Chapter 1

She had been driving for days, or it at least felt that way. Rosalie glanced down at the map in her right hand as her left guided the steering wheel. She didn't typically like to drive distracted, especially with lily in the backseat, but she wanted to make sure she didn't miss her turn.

The rough winding roads of the Georgia countrysides were much harder to navigate then the familiar Boston streets she grew up on. With time she hoped this foreign terrain would feel just as recognizable to her.

"Just a few more minutes lily and we will get out of this darned car" Rosalie said to the crying baby as if she could understand

After a while longer, the sign she had been hoping to see finally was in view.

"Hayes Family Farm" she said quietly to herself and sighed a breath of relief.

They had finally reached their destination. Pulling onto the narrow dirt drive, she slowly started to see a large white farmhouse creep into sight. After pulling just a few yards from the front of the home, she put her car into park and gazed up in awe.

"It's beautiful" Rosalie stated while admiring the classic charm.

It was indeed beautiful. A large white porch hugged the entirety of the front and left side of the home, with the left side looking out on an expansive field. The large gleaming windows glowed with warm light against the dusk surroundings making it seem even more inviting.

It was clear that the house was old, but well kept through the years. She swore she could have seen something like it in her magazines she used to read back home.

Home. She winced at the thought of that, Boston wasn't her home anymore. Not after what happened with Declan.

Pushing that thought to the back of her mind she reached for the classifieds on her passenger seat. Reading the add circled in red pen.

"Cabin for rent on Hayes dairy farm. Needs work. $300 monthly. Utilities included. Contact Dalton Hayes (xxx)xxx-xxxx for more information."

Setting the newspaper back down, she turned in her seat to check on lily who had since calmed and fallen asleep. Rosalie gently ran her thumb across Lily's rose tinted cheek, though she was now 3 months old her beauty never ceased to amaze her. She had beautiful blonde hair that was softer than cotton, and eyes the color of the Atlantic. For a second Rosalie thought to wake her so she could see those big eyes looking up at her, but she knew that would inevitably end in tears.

Satisfied that her baby was safe, Rosalie turned forward in her seat and exited the car.

"Here's to new beginnings" she said out loud and she started towards the steps of the front porch.

As she reached the top of the steps, she started toward the large oak door. Halfway to her destination she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Stepping left she headed to the side of the large porch. Off in the distance she saw acres upon acres of grassy fields covered in an amber glow.

She had seen beautiful sunsets before, but nothing like this. It radiated warmth and peacefulness and she felt so drawn to it. She couldn't help herself from leaning against one of the sturdy railings to look at the calming sight.

"Just a few minutes" she thought to herself as she watched the sun go down.
