Strange Yet Familiar Place

In small clearing surrounded by mountains and hills of trash, a young boy no older than 10 was searching thought the garbage. The boy searched and search and after some long hours he finally found what he was searching for, a piece of an apple and a quarter of sawdust bread.

The boy was happy that he had found some food, but quickly he became vigilante looking at his surroundings in search of any kind of menace. Seeing that nothing was out of the ordinary, the boy enveloped the food scraps in his torn shirt and dashed down the hill. Even though the boy wasn't fast, one could even call it slow, but if one looked closely enough one would see that with each step the boy gave, not much sound was heard even in a spot instable as a heap of trash.

After a few strenuous miles, the boy arrived at what it seemed some kind of trash alley. Gathering from the garbage that was thrown to the junkyard every day the people that lived here managed to build some accommodations for them to at least not sleep in open sky. In between the stripes of cloth that made the doors of many of those houses, the boy could see the piercing eyes of many of the habitants of the junkyard.

Most of them didn't care about what a boy was doing here and returned to the bleak inside of their home. Meanwhile others, tried to perceive from every movement that the boy made to see if he had anything worth killing him for.

But after watching for a while, all of the greedy fellows arrived at the same conclusion, 'Not in a thousand years, would scrawny brat like him would have anything of worth and based on his speed, it's not like he would dare to cross this daddy's street with anything valuable.'.

The boy didn't even react at the bleak atmosphere that descended on him since he put one step in there. He knew from heart that the nail that sticks gets hammered. So step by step, he learned how shift his center of gravity to prevent any greedy look from seeing what he was carrying.

At the end of the street, there was an abandoned silo. The reason that it was empty was that even though most of the people here were poor and dirty, they still had fear of the run down building falling on their head. The boy made its way inside through a piece of cloth. Looking around, ascertain if someone had entered while he wasn't here.

He crouched down and gazed at the floor, 'Dumb bastards! They must think that I was born yesterday and let all my valuables on sight! Tch!'.

The boy cursed in his minds. He walked to one of the dirtiest and smelliest corners of the silo. He bent down, carefully putting the food on the ground and begin to dig. Very quickly, before what was just a musky corner gave way to a metal plate.

The boy picked the food gently and very carefully raised the plate, high enough for his body to go through but not high enough so that most of the dirt and stone could slide down and uncover the plate completely.

No one in that crappy alley would have thought that the death trap of a silo had hidden a small room beneath it.

The boy carefully treaded the stairs. At some point he arrived at a very large space that seemed that it was used to store broken down agricultural devices.

He sat down near what looked like a mattress and began to eat the delicacies he found today. At the same time, he ate, he began to revise what he knew, 'It has been 1 month since I arrived here at this world. But I never thought that Meteor City would be worse that what the manga and the anime described it has.'

The skinny boy was Alex. After he lost consciousness he woke up in hole. He first panicked because of the sudden knockout and obviously the change in scenario. He managed after struggling for some time to exit the hole only to become gobsmacked at landscape. His vision was filled with a cloud of dust and all kinds of powders harmful for living beings covering a never ending sight of mountains of trash. It almost seemed like the whole world had dumped all their trash on one spot and this was the final result.

"This!? Where... where am I?"

Alex muttered as he gazed at his surroundings. All kinds of thoughts filled his head.

Kidnapping?

Dream?

Coma?

But all of them didn't filled right to Alex. In a maniac way he began to run over everything prior to waking up in that hell hole and that was when it hit him.

He once again took one hard look at the junkyard landscape, 'Meteor City? No... it's impossible! A few moments ago I was in my room, so how the f*ck can I be here!'

Panic overrode his mind as he began to hyperventilate. His chest was beginning to tighten up and he was beginning to filled slightly airheaded. His mind was telling him that he had to go somewhere safe, somewhere familiar.

In a motion of despair, he began to dash. But he clearly underestimated the state of his body. Like a broken toy on low battery his legs giving in to weakness making Alex trip.

Feeling an impending sense of danger, his mind began to work like never before. Alex gazed at the spot where his body was falling and saw with bright clarity that he falling into a mesh of broken shards of metal, glass and some kind of sludge. This moment, he analyzed all kinds of variables and somewhat manage to figure out the best way to fall based on the lowest amount of risk and harm to his body.

Alex quickly changed his trajectory by applying a bit of strength on the foot that was still in contact with the ground, hugged his head trying to provide the best protection possible.

His body crashed on top of several plastic bags.

"Uhn, uhn, uhn…"

Alex panted. He never in his life had manage to feel so strange. Even though he was on the verge of seriously injuring himself, he still managed to properly analyze the situation like a machine.

For a few moments he stayed there laying on those bags. After some time, he muttered, "So I'm really in HunterxHunter, more precisely on Meteor City."

At first he couldn't believe it but after thinking for a bit it all made sense.

The unique view wasn't in any other place other than in Meteor City. His different body along with the decrease in age it all pointed to what it seemed the premise of that shady questionnaire.

Alex sat up and looked over his body to see if he had any sort of injury. Seeing that he was unharmed, he smirked and lightly touched his head, 'It seems that my choice of choosing the [Limitless Learning Capacity] wasn't wasted. The only downside is that made my already severely weak body become even weaker and fragile.'

He knew that all the options had downsizes but from all of the options the only one that he couldn't absolutely choose even though it promised god like powers was the God-Blessed Constitution. It was the only one that had the 'Death Flag' immediately set from the beginning.

So Alex decided to bet on the [Limitless Learning Capacity] even though he knew how useful a good physique was on HunterxHunter.

He shook his head to clear up his thoughts, 'Never mind the past, what is done is done. For now, I should find some place to stay, some food and also information about the rules and dealings of Meteor City.' He opened the bag underneath him, to find some old shirt and trousers which he rapidly put on him and made its way down the trash hill in hopes of finding something other than filth.

After that he quickly understood that one can't trust completely on the information that he had on Meteor City. Being a weak boy, people didn't help but stole everything that he found that possessed some kind of value. He was robed, beaten, thrown out to sleep on the streets, humiliated and more.

But with each obstacle, Alex learned much more than he was hurt. Where to lean to evade vital points, how to run without spending too much energy, the first signs of aggression. And after a month, Alex finally manage to overcome most of his obstacle managing to secure a safe place to sleep and to safe keep his belongings and also on where to go to find food.

............................

Alex munched the bread. The moldy taste didn't bother him as to him, this piece of bread was only calories needed to maintain his body on the best possible shape.

A few bites later he finished the bread and the apple. Getting up he slowly took all of his clothes till he was the way he was born, uhn... till the way the body appeared when he first came to this world and put them on top of the mattress.

He sat down and closed his eyes. Slowly a white film began to appear around his body undulating like water.

Alex throughout the month had already unlocked Nen without much problem. The trouble began when he couldn't maintain the constant output, so after some time his concentration would falter leading to the film dispersing.

Today was the first time Alex had managed to maintain the film and even a step further. He breath out and the film began to concentrate on a slim layer all around his body.

'Yes! Finally, I've mange to complete Ten. The other steps, Zetsu, Ren and Hatsu will now be much easier to accomplish.'

He opened his eyes, controlling his Nen to return to his body. He was happy that he had already unlocked Nen and even completed Ten, but he knew that with only this he wouldn't survive in this world. He had to take a step further. He gazed at some things on a corner of the room that he had prepared long time ago. He steeled his will and muttered, "Now it's time to learn my type of Nen.'
