Chapter 2

Will's POV

"Can't I just start next week?" I asked my dad for the gazillionth time.

We were in the living room watching television. Well, my parents were watching TV, Freddy was out playing. Me? I was sulking. Why? Glad you asked. Well, my dad came back from church, and turned off my PlayStation while I was in the middle of a game to watch some crappy football. I'm sure he did this because I refused to go to church today. As if that wasn't torture enough, he decided to break the most amazing news ever to me. He said I was resuming school tomorrow.

"No." He said not even sparing me a glance.

"But the-"

"No."

"But I-"

"No."

"But-"

"No means no, Williams! You are resuming school tomorrow and that's final." He said giving me a heated glare so intense that you could see all the veins on his face practically bulging.

"But we just moved in, and all the unpacking got me so beat!" I groaned.

Uh oh. I could swear I saw a vein on my dad's face pop now.

"That was yesterday, will. Stop being such an insufferable whiny child." My mom chimed in from the kitchen before my dad could commit murder.

Hehe.

"Will, you have to start tomorrow." My mom said coming to into the living room, and sitting beside my fuming dad. Woah, careful there, mom.

My dad wasn't always like this though. When I was younger, he was just as sweet as my mother. But as I grew and embraced my homosexuality, he just changed. Of course, he didn't know I was gay. I could guarantee that. But I wonder what made him act so grumpy towards me.

"The school needs to finalize some things, and you're required to be there tomorrow." My mom added softly.

"Fine. I'll go." I groaned standing up, heading for my room before my mom called me back to give me yet, another great news.

"Oh, and uh, you'll have to be at school by 7." She gave me an apologetic look.

Seriously, can't someone have their beauty sleep?!

"Ugh!" I cried out and left for my room. I swear I needed to find the person that invented school and kill them.

I got into the room and shut the door brashly. I plopped down on my bed, thinking of how to get rid of the fowl mood I was in. I decided to just join Freddy outside and play with him. We could go to the park. Yeah, that'd definitely lighten up my mood. I stood up from the bed and went to my wardrobe, rummaging through my clothes to find something decent to wear. I couldn't find something to wear without making me uncomfortable, so I just went with the black top and blue shorts I found lying around at a corner.

I went downstairs and saw my mom preparing dinner in the kitchen. I went ahead into the living room, finding my dad still watching the football. Seriously, what do people find interesting in football? They just sit there for ninety minutes watching 11 men chase a ball. I'd never understand humans.

I'd choose spongebob over football any day. Scratch that, I'd choose literally anything.

"I'm going out to hang with Freddy. We'll be back in time before dinner." I said going out the door and shutting it.

I saw Freddy riding his bicycle around the neighborhood. I called out to him.

"Hey man, wanna have fun with your big bro?"

"Yeah sure give me a second." He said bringing the bicycle in, placing it against the fence. If we weren't in a friendly neighborhood, I'd be worried about the bicycle.

"So, where are we going?" Freddy asked walking up to me.

"I was thinking we should go to the park and reign terror on poor souls." I grinned looking over at Freddy to see him grinning also. Freddy and I always did this thing where we would go to the park and play maniacally and drive all the other people away so we could enjoy the park all to ourselves.

"Race you to the park!" Freddy screamed running right ahead. Oh no not again. I swear this kid wasn't human. He had way too much energy.

We got to the park shortly after. The park was surprisingly filled up. Good, more people to drive away. Before we could start anything, a man who looked like a cop came walking towards our direction. Whatever did he want?

"Aren't you two the kids who disrupt the peace of the park?" He quirked a brow at us.

What? How could he possibly know? He'd never been here before.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mrs Omar, one of our neighbors, smiling and walking away. Oh that sneaky old hag.

"First of all, I'm not a kid. Second, when the park is empty, there's peace. When people come to the park, there's no peace. We drive away people to bring peace to the park. So technically, we aren't doing anything wrong." I said flashing the cop a sweet smile.

"Listen here kid, I-" The cop was cut off by a voice coming from the device on his shoulder. He nodded and looked back at us after he was done listening.

"This isn't over." He said giving me an intimidating look after I smirked at him before swiftly fleeing from the park.

"Glad that's over with." I sighed looking at Freddy.

"Now, to disrupt peace and bring peace!" I screamed, turning to Freddy laughing. He laughed also and we went ahead to do what we did best.

*******

We got home just in time for dinner. Mom prepared a delicious meal, as usual. Freddy and I were so tired form all the activity at the park that we almost finished the whole food. After dinner, Freddy and I played call of duty all night on our phones before it was time for bed.

I greeted everyone goodnight and went into my room. I brushed my teeth and changed into a tank top and loose pants. I plopped down on my bed and brought the covers over me. I closed my eyes dreading tomorrow.

"Will! Williams get down here!" I heard my dad shout like some mad rabid demented dog. I sighed and got up from the bed, heading downstairs.

"What is it n-" I stopped in my tracks when I saw Daniel standing beside my dad.

Shit.

What was he doing here? How did we know our address? We friggin moved to the other side of the planet! What? How? Oh God. This doesn't look good at all. I'm screwed. If it wasn't the smirk on Daniel's face that gave it away, It was definitely the dark glint in his eyes.

"Daniel here tells me you are...like that." My dad spat. I'd never seem my dad so angry and bitter. It made me cringe.

"Answer me boy! Tell me he's lying." My dad said now madder than before.

"He's... I... It's... It's not what you think." I said picking my words carefully.

"It's not what I think?! I have a picture of you kissing a boy! A boy! And you're telling me it's not what I think?!" Dad spat, raising his phone, or rather Daniel's phone, to show me a picture of me kissing Daniel.

Shit.

One time, when Daniel and I were hanging out at his place, he got drunk and kissed me. I quickly shoved him away the instant his lips was on mine. He told me he was sorry, that it was the alcohol. How could I be so dumb? He actually did it on purpose. He set a camera somewhere and took a picture of us to expose me.

"Dad, I... It wasn't me, I swear! Dan-"

SLAP

My dad's palm collided with my cheek with a force so heavy that it made me stumble backwards. I positioned myself and placed my hand on my cheek looking up, fighting back the tears. My vision was blurred, but I could make out the smile on Daniel's face. I could also see my dad red with rage. His fists clenching and unclenching.

"I raised you up with morals and standard, and you went and did this?! You disgusting faggot! You just tarnished the family's name, the church, and God's image! If Daniel hadn't come here to reveal to me your true abominable nature, I would've kept on living with a filthy sinning faggot in my home! Now go up, pack your things and leave this house!"

The tears finally broke out.

"I... I'm so s- sorry. P-please do- don't throw m- me out. I don't ha- have a- anywhere to g- go" I croaked out between sobs. My throat feeling so dry and heavy.

"I don't care! I said leave!"

"Dad, plea-"

SLAP

"I'm not your father! A son of mine can never be a faggot! You will burn in hell!"

Gasp

I woke up. My fists holding onto the sheets with a tight grip. Sweat all over me. My body trembling.

It was a dream. It was just a dream.

I stood up from the bed. I went to the bathroom to wash my face. I came out after, took some pills, and changed my clothes.

I went back to bed and lay down.

Tomorrow, and for the rest of high school, my defenses were going up.
