The Crystal's History

As the teacher entered the room Sonrei could tell he was strong. He exuded a kind yet confident aura. "Settle down class, and please sit down if you will. I know it's only the first day but this lecture will be a long one," The teacher said. "My name is Mr. Sorian and I will be your teacher this year. Now before we begin any questions?" The class shook their heads no. "Well then, I guess we can begin taking attendance." Mr Sorian went down the list until he reached Sonrei, Michael and Clark. "Well, well, it looks like we do have some special students in here after all." He looked up at the trio sitting in the back. "I'm guessing you three trouble makers are Sonrei, Michael and Clark yes?" They nodded their heads. "I thought so. Well I guess that will lead us into our first point about today's lecture, which will be about the Council of Eight, elemental tiers, beast tiers and finally portal tiers. First, the Council of Eight also referred to as the seven families are the world leaders, and are the only thing that are keeping world order. The Council as you all know is filled with the seven family heads and the supreme commander of the military. Each of these people have the strongest elemental powers we've come in contact with. Now each family also has control over the seven elements with the exception of the earth crystals which the military distributes it to all of it soldiers that don't have an ability. Five out of the seven families, have also started to allow people outside of their family to use their element, however all of these are quite expensive. However, two families, the Atrix and Iro families, who have control over the light and dark element decided not to sell their crystals. Meaning that being able to find someone with a light or dark elemental ability is quite rare. The Gersca, Noyer, Thorton, Zima and Kumar families controlling the ice, fire, water, wind and lighting elements respectively, have all tried to convince the pair to sell their elements. All of these attempts have failed. This brings us into elemental tiers. Elemental tiers have been labeled from tier 1 to tier 10..." As the teacher droned on explaining the difference between the tiers it was all Sonrei could do to stay awake much less pay attention. She had received this lecture many times from her parents, and she was getting tired of it. "...Now you may ask how the council is able to keep their power if there are other tier 10s? Well the reason is it that the council members do not have tier ten elements, you see the strength of the 8 crystals that were given to the council has at this point in time never been found again. Seeing this many people have begun to classify their strength as tier 11. This leads us into beast tiers. Beat tiers follow the same structure as humans and not every beast has the same strength meaning you will come across the same beast twice, but the elemental power will be different, which is why you need scanners to measure the strength of the beast you're fighting. They will give you the tier and element of the beast your fighting. However if you find yourself in a situation where this animal hasn't been discovered before, the system will try to guess its tier and element, but this guess isn't always correct. So proceed with caution. Now we move onto portal tiers. Portals as you know are the primary way we travel between planets after a starship has set up a portal there. A green portal means its to another place on earth, a white portal means its to a completely safe area, a orange portal means that their are colonies set up but there are still high level beasts, a red portal means that there are only high level beasts and very few if any shelters. These are the standard four however this is another. A Purple portal is when is was newly set up and nothing has been explored, meaning that it could end up being a white portal but it could also end up being more dangerous than a red portal. These portals are only entered by elite military squads or high ranking family members. Now as you may have heard, we are going to go on a tour in a white portal planet, but don't worry, we'll be sticking together in a group and there will be several teachers like myself that can protect you." The teacher started to explain what they were going to do there, but Sonrei stopped listening. She didn't really learn much from that entire lecture. Her parents had already told her this several times before. Sonrei sighed as she glanced out the window.

About thirty minutes later, Mr Sorian finished explaining how the trip was going to work and what they were going to do there, it was time for recess. Sonrei stretched as she stood up ready to get out of the classroom for a while. She walked over to the back door and pushed it open. As sonrei walked outside, she took a deep breath in of fresh air. She was joined later by Clark and Michael. Clark and Michael being themselves quickly started to spar with them promising Sonrei that they wouldn't screw anything up. While watching them spar Sonrei had to admit they were skilled fighters. If she matched them in level even with both elements active it would be a close fight just because of their skill with melee weapons. Out of the corner of her eye however, she saw a kid being pressed up against the wall by another kid. She clicked her tongue as she stood up and walked over. "Get off of him," Sonrei stated clearly. She shoved the kid away from the other before turning toward the blond hair kid whose nose was bleeding. "Are you alright? I can take you to the nurs-" She was cut off as a strong punch hit her right in the cheek. Sonrei felt her jaw crack from the force of the punch. She stumbled back, her vision blurry as another punch struck her in the chest and then again in the face, but this time it was square in the nose. Her ribs cracked, as she fell to the ground feeling the blood drip from her nose onto her face and clothes. The kid grabbed her collar and lifted Sonrei off the ground. The kid clearly had an earth ability. He gripped her collar tight, "Who the f*ck said you could interfere?" Sonrei didn't respond as her brain tried to compute what the hell just happened. The only thing that came to mind was rage. Sonrei gripped the kids wrist, and began to feel the ice energy flow through her body once more. "Don't you fucking touch me again." She said. In response the kid tried to punch her again but was stopped, as Sonrei caught the fist mid punch. The kid's fist was encased in ice as he began to scream out in pain, dropping Sonrei in the process. She crafted an ice spear and held it in her hands. "You're going to f*cking die for that." The kid said, as an earth battle axe appeared in his hand. The kid jumped up gripped the axe with both hands and slammed it down, but Sonrei quickly avoided it. The axe slammed into the ground cracking it in the process as Sonrei appeared behind the kid and stabbed him in the back with the spear. The kid gasped out in pain, as the axe fell into dust. He passed out from the pain as Sonrei ripped out her spear. Teachers who had seen the fight start and end in a few seconds rushed over. Fortunately, the nurse was already outside, came rushing over. Now the nurse thankfully, had a semi-rare fire ability called Phoenix Fire, which is only attainable from absorbing the fire energy from a phoenix. This allowed the user to tap into the healing ability that the Phoenixes have, in the form of blue fire. Knowing she was in some deep shit, she walked over to the kid who was originally being bullied, and she noticed now how young this kid actually was. He appeared to be several years younger than she was. "Are you alright?" Sonrei asked. The kid nodded. "My name's Sonrei, what's yours?" "Lucious." The kid replied. Before Sonrei was able to ask another question Mr Sorian appeared behind her. "Gersca," Sonrei turned her head, as Sorain mentioned her name. "You need to come with me."
