Joker and Scribe

Alex was hesitant. Actually, he was inclined to choose Gambler of Fate. He had a hunch that the real power of this job wasn't it's skills or exclusive weapons but its trait. Just like monster tamer, the ability to communicate with monsters gave its user many benefits other than an opportunity to make a monster a pet.

Looking at the hesitant Alex, Vira said, "Need help?"

Hearing Vira's question, Alex woke up, "No, I just hesitate to choose between three options. It's fine. I have come to a decision."

Alex chased away his wavering. Although Gambler of Fate looked cool and a rare job, its name was unacceptable for him. He then removed it from his consideration.

Between trickster and joker, Alex thought the two were pretty even. The two used speed as their characteristic. The difference was just their means to attack. Joker used magic and trickster used a crossbow.

Alex didn't know about the game's version of crossbow, if it had a slow loading speed like in history or not. As for magic, as long as he had mana, he was a human's version of auto machine gun. He then with a little regret couldn't pick gambler of fate, chose joker. After confirming once more, he got a notification.

[You have been transferred to become a Joker.]

Like Geo, his body shone and he got clothes that were similar to what Geo was wearing, except his hat, which was just like a clown's hat.

Looking at Alex, Geo and Vira couldn't help but laugh. Even Jumpy the spider acted strangely, as if it was amused.

"What?" Alex asked. He, who hadn't figured out what was going on yet, felt like something was wrong. Then he remembered the model that represented joker. It wore a colorful hat like a clown.

He then accessed the setting and like he thought he could change the headwear to be invisible. It said the headwear would lose its protection function, but as long as he got the bonus stat, he didn't mind. Without hesitation, he made it invisible, then his hat disappeared.

"It's not fun," He then heard a soft voice say.

Alex then looked at Vira, "Yeah, it was fun, right?"

"Huh?" Vira was surprised, "what do you mean?"

Alex frowned, "Didn't you just say, it's not fun? Honestly! You said it aloud."

"Mommy didn't say that," Geo said to Alex.

As he wanted to say that he heard it himself, a realization came to him, 'It couldn't be!'

As he wanted to access his attribute, the system asked him to make the name for his game character.

He picked 'Ace' as his name without much thought.

He then looked at his attribute.

[Ace]

"What?!" Ace exclaimed.

"What's wrong Alex?" Looking at Ace's weird behavior, Vira became alarmed.

Ace looked at Vira, he indeed could see her in more detail, her pores, her contracting iris, even the transparent hair inside her nose. He did that when he was about 5 meters from her.

He could also hear everyone's breath, heartbeats, etc.

He could also smell something fishy from Jumpy's body.

"It seems I have become a superhero. Call me Ace in the game by the way." Ace said.

"Can you repeat that?" Vira thought she heard it wrong.

"You must try it yourself. You will understand," Ace smiled.

"So, Dad. Can I become a superhero too?" Geo asked.

"Actually you are, Geo. You can communicate with monsters right. that's a superpower."

"You heard Dad too, right, Jumpy? It's a superpower." Geo then seemed to continue communicating with him wordlessly.

Ace then looked at his skills.

Skills:

Shuffle and draw: shuffle and draw your cards to and from your deck. Can do 1 time per second for each hand draw.

Cards throw mastery (level 1): Throw cards from each hand with 10 meters effective range. Mana consumption: depends on which card is thrown.

He then tried to draw the card with his right hand, and he got the 3 of hearts. He did the same with his left hand and got the 7 of clubs.

He then discovered that he would need 3 mana for throwing 3 of heart card and 7 mana for 7 of club.

He also understood that each card dealt different damage depending on its number on it. For example, 3 of heart would deal 60% damage according to his magic value. With 40 of magic, he would deal 24 damage.

'But, it must not be as simple as that. As there is magic defense. As I thought, I need to test it,' Ace said.

"So what job is Joker? Is it a clown?" Vira said.

Ace then explained Joker's characteristics.

"We don't have a tank here. So, do I have to choose a close combat job?" Vira complained.

Ace was afraid she would be upset when his job's weapon was related to gambling. He then said, "Actually, I have a job option that was a kind of a swordsman, but I thought you will hate it. So I pick this one."

"Then you shouldn't talk about it, as it couldn't be picked anymore, This is my turn. Actually, I found a pretty rare job on the list. But it is not meant for combat. It was a crafting job," Vira said.

"Is it scribe? I can't look at its description. But if you want it, pick it. By the way, how rare is it?" Ace asked after found out that there was no other crafting named job.

"It's an SS rarity. The problem is, it is pretty expensive, although it has been discounted by 99%, 100,000 credits is too much right?" Vira said while staring at Ace with gleaming eyes.

"W-Wait! SS job. So it only has a quota? And the discount? What have you done before?" Ace looked at her with doubt.

"S-So... C-Can I?" Vira asked with a desire contained in the tone.

"Sure, but at least tell me first the reason? I don't believe it is just a lucky thing," Ace asked.

"Honestly, I have already told you, I used to be a star student at the university. And I had helped the Union to reveal some historical facts back then," Vira said with a proud expression.

"I thought you were bluffing. But why did you marry me back then? You should have many choices from silver citizens," Ace felt as if schemed.

"Don't look at me like that! You were the most good looking back then, and I was too lazy to work. If I can live without working, why must I work?" Vira said without guilt.

'It was the same then,' Ace said in his heart.

"Alright, we are pretty rich. Pick it!" Ace said.

'Only one percent, and it's still 100,000 credits. That means it would be 10,000,000 credits for the full price. The Union is just too much.' Ace said in his heart.

After 100.000 credits left his bank account, Vira transferred.

Her clothes were pretty different. She wore a light blue blouse and loose pants. As for her headwear, she wore a purple hairpin. Ace had to admit it looked amazing with her blonde hair. She also used thin gloves and feminine version of boots.

"So, what is your trait?" Ace asked.

"It says, Tower of knowledge's gatekeeper. I have access to the information in the tower, and my game name is Sofia," Sofia said.

"A-As expected from a unique job," Ace sighed.

"Oh, actually I got an offensive spell, it shoots raw mana ball, and it was a pretty strong spell. The rest is writing mastery and good news for you, I have identification skill. It could identify all things' names and related information about them," Sofia said.

"That is good, so we have a walking dictionary here. To test your skill, what are jumpy's stats?" Ace asked.

Sofia then looked at Jumpy. Her eyes shone with blue light while examining the spider.

"Wow, our son got a jackpot!" She shouted.
