Before I realized I was asleep were already landing, It wasn't a very long flight and I don't feel very rested, the lady who sat next to me tapped me to wake me; when I came to I almost called her Charli. She resembled him so much. I got up so she could get out, I grabbed my luggage and got off the plane where I made my way to the waiting area to sit and call a ride to Charli's place...I think he's sleeping though. Probably. I shouldn't call him until I get there. I ordered an Uber to take me to his apartment; I made my way out front to wait. I watched as all of the relatives of strangers hugged each other, the couples kissed and friends catch up with stories from the past.
~~~~~~ *Ding* -Text from mom-
"Hey honey, how is your flight? Did you make it there already? Sorry I am worried,
get back with me when you land
Mommy~"
~~~~~~
I smiled to myself
~~~~~~
"Yeah I am ok mom, I just landed"
~~~~~~
She was always a worry wart...even when dad told her not to worry about it so much, she couldn't help but to. Well, when he was here.
Soon my ride arrived out front "Are you Benjamin?"
"Yeah" I replied climbing into the backseat along with all of my luggage. The driver smiled at me in the rear view "You look really tired, are you visiting or do you live somewhere around here?" he asked.
I shook my head "I am here just to see...my brother" I answered.
He nodded then focused his eyes back on the road "Well it's going to be maybe thirty minutes~
He nodded and focused his eyes back on the road "Well it's going to be maybe thirty minutes before we get to where you're going so you could sleep if you want, I'll wake you if you want" he suggested.
"Thanks man" hearing him say that gave me relief, I was exhausted so I leaned my head back and tried to catch some sleep, I did. Eventually I relaxed into sleeping the whole way to Charli's place. "Hey we are here" called the driver shaking my leg. I came to, still groggy but functional and still none the less tired. "Thanks" I said gathering all of my things before climbing out on the sidewalk in front of Charli's apartment building. The driver waved before he drove off; I took a breath and went up the stairs feeling a bit anxious about meeting Charli, I began having thoughts about wether or not I should wait until tomorrow. But the need to see Charli was far greater, It's been so long. I opnened the door to the mus room which suprisingly was unlocked then went upstairs.Third floor...
Uhhhh ah, three C.
I took another breath before knocking a few times, I thought he wouldn't answer and was about to turn away when the door opened and sleepy Charli was standing there in a white shorts and a shirt, his hair tied back. It was almost unbelievable, this seemed almost like a dream considering how tired I was.
"Hi." I said with a smile
He rubbed his eyes as he came to, his face then lit up in shock "Benjamin? OH MY GOD!" he exclaimed throwing himself at me in a big hug, he nuzzled his face into my shirt as he squeezed. I guess he missed me too, he was so much shorter than I remembered him to be...obviosly Benjamin you problably got taller. I hugged him back for a moment laughing and suddenly I didn't feel so tired anymore. He hugged me a bit longer before letting me go looking up with teary eyes...I-I missed you Benji" he whined, breaking into tears.
Wow did he miss me that much?"Well don't cry because I am here now, and I am staying for a week. I didn't mean to wake you, I just was so excited I couldn't wait until tomorrow. We can do anything you want to do together" I said pulling out a tissue to wipe his tears. Just like when we were kids, I'd always find myself wiping his tears away when he cried, I guess nothing has changed.
"You surprised me dummy, come inside" he said gesturing me to come in; he took down his hair raking his fingers through it. I smilled and followed him in taking my shoes off and placing them neatly beside the door, his place was nice and neat. He had guitars in the corner of the room and paintings on the wall. He had his collection of stuffed animal's on the shelf with all of the books. He sat down on the cozy blue couch patting the space beside him "it is so good to see you again Benjamin, in person I mean" he said with that same starry-eyyed look from before.
I sat beside him "It is great to see you too Charli" I replied.
"I can't believe you are here right now, it has been so long and now you are here. You haven't changed at all. Well, you seem like you just grew a bit more" he said with a laugh.
"Same here, it has been a long time. again, I really hope I didn't bother you" I said.
Charli shook his head and rested his head on his arm, his face giving off an expression of disbelief "No, you did not bother me. And you don't need to go to a hotel , please, stay here with me. You can stay in my room and I will sleep here on the couch" he insisted.
