Three weeks later...
Catherine was surprised to receive a call from her best friend out of the blue. After the last fiasco at her house where she threw her out, Catherine decided to give her space as advised by her partner. So she hasn't spoken to her friend since then even though she has been out of her mind with worry, she was determined to let her friend come to her when she was ready.
Their call had been short and straight forward.
Jericho had called that there was something she wanted to discuss with her and that they should meet at their favorite restaurant, but she had cut the call before Catherine could ask what it was she wanted to discuss.
"Do you think she is in trouble? " Catherine questioned her girlfriend in a worried tone.
"You have to go to find out baby, "she answered kissing me lightly on the lips before pushing me out the door.
Catherine arrived at the meeting place to spot her best friend sitting on one of the tables set outside the establishment with her eyes hidden behind a dark shade and her hair back to its length.
She headed in her direction.
"Hello Ric, "she greeted her friend with a happy smile taking the seat opposite her.
Honestly, she was elated that her friend called her, and looking at her she can see she is a little different from the last time they saw her. Her weight has filled out a little that she was no longer looking like she will blow over at the slightest wind.
Jericho responded to her friend's greeting with a slight smile taking her glasses up her forehead.
Jericho looked in the direction of the waiter signaling to him that they were ready to order.
"I am sorry, " she stated in a serious regretful tone as soon as her friend settled down in her seat.
"You don't have anything to be sorry about, " Cat whispered to her friend knowing why she was apologizing.
Cat understood that her friend was grieving and grieving can sometimes make you act irrational.
"I do, " Jericho argued
" You were right, Christy wouldn't have wanted me killing myself with alcohol which was exactly what I was doing and I couldn't stand you being right so I acted like an asshole to you for that I am sorry."
Their talk was interrupted by the waitress returning with their order.
He placed the drinks in front of the ladies with a polite smile at them turned on his heels, and the two friends continued their discussion from where they left off.
"Apology accepted, "Cat said with a wide grin, accepting her friend's apology.
She stared fondly at her friend before her gaze turned serious.
"What is it you wanted to discuss?" taking a sip of her drink.
Happy that she is that her friend finally called her not knowing the reason why, if she is in trouble or something else was killing Cat, and she couldn't wait any more seconds to find out.
"I want to adopt a son, "Jericho blurted out, with a serious look.
At her friend's words, the drink she just took came rushing back through her mouth.
Jericho's face squeeze in disgust as she got a mild splash from the content of her friend's mouth going in different directions.
"What! "Cat croaked, choking mildly on her drink.
"I said I want to...."
"I heard you the first time, Cat jumped in a normal voice, but why? Cat asked confused at her friend's sudden desire for a child.
If there was one thing Catherine knew about her friend is that she has never had the maternal instinct.
" You don't like kids Ric, "Cat reminded her friend her stare still a bit confused.
"Not that I don't like the rugrats but have never thought of having them until Christy, actually it was her desire."
"We were in the process before the news of her cancer came, " Jericho stated in a sad tone.
"If you are going to have one now I don't think is appropriate for you to refer to it as rugrat, " Cat teased smiling as her friend chuckled slightly.
Turning serious she held her friend's gaze, "Ric are you sure you are ready for a baby? You are still grieving, " Catherine tried to reason with her friend but when she saw the stubborn look in her eyes she knew her friend's mind was already made up and nothing was going to dissuade her.
"If this is what you really want, know that I and Dani will support you, " she promised her friend.
Jericho smiled gratefully at her friend for her support then she relaxed back and caught up with her best friend....
🐰🐰🐰
Its been three weeks since Rachel was discharged home from the hospital with no traces of the ordeal she has been through.
After weeks of physical therapy and being cooped in the house and watched like a hawk by her parents who fears that she will disappear if allowed to go out, Rachel was ready to take to the street singing cobaya.
She wasn't the indoor type of person and her accident didn't change that so being cooped in the house was driving her mad not to talk of the strange dreams that have been plaguing her mind ever since she woke up.
She needed to leave the confines of her house. It has become a matter of state emergency.
Rachel could understand her parent's fears, is not every day you are told your daughter died and miraculously woke up after a ghastly motor accident. But this night Rachel wasn't staying home anymore, she was leaving this house whether her parents give her permission or not after all she was a grown-ass woman.
Just then her phone rang...
Rachel smiled as she saw the name on the screen it was her boyfriend Donald.
"Hi, " she said softly into the phone, her whole teeth in full display.
I met Donald two years ago in Our freshman year along with two other girls and we all became friends, then our relationship changed a year later when Donald asked me out on Valentine's day and that is how we started dating. Cliche right.
"Hey, you want to meet, I and the girls are meeting at that new bar that opened a few weeks ago, think you can join us?" Donald's low deep voice came through the phone.
Oh, can you imagine my response to this question, me that have been wanting to escape this prison. I grabbed the opportunity with my two hands and two feet. Nah I am just exaggerating, I just said yes in a cool collected tone despite jumping up excitedly inside, I am a cool person and wouldn't want the boy thinking I have missed him so much, even though I have but we have to keep them on their toes right "winks".
"Cool pick you up in seconds..." the phone cuts
Yeah right like it will only take a second for me to tush up myself.
My first outing after spending months on my back, nah I need to be phenomenal, another wink. Hey just kidding I am not that kind of girl, I am the T-shirt jeans, and sneakers kind of girl, sometimes I switch things up with low boots or high ankle boots, and that is what I donned for this evening.
A white t-shirt, blue skinny jeans, with a black jacket over the t-shirt, a black beanie over my hair, and then my black combat boots. And guess what it took just a few seconds to magically appear in this get-up, aren't I wonderful.
"Hey mums, pops I am going out, " I said to my parents who were relaxing with each other on the couch, with the television on but is debatable who is watching who.
Not giving them chance to react I ran towards the door to make my escape before it dawns on them what was happening, but things didn't go my way as my parents who have become very vigilant on things concerning me were quick to hear what I said and were off the couch and after me like a mob...
"Hilary Rachel Wilson where the hell do you think you are going?" the dad yelled on top of his voice as soon as my hand touched the door, freezing me on my tracks.
I turned with you just got caught my smile on my face and saw my parents standing behind me with two matching glares directed at me with the same pose.
Damn, that is freaky I thought staring at them....
Mm mmh, dad coughed hiking his brown up as he waited for my response.
If I see the same look on mum I am going to freak, I know they love each other so well but that doesn't mean they should have to act like twins, luckily mum remained in the same position.
"Dad, I am going crazy being in this house along with the walls for company, " I whined. "I need to go out, to meet my friends is been so long, " I pleaded flashing them my famous puppy dog look which has always gotten me my way in the past.
Yes is working I whooped in my mind as I first saw Mum's look soften then dad followed.
"Be back by midnight, " he said trying to sound stern but the tender look in his eyes belied that.
"You got it dad I will be Cinderella tonight, " I said with a hand salute to them making them smile. Just then a loud horn sounded in front of our house.
My ride is here...
"Gotta run folks, " I muttered to my parents dashing out the door.
