The Hearing

"Gersca," Sonrei turned around as Mr Sorian appeared behind her. "You're coming with me." Sonrei's eyes widened and a pit formed in her stomach as she stood up to follow Sorian. She could tell by his stern tone that this wasn't a good thing. 'Come to think of it... that kid did have a particularly strong ability, at least for here, but school yard fights happen all the time and she knew that people have suffered worse injuries in them than this. Even if the kid came from a well off family with a lot of influence they wouldn't prosecute her for a simple school fight, and not to mention her family name should've prevented that thought from even occurring.' Sonrei continued to think to herself as they entered the school building and turned down the hallway heading towards the school board offices. 'Wait wait wait, we're going to the school board and not the principle? What the hell? Maybe this isn't about the earth user after all?' "Wait here," Mr Sorian said point at a row of chairs up against the wall. Sonrei sat down as Sorian entered the board room. After about five minutes of just sitting there Mr Sorian opens the door and Sonrei hears a few muffled shouts coming from the meeting room. "Mrs Gersca, please enter the room," Sorian states, holding the door open for her. Sonrei stood up and walked into the board room. Her eyes immediately widened in shock seeing the man that was the source of the shouting. 'No way...' The man that stood before her was General Leo, one of the most renown military general's due to his part in taking over several purple planets, by himself. He was incredibly strong and feared by the majority of people. "I entrusted my son into this school's care and you let this happen to him?!" the General shouted at the school board. "Your telling me that you allowed that b*tch," he said pointing at Sonrei "Attack him? You old sh*ts are lucky I don't personally destroy this school myself. And you!" Leo whipped around and grabbed Sonrei by the collar. "Did you think that you could hide behind your family name and get away with something like this? I'll f*cking kill you myself, you worthless piece of trash," The general said before pushing her to the ground and spitting on her face. Sonrei sat there is disbelief for a second, thinking 'That did not just happen...'. But a cold harsh reality washed over her as the slimy spit rolled down her face. 'You... bastard...' Sonrei, in a fit of rage clearly not thinking straight, formed an Ice sword in her hand, as she jumped up and swung down at the General's face. Leo, who saw it out of the corner of his eye, avoided it, however he still received a small cut on the side of his cheek. The general's eyes were slits as his veins started to bulge. An earth gauntlet formed around his fist and as he swung down aiming for Sonrei. In the mere split Second sonrei had, she quickly formed a thick ice wall in front of her, and her sword shifted into a shield that took to hands to wield, and poured her full power into them. However, it wasn't enough. The wall shattered, the shield cracked and fell apart as Sonrei was sent flying back due to the force of the punch.

"Enough!" Sonrei heard a voice, coming from the doorway. She couldn't believe what she saw. It was her father.

"Sonrei, wait outside." Her father said still staring daggers at the General. Sonrei quickly picked herself up, walked out of the board room, brushing past her father, and swiftly sat down. 'He... was strong... I wouldn't have won that fight even if I used full power with both of my elements, hell I might not have even gotten a hit off. I really am weak in the grand scheme of things...'

It took about 20 minutes for her father to finally leave the board room, in which over the course of said 20 minutes she heard lots of inaudible shouting, but it was clear that they were arguing over something. Her father who was clearly annoyed with the situation, walked out of the room and told Sonrei to follow him. They walked silently back to her father's car and drove back to their house in silence. It wasn't until Sonrei was about to get out of the car to walk inside, when her father spoke. "

Sonrei," He stated clearly and calmly. "You need to grow stronger. You showed weakness, you were forced to injure a student that you clearly could've subdued. Not only that, you fought and lost to a military general, and a pathetic one at that. You have brought shame to our family names, and I will not allow this to happen again. You will spend this entire suspension training to grow stronger. Understood?" Sonrei nodded. She got out of the car and walked inside. 'How could I have been so weak?'

Sonrei had been given a one month suspension, and over that time, she was trained by her parents, everyday for grueling amounts of time. However, it worked. She gained a new understanding and control over her elements. But over the month suspension, did she end up regretting what she did? No, no she didn't, instead she planned to humiliate the general the next time she saw him, and then make him regret everything that he tried against her. Sonrei was not one to forgive and forget. She was also, done hiding. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks shifted into the month. Two days before she was supposed to go back, because her father thought she had done so well with her training, he gave her a tier six Ice crystal. Sonrei thanked her father profusely, stating that she would not fail him again. She spent the last two days of her suspension absorbing the crystals power. Ironically, her suspension ended the day before the class's field trip to an off world. Of course she knew that this was no more than a history trip. But as she stepped onto the front steps, she couldn't help but feel excited for the trip to come.
