Care

"Yay!" We all screamed in chorus. The seniors announced that this is the first day of intramurals. Every student is celebrating with their group of friends, some of them were just smiling while looking around.

"There are a lot of booths to try, enjoy!" They added. Sabrina and I jumped in excitement.

"Where should we go first?" I asked, looking at Travis, Marcus, and Sabrina.

"Let's try the Photo Booth?" We all agreed at the end. We can go for only 1 booth because after that, Travis, Marcus, and Levi will play later and we're going to watch.

They are already wearing their Jerseys, I guess every level has color coding. That's what I observed. I've seen grade 7 students wearing Green Jerseys, Blue for Grade 8, Pink for Grade 9, And Yellow for Grade 10. The Seniors Grade 11 and 12 are of the same color, red.

When we entered the room for the photo booth, my eyes widened a bit when I saw Damian. We haven't talked since that happened, but I do smile at him when I see him on campus. Though, he doesn't do the same thing.

I smiled a bit when our eyes met. His face remained serious. His friends started to tease him when they saw us. Damian just ignored them.

Some of my classmates greeted him and he just nodded. He's always cold and never shows emotion. I mean, I don't know. I haven't been with him.

"To Ms. Briana Vanedestine," Someone announced my name. It's from the Dedication Booth, I guess. Some of my classmates looked at me when they heard my name.

"You're like a mountain

A mountain I can't even reach,

Without even hiking it,

Just a simple glance,

I know, I'll never get there."

She stopped speaking. I heard a lot of people react, some of my classmates even pouted. I looked at Travis, he's just standing beside me. Not looking at me, but looking at Damian.

"There's more," She said.

"You're too high to reach,

And I'm too low to reach you,

Not because I'm weak,

It's because I have my limitations."

"This is from, uh..." She stopped. "It's from... Unknown..." I saw how Damian sighed. There was a pain in his eyes.

"The last one," She announced. "To Ms. Briana, listen carefully..." She said softly.

"You're like an owned lot

As much as I want that spot,

As much as I want to put my name on it,

You're already marked by someone."

"This is from unknown again..." Damian smiled painfully at me. This is the first time I saw him like this. Is this from him? By any chance?

They left when the picture was already printed. Travis was about to leave but I held his hand. He clenched his jaw and tried to look at me naturally. But even though he tried to hide it, he looked so pissed. Always jealous of Damian, huh?

"That's... beautiful, right?" He tried not to sound pissed. "Yes," I answered truthfully. I can't deny that the poems are beautiful.

"I'm sorry, I'm just jealous. I can't do that one," He let out a deep sigh. I just smiled at him. He smiled, too.

"You don't need to do that,"

"I'm sorry," He held my hand tightly. "He's kinda good..." He commented. "Who?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Damian." He said firmly.

"We're not sure if he's the one who wrote that." I just pulled him when it's our turn to take pictures. When the two of us finished taking pictures, I gestured a hand to Sabrina and Marcus, they were busy chit-chatting with other people. They quickly said goodbye to the person they were talking to and went to us. We did different wacky poses, we just all laughed at our picture when it got printed.

"Can I have a good luck kiss?" I kissed him on the cheek. "Good luck," I kissed him again.

Their Coach already called them, each team has 12 members. Travis and Marcus are on the same team. Zalvatore, 14. That's what is on his Jersey. February 14, that's his birthday.

That's also our Prom day, but next school year. I hope he can dance with me before he leaves.

I started cheering when the ball was on Travis, he started dribbling and the other team tried to get the ball. It was almost close but he already shot the ball. He winked at me after that.

I felt my cheeks heat up, the people around me giggling. Sab also joined in the sneezing and even pinched the side of my tummy.

I just playfully rolled my eyes at her. "Are you happy, Briana?" Sab asked softly. I stopped cheering when she asked that. "More than just happy, Sab..." I smiled at her. I shifted my gaze to Travis who was now trying to grab the ball from the opponent. "This is a different kind of happiness," She suddenly hugged me.

"I'm so happy for you,"

"I'm happy for us, Sab... It's my turn now, are you really happy?' She nodded quickly. I smiled at her and pulled her again into a tight hug.

"He'll leave, right?" I nodded. "He'll come back." I asserted.

"He should." I laughed.

"He really should,"

We just talked more and went back to cheering. I sat to drink water but I already heard people cheering. I looked at the scoreboard and we won! I quickly closed the drink and stood up to join in the cheering, but my vision started to rotate and I started to hear nothing.

I started to feel someone massaging my hands and my head. I slightly opened my eyes and I saw the white ceiling.

"Briana! Are you okay?" Travis's concerned voice covered the whole clinic. I started to realize what happened earlier, I fainted...

"I'm okay, sit down..." I told him because he seems really worried all he does is walk and walk.

He started sitting down and held my hand, he tried to massage it again.

"You should start seeing a Doctor, to check your eyes, that's what the nurse said. Or maybe you are dehydrated." So he handed me a bottle of water.

We were surprised when someone suddenly entered. It revealed Damian's concerned face, he's with his friend.

"I told you, bro. You're already too late."

"Sorry, wrong room." He said before leaving.

Travis just ignored that and handed me the bottle again.

"Don't... don't neglect yourself." He uttered with so much concern. I just nodded like a little kid.

"O-Okay,"

"Are you hungry?" I shook my head. But he still handed me food to eat.

"We can share—"

"No, eat it." He commanded.

I started unwrapping it, but I felt him in my tummy. He's hugging me like he's my child.

"Don't make me worry again, I can't take it..." He whispered

"I'm sorry..."

"Shh..."

"Congratulations, my love." I caressed his hand. And started holding it. Holding it like it was all mine like it was the whole world I am holding.

"Thanks to you, my inspiration." I laughed.

"What's funny?"He pouted. I just shook my head while there's a smile on my lips.

"I'll treat you for today, let's go?" I said.

He just shook his head. "No, I'll take you home. Let me take care of you for today."

This is the care that I missed, the care that I want.
