Chapter 3

I knew I showed him magic when I caught him smile amusingly. His narrowed eyes pointed to the ridiculous words I said.

I really didn't mean to say something unexpected. It's one of my stupidest traits; I blurt out what I think more often, without thinking of the consequences of my words.

My eyes darted to my feet; I was certainly embarrassed and I didn't want to see him mocking me for it.

"It is certainly big. Are you interested in knowing what else is big?"

My eyes dropped to the area below his belt, imagining what hid behind it. My mouth went dry and I brushed the image with my hand.

I mean I never saw it before and the stories I read since coming here to learn about love didn't describe it.

This put the idea of looking more into it in my head later. I should know about it. I think I saw somewhere in Anais life that she had intercourse. Huh?

"I am talking of course about my mind. I am intelligent; the dream guy of all girls in the world," he shook with laughter. "I am here to warn you; Do not meet other guys in private and have sex with them. I don't tolerate my wife doing nasty things. Don't be a nasty kitten, my Love."

"And if I don't listen to papa Andre, what might happen?" I crossed my arms, the shadow of a grin on my lips.

"Then I will have to beat you up, my kitty cat. Do you know how much I like seeing women wriggle under my touch?" One step was enough to make my back against the wall. His hand loomed menacingly around my face, his finger travelling around the edges of my face. My mouth was rendered speechless.

"You might have thought we communicated well but for starters, you seem to forget how we met. You certainly enjoyed loving an employee of mine."

I didn't want to admit it but I melt under his gaze. I was no exception from the girls he spoke about. He was closer than ever to me and strangely, from the first time I saw and touched his hand, I was aware of an effect he had on me.

I was stupid to think he was friendly. Furthermore, I don't know when Anais loved his employee. I bit my lower lip to contain my rising frustration with my heart rate that kicked up. He lowered his head to whisper in my ear.

"Still thinking of disobeying, mon chaton! You definitely have something different since the first time I met you. Tell me what you did… Did you meet some kind of sorceress or-"

I grabbed the hand that went to my chest. No, no… That place was a private area only the one meant for you needs to touch it.

I believe in true love and a fated partner and I don't want to make Anais a whore. My fingers and his intertwined like a knot.

"You certainly like that. Playing with feeling… I admit you got me there for a second but my love… Your lines are cheesy and surreal. Do you believe in magic and such? I don't see what you mean.

Dear husband, I promised and I won't go back on it. It is only a year. It isn't such a long time to say that I would miss my fated one."

Andre yanked his hand out of mine and ignored my laughter. I thought my heart was going to burst for a moment there. My laugh was just a way to hide the intimidation he imposed on me. I certainly mustn't in any moment try to offend him.

In addition to his imposing frame, he had that look. The one that made you quiver in fear and hide; it was like a predator had finally found its prey, except I was the prey.

"You must remember this, my Love. Never try to cross swords with me; your family might be on the line here."

"Don't make me give you an example of what might happen because you won't like it and I won't like it either because I will waste energy that I might use somewhere else," he adjusted the position of his sleeves and walked away.

I sank to the floor as soon as the door closed with a loud bump. It was as if my heart stopped beating for a moment and returned to life. Why did Anais put herself in this position?

I was Anais now and better be clever like her if I want to survive. I don't think he was joking; something about him radiate danger.

I steeled myself, grabbed my bag and went to the elevator, leaving the stairs behind. After what happened, I don't want to be there for the moment.

Once I got out of the building, I received a message from Darcie stating to find her next to 'the turret bridge' then I got a call from Julie telling me to not come back. It wasn't like I did great there but it was already humble to call after what happened.

I had no idea what just happened in that interview and she called me to not come back. I am feeling like a big shot.

Right when turned a corner, I heard someone signalling to me to stop. I pivoted and met the stranger right in her face. She was a brunette with freckles.

"It's been a rough day. Isn't it?" she gasped for air. "You were late so I thought you left already. I am glad I met you again," the world was a better place when she smiled.

"I am Louise. I was a candidate like you. I waved at you for a while but you were busy with your story."

"I am Anais. Nice meeting ya. How did your interview go? Did she make fun of you or was I the only one?"

"Oooh! Did she? She never did. In fact, she was lovely. Did you know her before?" she raised an eyebrow and I did the same internally.

"Julie Charpentier is known for her strict manners and hard schedules. In fact, I look up to her. Alexandre Flambert and her make an incredible duo; since they got their positions in the Love Prism, the magazine rose to popularity.

I definitely like her. If I want to reach her height, I need to work hard."

"You are taller than her. I think she is the one who needs to work to reach your height," I smirked.

"My interview went horrible; she made fun of me all the time. It is my first time in Paris and I have never seen her face in my life. I thought I could have this job and that I had a road in gold somehow but I was wrong."

"I have been in Paris for three months and I hate being in competition with a nice person like you," her phone rang. "I am sorry. I need to leave now. Nice to meet you too!"

Like this, she turned on her heels and engaged in a race. It must be so hard to run on them. I can't wear anything like that.

I hurried to where Darcie waited for me. I found her with two full bags of food and a radiant smile.

"Are we ready to celebrate your job? How did it go?"

"I didn't get it. She had me on her wrong side from the beginning even when I did nothing. Such a shame when she is so admired by some people!"
