Sticky situation
Alex's Pov
'Guys today is class project day!!' I said excitedly. I was looking forward to this time, last time stunk I got paired up with Veronica and made it hard for me not to beat her up. I thought back to the time.
'What's class project day?' Mason asked even though it was pretty self-explanatory.
'Class project day,' Kylie started to explain 'is when Mrs Lucas pairs us up and tells us to do something.
I giggled at that explanation. But it was true. Last time we had to make a presentation on what we like. I had never seen so much pink in my life.
As we walked into the schools cream walls we got an unwanted pink surprise. Ugh Veronica, just what I need to start of my day.
'Ew, Alex, today's class project day hope I don't get partnered up with you again.' Veronica said bitterly while flipping her hair.
'Trust me, Veronica, it's the same over here.' I said with a fake smile on my face.
We walked into class. I took my usual seat next to Levi and smiled at him as he sat down.
'Okay, class,' Mrs Lucas started I want to ask you a question. What do you associate with 'pink', '
(Oh great, the worst colour in the world, but I know my answer)
My hand shot up.
'Yes, Alex.' Mrs Lucas dictated
'I associate with pink with bratty pink nuisances that spend their time at the Mall 24/7, cough cough Veronica.' I said with a wicked grin on my face. I saw Veronica give me a dirty look at the back of the classroom.
Mrs Lucas giggled. 'Well that's your opinion Alex and that's your project today. What do associate, not with pink, but with yourself, now I will be pairing you up.
Yes! That was the best project ever. I just hope I get a good partner.
'Right the pairs for today are
Alex and Levi
Kylie and Tomas
Mason and Veronica.'
Woah poor Mason.
I saw the look on Mason's face as I turned around. Good luck to him
As soon as Mrs Lucas finished reading the pairs she gave us a warning
'Now guys I will give every one of you a tube of super glue if it gets on your hands do not touch anything.
When she finished that announcement we got cracking.
I saw Mason's face as he was working with Veronica. I could just imagine her saying pink pink pink to him.
I turned away to talk to Levi. We knew exactly what we were doing. We combined my love of skateboarding and his love of football to create a masterpiece. A football pitch with skateboard ramps as the goals with a football in the middle of them and a girl that had just finished skating over the ramps in mid-air.
We agreed that Levi would do the drawing and I would paint because I am a terrible artist.
30 minutes later we had almost finished, the last part was the ball we were going to use pom poms for it and we had to use the super glue.
We had finished our project and it looked awesome! But the aftermath wasn't too great. We had glue all over our hands. We didn't bother to wash them as it would probably dry as we were voting for the best one.
We looked around. As I saw Mason and Veronica's work it was as if a unicorn threw up on it, had 15 babies and they had thrown up on it too. I glanced over at Mason and he gave me a smile. Being myself, I smiled back
We all stood at the front of the room for Mrs Lucas to count up the votes
''And the winners are... ALEX AND LEVI!' She announced. We were so happy we grabbed hands and lifted them up into the air. We put them down again
'Levi,' I whispered through the side of my mouth 'Let go.'
I suddenly realised that our hands were still sticky from before...
We went back to our seats. I looked at Levi and he looked at me.
'Should we tell Mrs Lucas?' I asked him, whispering as I did
'No, then she will get really mad, we should wait for the end of class, Mason and Kylie should be able to help us.' he said
I nodded at his brilliant idea. Just then the bell went and we were free for Break
As we saw our friends come out the door we quickly grabbed them and pulled them to a nearby corner.
'Guys, we're stuck, we accidentally held hands with the glue on them.' I explained briefly.
There was a look on Mason's face that screamed ‘I'm jealous’ but his face turned back to normal so I brushed it off
Suddenly Kylie's face lit up like a lightbulb. 'I know,' she began 'we could go to the toilets rinse the glue off.'
'Great idea Kylie, one problem. Boy and Girl.' I said gesturing to Levi and myself.
'Hmm, maybe we could use a water fountain.' Mason said.
'Yeah, but they are out of order.' Levi assured him
'Guys, ' I started 'The only way we can get water is from...the staff toilets.
As we were trying to come up with a plan, the pink nuisance arrived.
'What are you guys chatting about?' She asked sticking her nose in our business.
'Nothing to do with you for that matter.' Kylie retorted
Kylie flipped her long hair at Veronica and pulled us along. I turned my head behind and saw her shocked face. That
made my day.
We ran as quick as we could, but since I was glued to Levi we were a bit slow. When we got to the staff toilet we saw the science teacher Mr Jones. 'Damn it,' I complained,'we're screwed, Mr Jones is always there we'll never be able to sneak in.'
It was Mason's turn to light up now 'Unless one of us distracts him while the other three go in.'
Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of that.
'I nominate myself.' Mason said bravely.
'Oh good, because I really didn't want to do it.' Kylie said
'Okay, Mason you go and distract Mr Jones while Kylie helps Alex and I wash the glue off.' Levi clarified.
We all knew what we had to do. Mason started talking. The only things I could make out were science, chemicals and the periodic table. I giggled slightly, it was brave of him to do that. I admired him for that.
All of a sudden I felt cold water on my hands. I felt a tingling sensation as our hands were coming apart.
We carefully snuck out of the toilet after doing a little victory dance. While sneaking behind Mr Jones I gave a thumbs up sign to Mason telling him to come.
As soon as we were all together I grabbed Mason in a big hug. He immediately hugged back. We let go and I smiled, he shot me with his warm smile. The backflips in my tummy came back again.
