People looked at Alex in bewilderment. From his fair face and height one wouldn't say that he was still a 10-year-old boy. If one of them knew that a few months ago this boy was a scrawny boy that would barely have any flesh that could fill his clothes they would be astonished.
It had been half a year since he was reborn in this world. After exiting Meteor City, Alex began his way to Yorknew City but along the way he began to notice some inconveniences that he hadn't thought about.
He knew that he would take some time to go from Meteor City to Yorknew City but he never though that he would have to do it walking. He always imagined that even though people despised in general the citizens from Meteor City, he never believed that he wouldn't see any transportation to other cities.
In the first few days, Alex didn't see not even one car or transportation along the way to his destination.
He couldn't believe. With all the improvements that his perk gave to him in the brain department, he hadn't even think that he would miss something so obvious as the need of a mode of transportation to the city.
That second, he began to laugh and clap in the middle of the desert night, "Ahahaaa...! How f*cking stupid! Ahahaaa...!"
Only after few moments did he stop reformulating his laughing face to one of deep thinking. He began to calculate how much time he would take to arrive at Yorknew City if he went on foot there.
He recalled the maps that he had memorized. The path to the city while not overly mountainous, it crossed some small nests of creatures and a few bandit's hideouts.
He remembered that when he saw that in the deserted path to Yorknew City there existed some bandit hideouts, he was confused.
Why would bandits create their hideouts and let people knew they were there? And why would even these bandits create their hideout near such a desert place like this?
He was a bit confused by those actions, but he learned the reason after he reach one of those hideouts.
When Alex arrived, he noticed that those hideouts couldn't be called hideouts, but more like small settlements. They had some houses, a few farming fields and a pigsty. At first he thought that perhaps all the information that he had gathered before he departed was a bit outdated, but he quickly erased that though after he saw a group of four men walking towards him.
The four men were the typical stereotype of bandits build. Dressed shabbily, with some scars across either their faces or limbs or chest and each carrying or a gun or a knife.
"Hey, kid what are you doing here? Did you lose your mother?"
One of the bandits spoke to him first. From his body language and obvious signs of subservience from the other men that this was the chief. Alex had an inkling of what this was all about but he still wanted to try and do it in a different way.
"Sir, I'm heading to Yorknew City."
Alex put a smile on his face as he answered. The four men hearing that, laughed loudly. They had been here for a few years, taking the arduous job of being the gatekeepers. They had seen how the boy was dressed and they kind of knew that with such fine clothes it was almost sure that this a rich kid that had run in hopes of happy adventures and finding treasures.
The Chief laughed as he spoke, "Kid, being that I had a good laugh I'll offer a nice offer to you. Usually I would kill you a take all the things that you have and then sell your corpse, but since you made me laugh a little I will change it for you. Instead of killing you, you will come with us and then we will sell you! Understood!? Aren't I a great and nice man!"
All of the men laughed hearing their boss talking like he was a selfless philanthropist. They knew how their boss really was and from the handsome looks of this kid, they would rake a large amount of coin for him.
Alex sighed as he muttered under his breath, "I really didn't want to resort to this but perhaps this is a nice opportunity to get a bit more used to this."
The men were laughing so loud that they only noticed a small sound coming from their 'large cash bag'. The boss looked at the boy while cleaning some small tears that were on his eyes, "Squirt, what the hell did yo..."
He only saw the boy raise his finger while smiling. The next moment he felt something warm spilling on his shirt and chest. He moved his head sideways and could only see shocked looks from his underlings.
Before he could know what was happening, the world turned dark to never turn bright again.
Alex had silently launched a Dáinsleif Edge on the throat of the man. He knew that with his still growing power that he didn't had enough power to cut through the man's entire body or even reach the man's heart, so the next more fragile spot was the neck. He simply had to cut one of the blood vessels and the man would rapidly die from blood loss.
Before the other bandits could move shoot him, Alex already began his dash towards them. Since they weren't afraid of a boy they had come very close to him in hopes of frightening him with their builds and guns.
That on the contrary was the thing that cause their doom. Alex arrived at one of the man that had a knife. The man seeing the boy running to him first, quickly tried to stab the boy.
Alex gazed at the approaching metal edge approaching is face and right when it was a few centimeters away, he sidestepped the blow. Immediately, Alex expertly grabbed the man's wrist and twisted his arm.
The man felt like his arm was about to be ripped off and could help but let go off his knife while kneeling down. Alex in single motion, pushed the man down and grabbed the knife in midair stabbing the man's neck.
