Being in Manitoba for three days now has been nice, with the chilly weather and friendly people. I guess what they said about the country is true or maybe I'm just being welcomed properly. Although it's still a strange land to me and I miss my family.
I have an interview tomorrow which I'm preparing for and praying to God that I ace it, if not, it's gonna be goodbye to Canada...... oh God I hope not
I also needed to call the agent that will help me with getting an apartment. After all I did today, I slept off.
My alarm rang and woke me up, "Woah it's so fucking cold" I croaked out. I turned off my alarm and got back in bed to sleep again..... yes I'm one hell of a sleeper, as I shut my eyes to go for another round of sleep. I realized it's Monday
"Oh my God!!" I screamed and scrambled out of bed, did my morning routine, got dressed in a black jean, white shirt, a hoodie and a black sneakers.
I ran out of my room, got to the hotel lobby and asked the receptionist
"Uhm good morning, please I really need you to help me with the description on how to get to the University of Manitoba, I have an interview in one hour please"....
"Ok good morning ma'am, hope you slept well?" asked the receptionist
"Yes I did, thank you" I replied
"So about the description you asked for, it's not that difficult, when you get outside, you can hail a cab and tell him your destination, that will save you more time but will cost you more, but if you take the bus, it might waste your time and save you less" the receptionist described
"The former will be just fine, thank you so much, you're a life saver" I said
"You're very welcome ma'am and good luck " the receptionist said and smiled. I returned her smile and ran out.
Luckily for me I was able to get a cab fast, I told him my destination and in no time I got there and paid the driver.
I became nervous as I made my way to the admissions office, I met a lady there and approached her "Hello, I am Nina Ishmael from Nigeria, I was given an admission to study nursing here and my interview was scheduled for today, please can you direct me to where the interview is taking place?"
"Nice to meet you Miss Ishmael and I'm Sienna Hastings, ok let me check the records and I will ask you some questions for clarification, kindly have your seat please" the lady replied politely
"Thank you" I replied
"Ok I've gone through your records and yes, you indeed have an interview to get you qualified for the nursing program which will begin in 30 minutes, these questions won't take long please" she said
"Ok no problem, thank you " I replied.
She requested for some documents and asked me a few questions which I answered and then she took me to the conference room where the interview was taking place, which was in the Nursing department
"Miss Ishmael, you will wait here till you're being called, good luck " she said and smiled, I thanked her very much before she left. I looked around and the place was very organized
Well I got out so excited cause I aced my interview, I quickly informed my family and they congratulated me.
I headed back to the hotel and slumped on my bed and slept for a while due to stress, woke up two hours later and I was starving
I ordered room service, then dialed the agent's number I got from a student who was nice enough to help me out, on the second ring she picked "Hello, Hannah Miller here, may I know who I'm speaking with please?"
I replied "Hi, I'm Nina Ishmael, an International student who arrived in Manitoba a few days back, I'm in search for an apartment please and your number was given to me by a student in Manitoba university, hope you don't mind ma'am"
"Oh not at all, ok I have a list of residential areas I suggest for students, would you love to go check them out with me?" She asked
"I would love that, so when and where can we meet to go check them out?" I asked
"We can go check them out tomorrow by 9am and I'll send the address to you so we can go on from there, is that fine with you? " Mrs Miller replied
"Yes it's okay with me thank you, see you tomorrow, goodbye "
"Alright have a pleasant night Miss Ishmael " replied Mrs Miller
