Chapter 2

"Harley, Come!" Called Dalton as a shaggy dog skid around the corner into the kitchen.

"Dinner" was all he said as he filled the large bowl on the floor with dry food.

As the dog approached the bowl he whined as he looked at the Burger and fries on his owners plate.

"Oh now don't give me that look" Dalton says as he exits into the dining room.

Typically he would stay in the kitchen and eat with his loyal companion, as it's the only company he cares to have. Knowing he would be guilted with puppy dog eyes over the difference in their meals, he decided to enjoy this one in solitude.

Setting his plate down on the table and pulling out a chair to sit, he hears the sound of a car pull up into his drive.

"Damn it" he mutters as he heads out into the entry hall to see who was intruding on his dinner.

Pulling back the curtains on the window to the side of his front door, Dalton sees a small silver Ford Escort parked in front of his porch. Through the windshield he could see a woman sitting in the drivers seat staring up at his home.

Though the light was dim he could tell the woman was beautiful. He could see her long waves of honey brown hair falling over her shoulders and her creamy white skin. He tried to make out her facial features to see if they matched the beauty of the rest of her, but to no avail.

He watched her as she moved around in her car, wondering who she was. Yes, she was beautiful he thought to himself, but Why is here, and why was she interrupting his evening?

He continued to watch her as she began to exit the car. As she stepped out he could see her better than before, and boy he was not disappointed. She had a small frame with her soft flowing hair reaching almost down to her waist. Her body was slender but he could tell her jeans and sweater hid the subtle curves of a woman.

As she approached his door Harley ran into the entry hall. Dalton decided it best to close him behind the dog gate as he tended to be a bit rambunctious with visitors.

Dalton turned and called to Harley. "Here" as he patted his thigh to signal to the dog which way to go.

After Harley was secured he turned his attention back to the stranger who he assumed would have knocked by now. After looking out the same window as before, he found her not there.

Confused, he opened his door and began to step out. Looking to his right he spotted the woman gazing out over his property.

Now he was really confused, he approached her from behind until he was only a few feet from where she stood.

"This could be considered trespassing, you know?" Dalton said with a southern drawl to the woman

Startled, Rosalie turned towards the Mans voice. This gave Dalton a better chance to see her features up close, and he felt his heart skip a beat.
