Y/Ns POV

I kissed Callie on the cheek, before picking her up, and settling her on my knee. She was starting to drag herself around on the floor, which was cute but also worrying, so I baby proofed the whole apartment.

I bounced her on my knee and she giggled happily, enjoying herself.

I heard the key in the lock, and grinned at Callie, "is your dada home?" I said in my baby voice before lifting her into my arms and going to Jake.

He entered, closing the door behind him. His eyes lit up when he saw us.

Callie waved her arms towards him and Jake laughed softly before lifting her out of my arms and into his, pulling faces and jigging her around.

It was amazing seeing Jake and Callie play together and it made me so incredibly happy he was her dad.

Callie started kicking her legs towards the floor and Jake gently set her down where she started fumbling around curiously.

"Hey babe" Jake smiled at me before coming and kissing me.

We broke away, "Hey Jakey"

We stood together watching our daughter explore, both over the moon.

When Callie was bored Jake carried her back to her room and set her down in her cot for a nap.

We started cooking a quick meal of quesadillas, before nestling down together on the couch.

"Die Hard?" Jake asked hopefully and I nodded with a smile.

It was nice that we could still have moments, when Callie was asleep, but if anything, tending to her brought us closer together.

We headed of to bed after checking up on her again, when we heard screaming. Callie was struggling with being left alone, but we knew we had to leave her otherwise she would think she could always get her way by screaming.

Me and Jake lay uncomfortably, we hated when our baby sounded unhappy, but it was for the best.

Eventually she quietened down and we went to sleep, still having to change her and feed her throughout the night.

I woke up the next morning, hearing a tiny laugh beside me and saw Callie was sat with Jake as he whispered to her playfully.

I quickly pretended I was still asleep, as I was curious to know what Jake was saying to her.

I caught some snippets

"You are so pretty, just like your mama. We love you so much baby, and I promise nothing bad is ever going to happen to you on my watch. Even though Callie couldn't understand, I could tell Jake meant what he was saying and it warmed my heart.

I was the luckiest girl in the world.
