Silent Panic

It's an understatement to say that the Country is in a Panic right now. "The Superior? Land Based UFBOs? I thought they were all flying?!", are words that the Paranoid Netizens who are only able to truly say their thoughts online, propagate as they try to grasp and accept the situation they are in. The media is on Damage Control, reminding the Public that the PSA shown yesterday is factual and truthful until the last part in which everyone is aware of. If you thought that the Past few days have been quiet, then you have no idea how silent it is now. You can almost feel that you're the last man on earth in a sea of UFBO's due to how dead silent it is outside. Even the National Guard is quiet after the announcement. Their vehicles as of now, seemed to be nothing more but huge metal covers sheltering mechanical parts along the road and pavement outside.

Catherine just talked with his family and fiancee, each and every single one of them is shocked and scared about what is truly going on. Her father urged her to make sure that both her Gun and Ammo are by her side. It might not kill them, but atleast it can buy her some time. His father is checking every available weapon they can use to defend themselves in case the worse case scenario occurs. Joseph along with his Companions at the tire shop, are trying to see what they can use to defend themselves and he is worried that the bolts and tires they have will not give them any chances for Survival. They decided to stay at the storage room of the shop since they figured it would be safer inside with an exit that they can easily use in case one of them gets in.

He also talked to Jonathan, who told her that he is busy preparing his weapons and calming her Mother down. Jonathan and his mother are going to stay down at the basement since it would be safer there. He advised Catherine to get to her basement as well but she can only wish she could just stay below, because unlike her bestfriend, her door to her basement is outside. In truth is, she is panicking and scared, she doesn't even want to hold her gun thinking she'd just fire it mindlessly the moment she hears a Noise outside. She thought about isolating herself in her bathroom but she thought that it could make her more vulnerable since she wouldn't immediately know what is going on Outside. She tries her best to calm herself because she knows she has to be. She went up to her room, remembering the advice Jonathan gave him about making herself a "Go-bag" incase she has to flee outside. Jonathan advice her to prepare everything that she will need, since she can be outside for a long time. She went through her closet once again, checking for the largest backpack that she has. Luckily she was able to find one, a camping bag Joseph bought for her last month. She checked every part of the bag making sure that it can be used, luckily it's in a good condition. She hurriedly grabbed her Documents and put each and every one of them in the bag. After she was done with it she went downstairs quietly, with her bag hanging on her shoulder making her look like a cartoon burglar.

She checked the box of supplies she has gotten from the National Guard yesterday, since most of the supply given to her are already in her kitchen, most of it went to the bag while she kept some incase her rations went out. Along with her food and her documents some of her Ammo went inside the bag as well. She sat down at the floor next to her bag after all the preparation that she has done feeling exhausted after rushing to get her things ready. Although she is Panicking, her actions of preparing her bag took away some of it, calming her down in some way. She sat there for a while to fully calm herself, after all, a calm mind is a Luxury these days. Calmness was soon with her and now she has the courage to move freely in her own home. She pondered about finishing her painting standing still in her garage. She wanted to dive in again to her fantasy world, but ofcourse right now is not the right time. But she is desperate to have something to amuse and distract her and what better way to do that then to use her phone?

She first searched for her earphones just so she wouldn't emanate any sound outside, which would potentially attract attention. She tried to watch or read anything that might distract her from the current events. She did found somethings to amuse her, but from time to time, her eyes still glides to her door and surroundings making sure she isn't missing anything. After about an hour or two of using her phone she did dropped it and her curiosity peaked. She wondered what the outside would look now compared to what she saw early in the Morning, but of course when she took a peak outside, it was still the same. She might've been scared early on but now she is just bored, trying to find ways to entertain herself without being too distracted. But there isn't anything on the Internet that she finds amusing. After a while of mindlessly scrolling through her phone she did find something that that caught her eye, something she usually doesn't have any interest in. There is going to be a guest on the local news channel Later on in which the anchor will have a Debate with. Usually these kinds of things doesn't appeal to her, but right now she figured, why not? She might be avoiding the existence of the current events, but for her there isn't really anything better.

