"I can't believe that Bald headed prick was right"
"Who?"
"Stone, the researcher, the one on TV"
"But...I don't get it why would they lie?"
"I don't know, but maybe he's right on that one too"
Catherine and Jonathan spent the whole night discussing what's happening. Their close encounter was enough to keep them up through the night but their questions paved the way to cement that for them. On one hand they know that they have an advantage, both the Gun and the wood that Catherine is carrying can be a great help when it comes to a life or death situation, but on the other hand what are the other things that the Government doesn't know or even worse, what are they hiding?
They can't see the outside but they know that it's morning, birds chirping filled the sounds of quietness through the night, reminding them that they are not alone on this world. As much as they don't want to go out again, they know they have to. Jonathan volunteered to peak outside first before they leave, after he hints that the coast is clear they both went out again, gambling their chances to make it to the house. It's a long walk through the forest but it's comforting for them to hear birds and the ambience of different animals and bugs around them. Jonathan isn't sure if Catherine Noticed it but ever since they left the house and saw their would be looters, the world has felt....empty. Almost as if that they are last people on earth. But he knows that Catherine has too much on her mind right now, her fiance who is far away from her and the whereabouts and well being of her family is what Jonathan knows is in her mind right now.
The forest might be more bearable this day, but the threat of the UFBO'S is still looming over them. The trees are a great cover to those flying around, but they still have to keep an eye out on the ones on the ground. As much as it is needed, Catherine couldn't bear to just walk there in the forest quietly. She wanted to start a conversation but she doesn't know what they should talk about or even if they should talk about anything at all. After pondering for about a a minute or two, she finally decided what she wanted to ask.
"You know, after all this time you never really told me why haven't found someone yet" Catherine asked as she walked through muddy terrain of the forest
"Well there's a lot of reasons why", Jonathan answered.
"Well what are they then?", Catherine asked.
"Always busy, either at work or with my....Mother and even if I tried, I was just never lucky" Jonathan answered as he still cautiously looked around while gripping the gun on his hand.
"Don't take this the wrong way but, You're okay, like for crying out loud your 6'2, I mean surely somebody might've liked you back?" Catherine wondered as he look back and forth while traversing the woods.
"Nope, I guess it isn't enough or there is more to it than that, I don't know maybe it just isn't for me" Jonathan answered.
"I don't believe that, maybe sooner or later, you're gonna find someone for you" Catherine assured Jonathan while beaming a smile to him
"Hey, I just want to ask you something too" Jonathan said
"What is it?" Catherine asked
"Ever since we went outside, it just felt....empty, it's like we're the only people left on earth, did you notice it too?" Jonathan asked.
"Yeah I did, I thought I was the only one who did, I don't know maybe it's because a lot of people left elsewhere or they are just trying to stay quiet so those things would let them be, but it does feel creepy and unsettling at times" Catherine replied.
"It does, and sometimes I'm afraid that maybe....we are the only ones left." Jonathan replied.
After the talk that they had, they continued walking through the forest, Jonathan spotted another shed that they can stay in. They approached the shed quietly making sure there isn't anyone inside, let alone anyone or anything that will harm them. With the gun raised Jonathan quietly barged in to the shed and thankfully there is nothing and no one inside. He signaled Catherine to go inside and he shut the door as soon as she did. They laid down there for a while and thought about staying the night in there. They are near town and hopefully they'll get some help or any Military presence that can help them and hopefully Catherine's loved ones as well. As they rest down on the wooden floor of the shed, Jonathan saw a Radio. Thinking it might work, he grabbed it while calling Catherine towards him, he lowered the volume first before turning it on and hopefully they'll get news or anything that can help them. After a while of shifting and going through different frequencies they finally managed to find one relying Instructions and one that's from the Military.
It's relying instructions to go westward at tulipdune county, an evac center is setup for anyone and the Military will continue to evacuate people for 4 days but everyone is urged to come quick. The two of them were delighted to hear it. Tulipdune isn't far and they can pass through to fetch Catherine's family, although it's far from where Joseph is. Jonathan urged her to message her family and him as well, asking him if he heard the announcement and if he doesn't, to tell him about it and to meet them at her parent's house.
"Do you think he'll make it?" Catherine asked.
"Don't worry he will, dude's a tough guy he'd be there before you even know it" Jonathan assured Catherine.
"I know tulipdune isn't far but 4 days, I just don't think we're gonna make it." Catherine said in a soft and somber voice.
"We have to, don't worry as soon as the sun rises tomorrow we're gonna go, because if we miss it, then we're fucked" Jonathan replied.
"Joseph replied, he's not at the tire shop anymore. He's with a group they're currently somewhere near town at a Convenience store, waiting the nigh out" Catherine said.
"Well that's good to hear and if we're lucky maybe we'll join them before reaching the house" Jonathan replied
It's getting dark out and luckily Jonathan found some sheets and thumbtacks so they can cover the window and make sure that anyone or anything wouldn't see them inside. Catherine knew the rules already and he just told him to wake her up when he needs to sleep. As the tiredness creeps up on her, she thought about the Evac Center, she knows they aren't going to make it in just four days but she's willing to go along with Jonathan's Optimism. What she's really hoping to happen is that she'll see Joseph once again and hopefully they'll make it together to her parent's house.