The remaining men only realized what was really happened after their boss die mysteriously and another got stabbed. They never though that a boy that they randomly wanted to sell would be in fact a monster. The one with the gun raised and began to shoot at Alex, desperately hoping that the monster was killed.
Catching a glimpse from the corner of his eye, Alex covered his body with the still bleeding bandit. Even shielded by the body he still felt the strength of the bullets piercing and pushing against the body.
He was already tired after just killing a man with Nen and another physically. Even after all the preparation he still wasn't strong enough to take a bullet or a knife unscathed.
He directed Nen to his eyes activating Gyo. He saw through the corpse, that the man with the gun was shooting without care to where the bullets went.
The moment he heard a click, he released the corpse serving as a shield and threw the knife. The man still in panic only noticed that he was out of bullets when the knife was already right in front of him. The man didn't even have time to cry when the knife plunge into his eyes killing instantly.
The surviving man shouted with fear as he turned around to return to the settlement but before he could move he felt a hand touching against his neck. And instantly, he saw that the world was begin to turn upside down before it turned dark.
The moment Alex threw the knife, he dashed towards the other man. From the panic state that the gun bandit was in, he knew that the chances that he would be able to react to knife were minimal, he had made the bet to dash to the final bandit.
Like he had calculated the gun bandit didn't react and died, while the other bandit began to run to the settlement.
What the man didn't think was the Alex was already at arm's distance from him and before he could run Alex grabbed his neck.
Since he was holding the neck of the man, he didn't have to make calculations on the place where to cut so instantly he cut the man's neck with another Dáinsleif Edge.
After killing like the last bandit, Alex fell on the ground gasping. The idea of killing a human being didn't bother him as much as the effort it took. The act of killing 4 normal human without any Nen caused him to become very tired so he couldn't even think if they could manipulate Nen.
He knew that his body would remain weaker than the normal human, but the moment he awakened his Nen the normal for him became a human using Nen. So it should be easy to him taking out a normal human, but he knew it would take some time and effort so that he could revert his physical situation.
Alex took some time to catch his breath and relive some of his sore muscles and went to in direction of the small settlement. Nearing it, he cloaked himself with Zetsu and went to the tallest building in the settlement. Analyzing a basic society, the more central and imposing the building was the more important were the people who lived there.
He easily evaded some of the other man and woman in the settlement. From their bruises and shabby rags, he knew that most of them were either slaves or captives. He didn't a had any idea of releasing them. He already had wasted time dealing with those bandits and in a few hours it would get dark. That along with the missing bandits would be stupid to remain around and have a chance of get caught by the remaining bandits.
He entered the tallest building without anyone noticing. He silently made its way through every division in the building, looking for the room where the chief stayed.
When he encountered anyone he would silently come behind them, cover their mouth and slit their throat. He found that as the more he used Dáinsleif Edge against living beings and understood how it work, the easier it got to used it in the most optimal way.
After silencing every obstacle, he found the Chief's room. He entered and quickly found a safe.
Nen went to his eyes as he began to see the insides of the safe. Rotating the lock a few times and it opened. Inside there were a few jewelry and stacks of notes.
Alex ignored the jewelry and grabbed the notes.
'At least I found something useful in this venture.'
He smirked shaking his head. He looked at his clothes and found them drenched in blood which turned his mood sour again.
He went to the closet and went dumbfounded when he saw the clothes inside. Most of them were really different clothes that even he knew that they were expensive clothes.
'They must have assaulted other people and then sold them.'
He looked at a few of them and was glad to find that somehow they had clothes that were exactly the same as his but more expensive. He also grabbed a few of other more durable shirt, pants and shoes and put a few other pairs including the replacement of his bloody clothes in a backpack he found in the bottom of the closet.
He took off his bloody clothes and dressed the shirt, pants and shoes.
After making sure that he had put every note in the backpack he exited the building through a window and went back on the path to Yorknew City.
The following months he never stopped walking towards the city, only stopping to hunt and to sleep. Along the way he began to do some physical training and practice the Nen along with the stances of Shibukawa-ryu Jujutsu.
He encountered some beast and groups of bandits, but with the increasing mastery of Nen and Shibukawa-ryu Jujutsu it soon became as easy and simple to kill some normal beasts and humans. The months passed and his once scrawny body began to grow due to the regular fights, physical training and the increase of the caloric intake.
........................................
Alex felt like he had spent a lot of time doing just that but in just 5 months he arrived at Yorknew City. After getting a room and showering, he passed the next few days getting intel on the Mafia groups in the city that went along with his goal.
Eliminating some of them, he finally come to a decision and that's how he arrived at the front of this massive building.
Alex looked at the building a smirked as he walked into the Headquarters of one of 10 Mafia's groups.
