It could've been a Good day, for Catherine. She woke up peacefully from a good dream and she has felt truly rested from her sleep. She peaked outside her window from above her bedroom and saw the world in its usual new state. She was almost accustomed by it, after all she has no excuses not to get used to it. As she went downstairs to her kitchen, she opened a can of meatloaf for her breakfast breaking her rule of only eating once a day due to how hungry she felt, after waking from her slumber. She also thought that it's best to stick to cans foods instead of cooking, because as she saw in the Survival videos that she watched, it's better not to attract herself some attention. She was sitting on the table of her dining room. happily eating away the meatloaf that she took. Her phone is set beside her with her earphone inserted but with only one of the earbuds inside her ear. She was gladly eating it away to remove her hunger, feeling the joy of eating while she thought the day would play out normally. As she finished her meal, she decided to head upstairs but before she even reached the stairs, she stopped. It might have sounded faint, but she is Positive that she heard something from a distance. She tried to listen closely and there it was again, only this time louder and nearer. A sense of panic is starting to boil inside her, she might've not fired a gun before but with the years she spent with her father she knew what that sound is, Gunshots.
She stood near her stairs in solid fear, she knows why she is hearing it and quickly came into a Conclusion. But her curiosity sparked, she has to truly know what she heard. So with all the courage that she has, she bravely but slowly approached her window. As she went closer and closer, the sound began to sound closer as well, but it didn't deter her as her curiousity begs her to know what is going on. Eventually she reached the window besides her door, she slowly swayed the curtain blocking the window to see the outside. At first nothing seemed out of the Ordinary until she looked closer and realized that the Humvee parked in front of her house is gone. It could've been the only odd occurrence outside until she looked to the left side and saw a Helicopter crashing into the nearby houses.
As soon as the Helicopter crashed, chaos ensued around her, a siren went off making the situation far worse and more dreaded. The gunshots she heard are know far more closer and she knows that she has to leave. She picked up her go-bag checking it thoroughly first to make sure that she has everything that she needs. As soon as she knows that she is ready she went straight to her door, ready to run for her life. But that would be in vain, because as soon as she stepped outside it was apparent that it was mistake. Several Humvees came from battle announcing everyone to stay inside and not far from where they came from, a swarm of UFBO's followed them. Thankfully she was still near her house and she was still able to run inside. As she locked and closed her door, she could hear them walking just inches away outside her door. She stood there silently in fear as she could hear them try and smell her through her door. She slowly walked away from her door. trying to reach her bathroom as quietly as Possible. With every step that she takes, she can feel herself getting nearer to salvation.
She was about to get inside when she noticed one of them coming near her window. Shocked to see this, she quickly went inside her bathroom to avoid it seeing her. But with her panic she unintentionally slammed the door hard, echoing a loud sound inside her house. She thought that was it, that they would make their way inside to find her and eventually kill her. She can hear them growl wildly outside, as if she confirmed their suspicion of someone being inside. Then there was a bang, followed by another and another. She started closing her eyes, thinking that this is it. This is her final hours and she should be ready for it. After a few continuous banging on her door, it stopped. At first she thought that its inside her house, trying its best to find her, but then she heard a growl outside, she couldn't see what was happening but she can only make out that it saw something more interesting, as it can hear its growls and footsteps fade away.
An untold and unmeasurable relief flowed through her, she thought she knew what relief is already, but now she truly does. She contemplated on going out her bathroom, before finally deciding to stay inside for a while. She grabbed her phone that she thankfully put inside her pocket, she quickly tried to contact her family and fiancee but it was no use. There is no signal for the phone to use. She let it go for a while, hoping that they made it out. After a while of sitting on the cold tiles of the bathroom floor, the room turned dark, signaling that the Power is out. It startled her at first, but she realized that the worse is about to come. With the cold outside she knew that eventually the remaining heat would disappear and that she would have to find ways to warm herself. Her furnace came to mind but then she realized that it might bring her attention. Right now she is hard in thought, thinking of her place now and whether or not she should leave.
She went to her door finally getting the courage to open it, just so she can fully see whether she should leave or not. As she slowly opened the door she peaked through the cracks, trying to see if anything is outside, but thankfully there isn't. She slowly made her way outside the bathroom checking her front door first, and she's glad to see that its still intact. She closed the door quietly this time not wanting to repeat her mistake earlier. She slowly scanned and made her way in the first floor checking it's every corner making sure that she's truly alone in her house. After a minute or so of doing so, she secured her house and made her way upstairs. She decided to take advantage of the window upstairs in her bedroom to see the outside fully, just so she would know if it the coast is clear. As she peaked through the window she realized how lucky she is. Numerous UFBO's are outside some flying and some on the ground, they appear to be searching houses, trying to see if anyone is inside. And that is her answer she knew she couldn't do anything but stay inside, not making any sounds and hoping that the UFBO's would disappear.
She sat near her bed and tried to plan out how she will go outside safely even without the UFBO's just outside her door. She can't use her phone to Navigate since there is both no power and internet to guide her. She thought about going to the woods to shelter herself from attention, using the trees so the flying ones wouldn't at least see her, but it's a long walk and if she took it she might be too late to arrive at her parent's house. She couldn't do anything yet but relax and wait for a while. She could only hope that after they disappear there is still something for her to run to.