As she doubled check her supply starting from the water she set aside days ago to her food and other supplies, time passed by and as the night Approaches the eerie silence present early on is now starting to become worse. Soon enough, it was almost as if pure darkness is circling around her house., trying it's best to engulf every single structure the eye can see into its grasp. The program is about to to start, and for the first time in her life she is actually excited to watch one or maybe it's just to feel less lonely. She doesn't know what she'll really hear but she hopes that it will help her in some way. She went to her room, since she figured she will try to sleep after she watches the debate. Her earphones and phone are with her and are also waiting for the debate to start. She sat at the side of her bed just close to the door with one of her earphones hanging and dangling just so she can hear anything that might happen outside. The program started and the intro played followed by the News Anchor greeting the audience watching the Program. After a few short introductions and formalities, the anchor then introduced the guest and the debate commenced.

The guest is a field researcher named Edward Stone, who the Anchor says is a Skeptic about the PSA announced yesterday. Mr. Stone introduced himself further and he clarified that he is not a full skeptic about the PSA, only some of it, mainly how they researched and Conducted field testing. First he argued that the time in which the government conducted both the research and field testing to be Questionable since it has only been a few days since the Lockdown or Stay in announcement has been ordered. He believes that the data gathered is insufficient and he finds it odd that there aren't any Public records of their findings. He finds it odd in a sense that it is too fast. For him, it's only been days since the Lockdown orders have been announced and the research seemed a bit fast. He also doesn't agree that October 16 is the exact date that the UFBO's appeared since there are actually sightings of these creatures months before. Catherine scratched her head upon listening to this remembering the videos that she watched awhile back, showcasing the once mysterious creatures in the sky.

The Anchor responded that there is really no way of verifying the earlier accounts as either real or a Hoax. He also added that 3 Government Organizations have verified that date so he find its unlikely that the exact time and date would be wrong. Stone replied that they've actually been wrong in a certain way, earlier this month a Homeland Security Announcement stated that these seen Creatures are nothing of concern as they are hoaxes. The Anchor sighed upon hearing his Argument, arguing back that this was early on and that it's either they haven't gathered that much data or the UFBO's hasn't really appeared yet. Stone disagreed with that since it is their Job to know this and if they did look into it and knew that it could a threat, why is that only months after did they let out a PSA and an announcement. The anchor simply replied that they could be avoiding a Public Panic and that maybe they thought they could stop it from getting out of hand. Stone argued that they automatically had things under control even when they are Present and wreaking havoc on the country, there are no Riots or mass Panic since the Lockdown has been ordered so he thinks that an earlier action would play out the same.

The Anchor then changed the subject asking him why he thinks that the data on the PSA lacks proper research and field testing. Stone first pointed out that the PSA classified them as a Human sub-species, but what sub-species exactly? and if they possess the same internal and external organs, as well as all the other parts that define a Human body, how is that they are impervious to bullets? The Anchor at first tried to pick up his thoughts, stumbling his words, but eventually he did replied and only really argued that maybe they are evolved in some way. But ofcourse, stone disagreed with it and he argued that if they are a Human Sub-species bullets can take them down easily, but if they aren't taken down by bullets then he doesn't believe that they are a Subspecies, let alone a human. He also pointed that there is no Mention of the low temperatures present in almost the whole country. He argued that the temperature has been dropping slowly since then, especially when they are around. The Anchor simply smiled and laughed at this time, telling Doctor Stone at first how much he knows as a Field Researcher, and that they have to probably get another expert for him to argue with. He thanked Stone for appearing at the show and he hopes that the viewers had a great time on this mini debate. He announced that they will be scheduling a debate sometime next week with Mr. Stone and a Representative in the Government. Mr. Stone, obviously surprised by the sudden stop of the Debate, thanked the Anchor for the time and said that he's more than happy to appear once again.

The outro played and Catherine was just there, in deep thought about what she just heard. Ofcourse with the way that Mr. Stone is presented his Argument, he is making it seem that the Government is either lying or wrong in their findings. She likes to believe that maybe this was a shock to them as well and that they are picking up every little pieces that they could find just to bring something to the table, but at the same time she couldn't help but feel that maybe Mr. Stone had a point. She could've thought of it all night long, but there are better and more urgent things to think about such as her safety. She got up from the floor she is standing on, walking slowly towards the window of her room facing the streets , trying to see what is going on outside. There is nothing but darkness and silence outside, all the houses looked hollow and lonely with only the darkness and silence making their home inside. She went to her bed sitting at it first and thinking about the debate and the events happening around her. There is a sense of both hopelessness and dread brewing up inside of her, all she could see and hear right now is the dark reality waiting for her outside her door. But it isn't right to fill your thoughts with such negativity, after all a calm mind is Luxury these days. So she instead lied down to her bed, trying her best to erase every negative thought inside her head while at the same time hoping things will be better.
