DARIO'S POV
The knock echoed off Katy’s door, sharp and deliberate. I stood there, hand still raised, wondering if I should have waited. The hesitation on the other side made me pause. Was she still asleep? Or was she deliberately ignoring me? Either way, I wasn’t leaving without seeing her.
The door creaked open after a long moment, and there she stood.
I froze.
Katy leaned against the doorframe, her gaze cool but her outfit anything but. A sheer lace nightgown clung to her frame, the delicate fabric teasingly revealing the soft curves of her body. A satin kimono hung loosely over her shoulders, doing little to obscure the vision before me.
For the first time in years, words escaped me.
“Are you going to stand there all morning, or do you plan to speak?” she asked dryly, crossing her arms.
I cleared my throat, recovering just enough to muster a smirk. “If this is your idea of trying to seduce me, you’re doing a spectacular job.”