I shook my head "No, I woun't put you out of your bed, I can sleep here if you insist on me staying" I said.
"But you are my guest and you deserve only the best-"
"No. It's really okay" I insisted "You should finish your sleep, Charli I am okay" I smiled.
His shoulders fell "Well...alright fine" he sighed and stood up "Good Night Benji" he said.
"Good night Boba" I replied as he nodded and left the room.
I took off my shirt searching through my bag for one to sleep in when Charli came back in "Hey Benjam- Oh sorry..." he said covering his face
"Oh, what is it?" I questioned pulling my shirt on.
"It's nothing I figured it out" he said before returning back into his room quickly closing the door behind him.
What was that all about? He acts as if he's never seen a man undress before, maybe its a respect thing, I thought. Then I changed into some shorts getting comfortable on the couch, I stared up at the ceiling smiling to myself thinking about all of the fun Charli and I was going to have during my stay here.
So I went to sleep.
That morning the sun shone through the window waking me along with the smell of someone cooking breakfast food, I sat up groggily rubbing my eyes. The couch was extreamly comfortable and I felt well rested now, I plodded into the kitchen still half asleep but hungry from the intoxicating smell of the delicious food "Good morning sleepy head, I was just about to wake you" Charli sang making our plates
"We are having eggs, bacon and fried potatoes this morning, I remembered that was your favorite" he said.
I smiled and sat down "Thank you so much Charli, you really didn't have to" I said as he sat my plate in front of me before sitting across the table from me.
"No, it's alright, I don't mind going through the trouble when you have came all the way here to see me" he said tucking his hair behind his ear and crossing my legs.
"I really just wanted to see you, I really missed you Boba. Your like a little brother to me" I said taking a nite of food "And, I missed how much of a great cook you are"
"Oh stop it, you don't mean that" he said with a slight tinge of pink glowing across his cheeks.
"But it's true" I said catching his eyes in a stare "I'm serious" I said. He chuckled and took a bite of food "I have to run out today unfortunately, but, you are welcome to hang out here alright?" he said "I have to work which is sad, but I promise it will not take long. I can take off for the rest of the week if I just work through today" he explained.
I nodded "Okay, I guess I can chill here . Then we can go to a bar tonight? Since you can drink now" I said.
He smiled at me " I'm nervous to drink, I don't now what it's going to be like, but one of us has to stay sober enough to get us home so I problably wont drink very much" he giggled.
"Yeah well, I am prettu responsible with that so don;t worry" I said reassuringly.
We talked for a while as we ate catching up on nothing...turns out we never changed; he's still the same old Boba who loves to stay a kid at heart for as long as he can. I am still the same Benji who takes life pretty seriously, unable to understand Boba's childish ways from personal experience. After Boba's parents died he was living with his older grand parents so I stepped up in looking after Boba. I was keeping him out of trouble which was somthing I had to do alot back then. wiping his tears and comforting him, supporting his curiosity but keeping him in line. Boba was always the tyoe of person who wanted to try everything; he rarely ever said no. He got addicted to Xanax and cocaine, he also smoked pretty much anything you offered to him. I remember it was getting so bad he couldn't quit on his own.
I had to send him rehab at sixteen; but he's lucky he never has gotten arrested, hurt or worse. I don't like to think about the worst. "Well Benji, I would love to hang out with you all day but I really have to get to work" he said with a smile before getting up from the table "I will see you around eight maybe" he added before getting dressed then leaving; I was by myself now. I thought to myself how much Boba grew physically and how he could stay a child at heart forever. I should brushed my teeth and out some clothes on, I went into the bathroom looking at myself in the mirror. Damn. I am a mess. Then I realized I didn't bring any toothpaste...great...I'm sure Boba wouldn't mind me using his; I looked through the top drawer but I couldn't find any toothpaste...so I checked the bottom drawer. I wish I hadn't...
In it was an adult toy...I didn't touch it, just grabbed the the toothpaste that was lying there beside it. I think we need to have a talk about organization as well as who the girl in which this thing belonged to, he told me that he didn't have anyone. Is he ashamed of her? Or embarrassed? I'll just ask him when he gets home I guess, I am not even going to try to wrap my head around this now.
