Chapter 6: Kaico's Dream

The next morning Kaico startled awake. For a moment she didn't know where she was. Then she remembered everything that had happened. She had fallen asleep on the floor and felt stiff. Somewhat painfully she pulled herself to her feet. Carefully she dusted herself off and began to dig her way out.

It was sunny out already. Some of her crops had begun to grow. Soon they would be ready to be harvested and eaten. That was when she heard a small sound. Enderly appeared, and they had something with them. They held out a beautiful blue flower to Kaico. She blushed slightly and said, "thank you."

Enderly seemed to radiate happiness. They disappeared and came back with another one. Kaico took it again laughing slightly and shaking her head. She stuffed both of them into her inventory. She began to punch out the blocks to a tree. She wasn't used to it, but she managed to gather a couple and craft herself a table. She would make a new axe and probably a sword too, just in case. She had to throw herself into the work with the wooden axe. Enderly watched in amusement.

"You could help out," she snapped suddenly. "You seem to have a secret stash of melons or something." Then she put a hand to her mouth, feeling slightly bad for getting angry. "I just haven't ever done all this. Trying to stay alive, its harder than it ever seemed. I don't know how people like Steve and Alex do it! We always heard about their adventures, them and their children that is. When I was younger I used to dream I'd be something like them."

Kaico had spent many hours thinking about the world outside of their little home. Her brothers made an idol out of Steve, but Kaico always thought of Steve and Alex's daughter Katrina, who was a famous builder. She was in fact the one who wrote Kaico's favourite book. She glanced at the ender and said, "I'm glad I met you Enderly."

Then she got back to work. Enderly soon returned with yet another melon. Kaico smiled as she took it. Then when she was done she seated herself.

"Enderly," she addressed the creature. The Ender settled nearby her. She sighed and began, "I have to move again, I can not stay here much longer."

The Ender seemed quite sad at her words.

"I know, I know," she sighed, "I like it here too, but my brothers will be searching for me. Do you have brothers?" She asked Enderly. Enderly didn't seem to answer.

She carried on, "I have several, Asher, Kaden, Tanner and Lucas," She listed them off. "They range from nice to annoying." She shook her head slightly, "I ran away from my home because I wasn't anything like my family, to be completely honest I think my parents wanted to get rid of me anyway." She then amended, "at least I'm almost certain my father did, but not like this. I was going to take a boat and sail away from here, then find a village. No one would know who I was. I want to be a builder, and then maybe one day, if I succeed, I will return home briefly. Let me show you something" She took out her book and flipped through the pages. When she found a particular one she liked, she held it up for Enderly to see. It was a beautiful house in a forest, the whole thing was done in pale colours, light, delicate greys and lovely snowy whites.

Enderly leaned closer to see what she was showing them.

"Imagine if we lived here, so much space." She said, the threw her arms out for effect. "The whole place looks so soft and bright." Then she stopped, "I guess bright isn't really your thing though." She pursed her lips and flipped through till she found another one. Then she held that up. It was a castle, with sweeping towers and huge arching windows.

Enderly looked at it and chirped with enthusiasm.

Kaico closed the book and put it back in her inventory. "Those are the kind of things I want to build some day!" Then she frowned, "but first I have to have enough food and resources. You've really helped me Enderly, I know you can't cross the ocean though. I guess it's up to you too, you might not want to travel with me."

Enderly though did want to. Kaico told them that the two of them would go by foot for awhile first, then they would have to figure out how to leave the chunk of land. While they were planning though someone was making there way through the trees.

That someone had just found what they were looking for.
