I'll go along

Morning came and as Jonathan promised, they went on their way. There it is again the silence of the forest and now they know better to be alert, since when the forest starts to become quiet, danger is just close by waiting for the perfect opportunity. As they travel through the forest they are starting to become anxious, anticipating that one or maybe more might show up. The only thing they can do right now is to keep moving and hopefully the sound of the forest becomes present once again.

Despite them being outside for days now, their supplies are still enough until they arrive at the house. They don't to say it to each other but they both wish that this travelling would soon come to an end since it's starting to become mundane. But they are near town now and it's only a matter of time before they're back at civilization once again. Catherine doesn't really want to see it not wanting to be reminded of what could've been but at the same she has high hopes that she will see Joseph once again.

"What do you think they'll evacuate us with? Jonathan asked

"I don't know, maybe trucks? Seems more feasible" Catherine Replied.

"I wish they'd use helicopters, you know, like the one in the Movies" Jonathan Replied.

"We'll let's see, Atleast we'll have a good view when we leave" Catherine said.

"Did Joseph gave an update on where he is?" Jonathan asked as he looked up the sky while clutching the gun in his hand

"His last message is that he's near town, I think we can meet up with him once we get there" Catherine replied.

"I really hope so, the more the merrier I just wish we had more firepower I have a feeling town's going to be infested with those things" Jonathan replied.

Catherine knows that Jonathan is right but he hopes that he isn't. They could not run into town but them making detour to go around it will take days and will more likely lessen their chances of being rescued and potentially be more exposed to those creatures around. As they traversed the muddy forest Joseph spotted something in the distance, he wasn't sure at first but it looked like a vehicle and not just any vehicle, but a Military vehicle. They approached it slowly, trying to see if there is anything near it but thankfully there is no one or nothing. The car is a Humvee and it looked liked it crashed while it was speeding. The road isn't too far and you can see the tracks it made before it hit the tree in front of it. The humvee is totaled with only its lights functioning leading them to believe this happened at night when the Military retreated. The front is busted, bent by the tree they crashed in.

Jonathan took a look inside the car and is delighted by what he saw, a M4 Carbine with a scope, a knife and a grenade that is left behind. Catherine never saw him so happy to see a gun but she is too. It's a lucky find and they are both delighted that they stumbled upon it. They tried the radio left behind by the soldiers but it isn't working. They searched the humvee looking for anything that they can use but there is nothing. Most are either too big to carry or is busted by the crash. Nevertheless they are happy with what they found. As they sat down at the humvee for a while, Jonathan noticed tracks on the mud that seems to lead on to the forest. He told Catherine to stay put as he followed the tracks with the assault rifle raised and pointed at whatever might come to him. The track went on for a while inside the forest, making the humvee look like a blurry object from a distance. The tracks came to a stop, and that's when the smell hit him. He put his arm around his mouth, trying his best not to puke from the smell he stumbled upon.

He thought about leaving but he noticed a boot on the ground. He grabbed it and saw blood covering the side of it. As he looked around further that is when he saw where that smell is coming from. He is about to investigate when Catherine appeared behind him almost startling him. He urged the both of them to come back but it was too late, Catherine already saw what was making the putrid and gut wretching smell. In the muddy ground of the forest, hiding in the shrubs and weeds is a body, sliced in half with its guts scattered across the muddy forest floor. Its faced mutilated beyond recognition with only the flies taking joy and infesting the poor man's mutilated face. The sight was too much for Catherine to handle and she vomited right their on the spot. Jonathan was about to do the same until he noticed something far worse than the body laying down on the ground. Up in the trees are different bodies torn apart, scattered and dangling across the branches with blood painting those branches red. The sight was a horror to behold and see but nothing was as gut wrenching then seeing a severed head impaled on one of the branches with look of horror still present in its face.

Jonathan knew its time to leave, he grabbed Catherine by her arm tugging her with him to leave the area and hopefully forget that what they just saw. They went to the Humvee again. grabbing what they could and the stuff they left behind before going on their way once again.

They are both disturbed by what they saw, especially Catherine who is still shaking from what she saw. After the incident earlier, Jonathan knows that it's better if they rested first, but there isn't anything around for that and he is worried that they might have to camp out in the woods for the night. But with a string of luck they spotted an RV down the road and they are hopeful that there is no one inside. They looked around first before getting near the RV but there is no one around. They checked the door and thankfully it's open. They quickly made their way inside while locking the door behind them. They wouldn't say it to each other but today was both a shock and was too much for them. They never thought that they would see something as grisly and awful as that, but then again you could say the world is different now. It's night almost and they are very lucky that they stumbled upon an abandoned RV and what's best about is that it actually has a Bed that they can lie down on and rest comfortably. Despite the carnage they saw earlier they are both still famished and despite the scene and horrors they saw still fresh in their mind, they ate through their food while putting those images at the back of their mind. After a satisfying meal, they know that its time for them to rest and as usual Jonathan will take the first watch. In the past days Catherine has always something on her mind before she sleeps, but today might just be the worse of them all. The images flashes through her mind constantly like an endless stream making sure that what she saw doesn't leave her mind. But both the shock and tiredness of walking constantly through the forest was heavier and despite her minds best effort to keep her awake, her body won and shortly after she is drifting away, shutting her eyes and getting the rest she needs.
