Leon’s entertainment

I hope you like my title for this extract. I have laughed at it for the past five minutes because it really was a very entertaining experience for me. I shall now explain to you what happened.

The next day, sure enough, the Freedom Fighters came. David Jones flew around the tower and our men deliberately failed to shoot him out the sky because he was needed inside. To have a taste of Hydro's mind tricks.

Being the hero that he is, Jack Thomas raced inside, searching for his loved one but instead came face to face with one of our most powerful workers. I shall keep his identity secret even though he is now sadly dead. I watched in the shadows, with you by my side. White knuckles from clenching your fist too hard, and gritted teeth from an effort to remain silent, your hunched form exuded an animosity that was like acid - burning, slicing, potent. Your face was red with suppressed rage, and when I even set a finger on your shoulder, you swung around and mentally snapped.

Then the moment came. You emerged from the shadows like a predator moving silently towards its prey and the look on Jack's face made me laugh out loud. There was a delicious moment where Jack's face was washed blank with confusion like his brain cogs couldn't turn fast enough to take in the information from his wide eyes. Every muscle of his body just froze. And you responded to this with pushing him down the stairs!

I left before I was noticed, this journal in my right hand and I raced downstairs which is where David Jones currently was. In the shadowy gloom of the old basement, there is a silhouetted figure, thin and unmoving. I crouch against the tin walls taking in shallow breaths, careful not to make a sound. I watch David with delight as he is unknowingly approached by Hydro's prized possession (that is my new name for you, young lady). At first, David thinks that you are normal and tells you how much the Freedom Fighters have missed you. But I think he got the hint when you dragged him across the room and strapped him into a machine that showed him his future.

The next five minutes were very interesting to me. David was so focused on his future, his curiosity building like a cat fixated upon its prey. David's eyes were trained on some invisible spectre, his heavy eyelids a fraction too slow to blink, his irises too stationary. It was as if his brain was suffering a massive short circuit and was struggling to compute. It was brilliant to watch.

Soon he was out of his trance and after he had attempted to remove Hydro's prized possession from her brainwashed state, I came along and escorted you away, leaving David standing there dumbfounded.

And then I locked you up again in your cell and a stony glare carved into your dark eyes. Fury blurred your sight but you tightened your jaw and glared at me.

"I need to kill Jack Thomas," is what you told me.

I responded to this I smiled and locked the door behind me.

In the night I heard you making the strangest noises in the night, the sound of banging was a regular occurrence as we patrolled the corridor.

And when I came and saw you in the morning there is blood on your knuckles and a bruise above your right eye, yet I can't recall any fight that you engaged in? Only you could have inflicted such things on yourself.

You are much stronger than we thought.
