"Nothing." Nate muttered under his breath. He closed his laptop and rested his head on the bed, deep in thought.

When he had first saw the tattoo on the dead woman's body. He had dismissed it as any other tattoo but Wynter's violent behavior to stop him from asking questions sparked his interest but it led him nowhere. Willers can't get tattoos like every other human. There were special tattoo artists who know the procedure but there were scarce to find. He started to re-strategize. He either had to get better resources to increase his search area or go all the way to Los Angeles, find Wynter and try to get the truth from her. The latter had to be a last resort of course. He wouldn't want to start a territorial war.

His door jerked suddenly. Somebody was trying to get inside without knocking. He sighed. "Minx, what do you want?"

"Victor wants you in the common room." She replied from behind the door and walked away.

He sighed again. His work with Victor was taking out of his time. The thought that he had a life or a family he couldn't get back to sickened him but the alternative was much worse.

He walked out of his room to meet Victor. He turned a corner and found Victor walking away from the common room. For a second, he wanted to call him but he hesitated. Instead, he slowly followed him. It was a whole new wing of the underground base. Sometimes it amazed Nate how large this place really was. He made sure he stayed far enough that victor would not sense him.

He saw Victor open a metal door and step into a room before closing the door. He stepped closer to the door and tried to scan the interior with his will. It was to no avail, the door and the walls had to be at least three feet of steel and concrete.

He was tempted to maximize his efforts but he could not risk alerting Victor. He focused his will his hearing instead and tried to listen into the room. The door was still too thick. All he heard was hushed voices arguing.

Nate frowned in confusion. There is another person living here? Why the secrecy and confinement? Seeing as how he would not get any questions to his answer, he left before Victor came out.

He retraced his steps back to the common room and waited for a few minutes before Victor joined him.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Victor said in a voice that suggested he wasn't sorry at all.

"What do you want me to do for you?" Nate asked bluntly.

"I need you to handle a gun deal for me."

"Excuse me?"

Victor frowned. "A gun deal, I don't like to repeat myself."

Nate had accompanied Victor on many of his illegal deals but has never been on the forefront. "Why me? Wouldn't it be easy to send Ronda? Or someone to back me up? Why do I have to this alone?"

"I am in no mood to answer your questions. You have been staying under my roof for a while now. You should know how things are done." Nate was silent for a few seconds before he nodded. "Right, the name of the man you are meeting is Billy Cross. He is the leader of a small gang but don't worry, they are all human. So this should be easy."

Victor kept talking about other details of the deal but Nate was only half listening. He was wondering how his new life had taken a downward turn into crime.
