing by'. Those are your usual gossip buddies are they not? And I bet you even had a one hour gossip session with them after that."

"MO DINGBANG, YOU BASTARD!!" Qi Chaoxing screeched.

While they continued bickering a lot of people turned to watch, but Wei Jinhai was used to it and couldn't be bothered.

Instead he was still curious about who could be so popular that the entire school would save front row seats for them.

Just as he was trying to gather his thoughts and suppress his curiosity, Headmaster Shen walked into the Grand Hall with a number of teachers following behind.

Everyone quietened down and the Grand Hall was filled with silence, even Qi Chaoxing and Mo Dingbang stopped their bickering.

The teachers walked onto the platform and stood in a row behind Headmaster Shen.

Headmaster Shen cleared his throat and said, "I would like to start off the introduction ceremony by welcoming the new students and first years. As you are all aware, there will be some changes this year so I hope the second and third years would kindly assist the new students if they have any problems."

A lot of the older students looked displeased at this request and glanced towards the demons with a sour expression on their faces.

"You will all be grouped into different classes," Headmaster Shen continued, "Mrs. Liu will be in charge of the Spirits Department, Mr. Bai will be in charge of the Angels Department, Mr. Zhang, a teacher from the Demon Realm, will take care of the Demons Department and Mr. Li will help you with your Physical Training classes."

He gestured towards the four teachers on his left. "Each race will have their main classes separately, since you all have different abilities. However, you will have your Physical Training classes together."

A few of the students let out a groan after hearing the last sentence, but Headmaster Shen paid no attention to it and continued, "To those of you who will be staying in the dorms, once the ceremony is over you can go to the notice board to check which dorm you will be staying in."

Just as Headmaster Shen was about to continue with his speech, the Grand Hall's doors started to open, making such an ominous sound that all the students turned around to see who it was.

Wei Jinhai had to stand up, due to his extremely short height and the fact that all the other kids were half-standing up in front of him, to try and get a peep of who was at the door.

The only thing he could see were the outline of three people slowly making their way to the front.

Judging by all the girls' giggling and squealing, they must be that Prince and young master Qi Chaoxing mentioned.

As they were getting closer to the third row, Wei Jinhai could finally get a good look at them. The one on the right had bright, golden hair and was wearing a frown on his face which made him look very arrogant.

There was a cute girl with long, fawn coloured hair on the left, but Wei Jinhai didn't pay much attention to them.

The one that caught his eye however, was the one in the middle.

He had pale blonde hair with bangs that fell just over his eyebrows, with a pair of matching pale, ice blue eyes. He had an expressionless look on his face, which made him seem superior, as they continued to make their way to the front row.

As he passed the third row, Wei Jinhai could have sworn he saw him take a slight glance at him.

"That must be the Prince," thought Wei Jinhai.

Once the three of them reached the front row, the Prince looked at the Headmaster for a few seconds before giving a small bow.

The other two beside him did the same.

The Headmaster gave a big smile and said, "Ah! How nice of the young Prince to join us! You too young Master Jin, Miss Hua."

The three of them took another bow before turning around to sit in the three reserved seats in front.

The Headmaster continued, "You three haven't missed much, only the announcement about the classes with the new students joining us. It will be the same as last year, the only difference is that the demons will join your Physical Training classes."

The golden haired one called Jin gave a loud scoff, that could be heard from the middle row.

Some students gave him a displeased look while others just laughed. The teachers also gave him a disapproving look.

The Headmaster decided to ignore his actions and continued with his speech, "If any students are not sure where the classrooms are, the school map will also be on the notice board. And under NO circumstances are you allowed to cause any harm to another student. If you do, you will be severely punished."

The Headmaster then started to state the school rules.

Once he finished stating them he said, "The school only has a few rules, so I really hope you will follow them. Today was just the introduction, you will start your classes tomorrow. Your timetables will be in your dorms, except for those who will not be staying in the dorms, it has been sent to you by mail. Thank you all for attending, you may be dismissed." And with that, the welcoming ceremony came to an end.

The students started leading out of the Hall, some students went home while others went to look at the notice board.

Wei Jinhai, Mo Dingbang and Qi Chaoxing were going to stay in the dorms, so they went to check which rooms they would be staying in.

"Ah, it looks like we are staying in different dorms," Wei Jinhai said to Mo Dingbang while scanning the list, "It seems like I'll be sharing a room with three other people."

"Hmm, I'm only sharing with one," Qi Chaoxing said as she pushed her way to the front.

"According to the map, the dorms are the buildings on the left side of the Grand Hall." Wei Jinhai said while trying to take a mental picture of the map.

The three of them made their way out of the Hall and walked towards the dorms.

There were already a bunch of students running around trying to find their room.

There were two big buildings, one most likely for the boys and the other for the girls.

Qi Chaoxing already made her way to the girl's dorms.

Wei Jinhai and Mo Dingbang walked through the halls trying to find the right rooms.

Mo Dingbang found his first and went in to start unpacking. Wei Jinhai had to walk past another three rooms until he found his.

As he opened the door, he stopped dead in his tracks. He dropped his bag and just stood there staring at the person inside.

"...It's you?"
